but if you have been riding for a while you may want a bit of extra power.

Great bike, they will probably never stop running if you do regular maintenance on them but they are aimed at beginner riders so if you have some experience i would say go to the 250 they have tons of power and are fast as hell and you will never get bored.

@jjswimmer2014 umm the bike would be ok for trail racing.. Its a bit slow and doesnt have much power. More for beginner - average rider. But i did a few bush races and went pretty good on it. If your about 6 ft tall your probably better off looking at a 250 or something like that. cheers

For all of you hatin on the 230F: It is way cheaper to buy a new 230F and bore it out to 250cc. With the stock 230 tranny you will get the same performance out of it as you would with the 250x, slap a 250x tranny on it and what do you know? You're outperforming the 250x for $2000 less than the list price of a new 250x. They are great bikes with lots of potential.

i traded my 2006 crf 230 for a 2003 KTM 125 SX. it was a hella good deal. i mean the KTM is 100 pounds lighter, 2 inchs taller and like 15 mph faster. plus mine has vforce 3 reeds, fmf gold series fatty, turbince core 2 silencer Renthal fatbars. handguards, and a bunch of other stuff too. two strokes are a hellof alot funner than a four stroke. i mean once you ride a 230 and then get on a 2 stroke it feels like the 230 is for like your grandparents or something.

im thinking about getting a crf230f, but i cant decide between that and a kx100. id be riding trails more than id be on a mx track, but i still want to be able to do jumps here and there just for fun. not huge ones or anything, but yea. i dont know how well a kx100 would hold up in the thicker sand on trails, since it has smaller wheels. so if someone could give me their opinion thatd be cool

id prob go 230f if your doin more bush. You can jump them aswell.

a 230 def. because the main thing with 2 strokes is on hills. you have to stay in the throttle for the powerband on a hill and if you stop , ur screwed but with a 4 strke you can go in and out in the throttle plus crf 230s are pretty much indestructable if you maintain them right

what your looking for is a nice trail bike and the 230 is a great bike that takes about an oil change in the spring and maybe cleaning the air filter couple times a year but u really want something with BALLS and id get a crf250x its not to much power but enough to give u a ride and a "2 stroke" is just waiting to come out from under you and if your like 5'0 u probly should think about a crf150r it has plenty of power and will give a kx100 a run without the powerband being rediculus.

are you sure that's a crf230f? cuz i have an '04 one and it doesn't have a light.. i think it might be the crf230L 'cause I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that those have lights on them

and there is a HUGE difference between a 230 and 250 so anyone tall enough shouldn't bother with the 230, they should either the 250 or 450 (either X or R)

yeah i used to ride it a bit....

well i have a 250f now and the power differnce was amazing from a 230.

When i had my 230 i had no problems, it was easy to maintain, and u could do anything to it and it would be fine... its indestructable..

like i had a few big stacks and we just fixed it up a bit and it was fine again.

Yeah i would say if your looking for a really reliable bike that is easy to maintain its great

I did a few enduro races and beat most of the 85s..

yeah the crfs are great for bush riding and stuff i used to always ride in the bush it was so good up huge hills and crap. It doesnt have the most power but it has good bottom end and stuff. But definately a great bike if your looking for some bush riding and jumps and stuff too. as jkcrusher18 said they are bullet proof.
