  • AwayDays best song the second best song is Young Savage =)

  • Comment removed

  • My fave song from Systems Of Romance. . .so beautiful. . .

  • Masterful!

  • wtf is this awaydays malarky? o_O

  • @desolatesoul87 It's a football casuals movie, sort of like greenstreet except not overly exagerated and set in the 70's/80's I think. It's not a bad film, based on a book. This song plays at a fitting moment in it. I found this song through the movie, but knew of vienna/young savage/slip away etc through my mum's various 'That's the 70's!' sort of cd's ahaha. I'd reccomend it, decent acting.

  • @Thrashslashedmashedp me 2 bro top film....

  • Searched for ages to find this. Sorry to the fans of ultra vox cause you'll probably hate me for this but... AWAYDAYS <3

  • THIS is the sound of the seventies

  • Awaydays <3

  • Post- Foxx Ultravox never reached this level of beauty or mystery, But with a more radio-friendly sound they did sell a shedload more records. It was ever thus...

  • epic.

  • Just the Piano Part in Awaydays that Fits Fucking Great and the Rest of the song to be fair.

  • fucking class song in awaydays aswell

  • gives me that weird feeling in my chest

  • Greetings from Indonesia

  • 3 people (some crappy dislike joke)

  • John Foxx is one of the best musicians ever!

  • classic foxx, i saw him on his metamatic tour year or ago, classic

    80s in the 2010s

  • this songs makes me uncomfortable and scared

  • This is the first song that has ever made me fell awash with several emotions at once, gutted I was only born in 1988, would of loved to been around to see them!

  • @TheGamblingaddict born in 93, even more gutted only just keard about them

  • Simply Stunning. Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

  • I have loved this track since i first heard it in 79 one of my all time favourites.Takes me back to my youth. Thanks John

  • One of my favs on the Systems of romance Album, John foxx was a master of words. To me a great Iconic figure. Pure Art

  • THIS NEEDS MORE HITS!

  • @slinq i just cant stop listining to this

  • I have never understood why Billy starts a beautiful violin solo with only about 20 seconds left in the song. Wish that could have gone on longer.

  • i am haveing this agt my wedding

  • fucken gun tune

  • @DvD21mIL then go and listen to bloody Britney or whatever crap you listen to then , this was a brilliant band once and this is a great track

  • Loved John Foxx and Ultravox from the first listen back in 77. Like Magazine, they never got the critical acclaim and financial support they absolutely deserved. Completely ahead of their time, both bands. Attention to the heart and the art rather than the bank account and the hit parade. Well that was part of the punk ethic....now that the big labels are all in total collapse I have a quiet laugh. The enemy has destroyed itself at last.

  • i was looking for ultrviolence and i got this, this is better.

  • Ultravox track used on the film Awaydays!

  • This was always my favorite John Foxx Ultravox song.

  • some song for away days

  • Pure class. Listen to your heart break music.

  • I think this will be my salute to this life.

  • this song made me love the film Awaydays, somehow it summed up everything that was going on and for me, gave the film a more profound feel. An excellent choice for the movie however i am but pages away from finishing the book and its kicking the movie adaptations ass.

  • aw man the book is amazing isnt it made me laugh a good few times

  • @1975allyboy.

hey mate, ive finished the book and i have to say its up there among my favourites. i totally agree with you when you say that the book is really funny, had more than a few giggles. i think what makes it special is that its very sombre too, a fine blend. loved it loads. gonna look out for more kevin sampson books. :)

  • @DevilsDriftwood Great Book is Awaydays!

  • pull the strings of the heart

  • one word - ultravox :) cheers !

  • I think this is the most beautiful John Foxx Ultravox song...his first solo album was interesting too.

  • OMG Awaydayss [Y]

  • where can i download this song for free?

  • just beautiful

  • Awesome and evocative. I remember buying the album when it came out. Ah, those were the daze...

  • AWAY DAYS =D

  • but what about The Wild The Beautiful and The Damned

  • Away Days

  • Eno meets Kraftwerk

    but delicious....

  • ooo this world not to far away in time that is the way its gowing.

  • I love this song from Awaydays

  • same... really goes well with it :)

  • One o fthe finest songs they ever did. Perfect really. 'I felt the floor change into an ocean' - genius.

  • Lovely.... and yeah Dislocation kicks ass

  • 2nd best song Ultravox have done and also good song for Awaydays, But the best song bye Ultravox has got to be - Dislocation !

  • not great ultravox ???? this was the defining time,,,,nothing came after of any note

  • i love both incarnations of ultravox, got no time for the view that only foxx's version was any good, except that people are entitled to that opinion. the four albums with midge produced some wonderful stuff

  • @chrisnoaro1

Agreed 100%. I despise the elitists who trash Midge Ure, who is just as much of a musical and lyrical genius as John Foxx. Vienna, Rage In Eden, Quartet and Lament are extraordinary. Although U-Vox is, for the most part, a terrible album, even that had a couple good songs: All Fall Down is an incredible song (obviously celtic sounding, not electronic) and I also really like All In One Day.

  • @RockyBalboa7777 Yeah I agree entirely, four beautiful albums they did with Midge. The icy synths, mock classical piano, heavy rock guitar! The highly idiosyncratic lyrics - people don't get the humour of those lyrics! They never sacrificed their sound and European aesthetic for a stab at US success. I've recently got more into U-Vox but agree it's no comparison whatsoever to the other four albums....

  • @RockyBalboa7777 continuing... I'm in New Zealand so have no hope of seeing the reunion, waiting for the CD/DVD release. I hope they do record again in the classic style, but if they don't we still have 7 classic albums. I'm still heavily into Foxx's new solo stuff - that's great too! My favourite Foxx-era album is Ha Ha Ha for it's punked up intensity.

  • @RockyBalboa7777 - It's especially bad for people to be like that when it was Foxx (and Simon) who left...it's not like Billy, Chris & Warren tossed them out to replace them w/ Midge Ure. I consider them somewhat different bands, but neither is inherently better or worse than the other.

  • The part from 1:19 makes me fucking well up. Perfect in Awaydays.

  • @AshRotten101 - i understand completely. with every poignant keyboard stroke part of myself. you feel it in your breast-plate, a liquid pressure. i read you loud and clear.

  • I remember this from a distant memory.

  • @AshRotten101 so true man

  • I remember thinking that I wished Billy Currie's violin could have gone on longer on the fade out finish, but I realize now (30 years later) that this is what separated 'prog' from 'punk', and thank goodness for that...

  • There's a bit of a meeting point in the two, but not much, lol...long live John Foxx, Magazine et al...but also, long live Peter Hammill/VdGG, Popol Vuh, etc.

  • Too each their own;not great ultravox to me though.

  • brilliant song!

  • Great song , and works great in Awaydays!

  • awesome awesome song.. this and young savage ^^

as for the movie, great, original atmosphere, 1+ story . great job up

  • just finished watching the movie. It was a very good movie and the song is awesome.

  • unreal song. enough said

  • Heard this in the film "Awaydays", thanks heaps for sharing it here.

  • + 1

    Awesome song and great film!

  • Most definitely!

  • don't you mean mos def ?

  • Is not youtube a great idea. Anyone able to post Dislocation and maximum acceleration?. Cannot fined a copy of the album here in New Zealand.

  • perfect soundtrack for the next terminator movie..

  • Great! This was my favourite song when I was at school, 17 or 18 years old! (... ehm... 26 years ago, mmm...)

  • Decent Foxx song, the other two lead singers of Ultravox would not of been able to of emulated this style of early Ultravox...

  • The John Foxx-era Ultravox! was a band to contend with in the early New Wave years; very few had pinned down such a sound and made it theirs.

  • Oh thank you for all of these beloved songs.

I lost all of my LPs some time ago.

You have given me a marvelous gift, FallingDown, and I simply cannot thank you enough.

    (She is weeping)

    Bless you.

  • This album is available now on cd. (I've got the LP- now sadly scratched) It contains a couple of extra tracks (reworks of existing tracks). Sorry to hear you lost your LPs.

  • I used to drop LSD to this song. Thank you

  • guided by voices covered this

  • Great cool song.... nice lennon-bowie styled lyrics and haunting euro melody.....conjurs up visions of Soho New York & London of late 70's.... great era..... I saw John Fox and Ultravox at Club Hurrah in NY in 1978.

  • Finally!Been looking for this one for some time.Bless you!

  • Thanx so much for posting! I've been looking for it for like 10 years...Incredible.

  • Me too. I lost the vinyl about 10 years ago!!
