I've been on a Gram Parsons jag for a few weeks lately.. and finding a solid enjoyable version of this song is not easy.. you my friend have made the search worthwhile.. thanks!
I thought that too then I heard different and did some checking. Sylvia Sammons wrote the song and Parsons and a few others heard it and did it on stage. Somewhere he (or someone) claimed it as his and a lawsuit was made. They bought the rights to it finally but Sammons still wrote it.
@MrNormsHGW . that's completly unture. Chris Hillman of the byrds has stated many rimes that when gram was brought into the byrds gram wrote this song for the sweetheart of the rodeo LP. gram wrote many great songs. this one and hot burrito 1 and brass buttons being his best. even emmylou harris said gram wrote this song. all those people are respected and honest musicians. they have no reason to lie. prob more reliable than some internet article you found. dont ya think?
@ming746 I think the main thing their concerned about is who holds the copywrite on it at this point. In checking the web I saw where it goes both ways so 40+ years down the line all I can say is, whoever wrote it did a darn fine job. Personally, I like GPs live version the best. I bought the LP when it first came out for that song. Thanks for the info.
I prefer always your interpretation with your acoustic guitar, really, many thanks for this nice work.
Just one thing, in France we like the country music, we have many club of dance line too, the country music for us is in direct relation with your south states, behind this spirit, it's the dream of great escape.............I don't know if you understand my english, laugh....again thanks for all.
