  • i believe a person with very little experience should not look into your oppenants eyes.if the guy looks really scarey looking, long hair, tatoos, scars, one white eye, scruff, missing teeth,a shitty grin.that is called a books covering.that could make u loose concertration.a experienced fighter can intimidate back by looking into the eyes becuase he s not fooled by the outer cover.it is what you read inside that counts.

  • you know what your talkin about!! n for all the people talkin shit this is a STREET FIGHTER GUARD not a mma technique or boxing so shudup! this dude wud fuck ur shit up!

you shud do more videos like this, simple but effective, to help the victims out there. good video man.

  • @TeamWujin

I'm 26years old sir, and I've only been in a real fight thrice in my whole life. I was always getting bullied until I lift weights and all because I looked muscular now. I know nothing about real fights. I got beaten badly from all of my 3fights. I'm being surrounded by lots of fighting information. pls reply. I'm a Filipino. I survived twice from knife attacks only by running and all because no hits on my organs. I stand 5'7" and weighs 70kilograms

  • @jonahcarlo sorry to hear that dude.. but what am I supposed to say??

You want my advise?? start BOXING man! Just learn to FIGHT not put yourself in the victim's position all the time and think DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE - BULLSHIT! If someone steps to you, you know you can fight, cos that's what you train! BOOM

  • I stumbled upon this video. In my 26 years of martial arts I have always been taught and taught my students to not look into the eyes. We train to look at the neck and shoulders as they tend to give away or telegraph the attack. Looking into the eyes can be distracting. Just my two cents, thats all.

  • Almost anything works since a real fight is chaotic. What this guy is teaching is a basic boxing stance! There are other stances that work perfectly!

  • random search and actually find out there is a person on here who know's about street fighting tactics, why.....because I use to be one when I was a naughty young man and the stuff he says is spot on.

  • I agree, I do MMA and I never look into their eyes because it makes me realise I'm fighting a human being (which makes me feel uneasy). I prefer to look just below their neck because I find my reflexes respond quicker to peripheral vision and that way I'm not thinking about the fact that I'm fighting a human being. That's a very fucking symmetrical haircut by the way.

  • i thought it's going to be some kind of a witty, humoristic street fighter parody.

it turned out to be... kinda useful actually, thanks!

  • Book of Five Rings, Miyamoto Musashi. I think he was one of the first to talk about this concept

  • loook at the center of the chest, so you see all angles and know your opponent. its better.

  • Good solid advice

  • hi Luke!

About the eye contact - it's an interessting point what you say.

Classic MA teaches to ALWAYS look in to your opponents eyes. The eyes are the gate to the soul and in fact I made the experience that you can actualy read other humans with a little experience. For example if someone going to attack you, be sure his eyes are telling you one second before. It takes years of training to suppress this. Further it is a sign of self esteem and I don't want a bully to think I am weak...

  • @qubiq3 I see you're point and appreciate it. But I don't believe it takes years to 'train out'. People who have never trained but have a good street sense can hide their intent even before it telegraphs through their body language. Myself and many other Raw Combat practitioners have experienced this working on the job in Security & Law Enforcement where an offender/assailant/suspect (whatever term you like) attacks an officer randomly.

  • @qubiq3 When you train in a similar way, you learn to read the bodylanguage as one. I personally read the look on the face, tone of voice, look in the eye and all the rest without looking into the eyes.. The fact is, his GLARE isn't going to hurt me.. It's usually whats tucked in his belt line (or hist fists) so looking at center mass, my peripheral picks up any 'printing' of a weapon and his general body movement which I consider PRO-Activity rather than responsive.. Does that make sense??

  • @TeamWuJin yes

  • @qubiq3 Thumbs down. I have heard of classical MA teaching one to look at eyes. You must have been going to Cobra Kai dojo to see that.

  • He is right about eye contact BUT that varies. I ALWAYS look into the eyes of someone running their mouth. A few days ago I was minding my own business and some drunk indians pulled up to me and ran their mouths, probably over the color of my shirt. This woman got out and wanted to fight me LOL, I looked her dead in the eyes and told her she better just get back into her fucking truck. She wanted me to test her out, I looked into her soul and told her she didnt want me to do that. Nothing happen

  • @deeznutts206 big fuckin deal, do that to a grown ass man and then say something

  • i have a cousin who does karate who told me the exact same thing

  • We teach a similar guard in Krav Maga. By looking at centre mass not only does your peripheral vision see movements more quickly (the rods and cones in the retina which sens light are situated at the outside edge of the retina) and you are less prone to intimidation which can happen with eye to eye contact but it can also help in that you are not open to "dummy" signals from your opponent.

  • Good tips

  • I no this was made along time ago, but its correct most fighters get intimidated and scared by looking into their eyes. Good advice.

  • it's a ryu guard

  • Fairplay to this guy, he is doing well presented videos and doing his thing, but everyones entitled to an opinion and here is mine: look at their eyes

  • @mattycbase

I agree with what he says about why you don't wanna look at someones eyes. The eyes aren't the weapons you're worried about. It's your opponents arms and legs. And looking someone directly in the eyes can also instigate violence. If someone is looking for a fight in the street eye contact can be seen as a challenge.

  • Simple and true.

  • i want you as my big brother !!

  • Everything he said is right. When I was a Boxer, I believed the minute I made eye contact, It totally threw me. I always looked at the chest and watched for the flashes of movement.

  • Havnt thought about where to look before... Just used to look where i wanna hit i guess... well atleast that makes sense

  • wow....u are really good...u and my brother are like the same at this stuff...good to see ur work...its really good to be inspired by this type of work...thanks alot

  • great explanation ound it very informitive and fair because it includes basic principals from what seem to be numerous styles of fighting

  • Seu merda, eu te quebro.

  • good stuff !

  • cute guy !

  • Great Info ! T-UP

  • my master said look at the eyes his pupils will smaller when he wants to hit

  • @Avo295 I don't want to come off the wrong way so please to take it that way. But try looking at the shoulders. That way you don't fall for there feints. If you look at the eye's the other guy can look high then hit low. His body will tell you where he plans to strike also with that being said use your eyes to set up some feints of your own. Hope this helped some.

  • again, that is very good advice.

  • 9ice 1

  • this is more a boxing guard ?

  • This helps, now I won't look like a chump when I get my ass handed to me. Oh, wait, more tutorials. That helps.

  • hmm good tip, i like to find great tips from everything and put it into one bad butt fighting tenchique!

  • @theamazingtoot try learning some basic Muay Thai, take a couple months of TKD, a yr of wrestling, a yr of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and learn Krav Maga(stick to that for life cuz it is the best self defense and I have found incorporating it into my fighting style helps greatly with competitive fighting)

  • He's absolutely right, head down, throat guarded, eyes on the centre of his torso,if it's every day average joe he'll telegraph his punches a mile off,I use this guard for Krav Maga and it's VERY effective, also gets you in prime position for if you wanna go for a clench and lay some knees in to him as well as headbutting, and if he decides to headbutt YOU,your head is already tucked and brace for impact, stay light, stay fast, and you'll survive almost any attack :)

  • How to speak Australian...Luke Holloway....Australian for beatdown...lol. You're an excellent teacher sir. God if I had the means and the money I'd like to train with you in heavy combat skills. My Brother is teaching me the nameless art of movement. He's got some friggin insane skills. All the stuff I'm learning is based on real combat so it's nothing pretty. Like I told him though, I learn it in the hopes I'll never have to use it. Take care Mr. Holloway, you da man!

  • that's why i never understed people who looked in the eyes during fights.

  • im a really big fan of your techniques. excellent work

  • Good tips.

  • good video.. good tips.. thanks...

  • Thanks,Really edjucating.

  • Youre so right bro, keep up the good work.

  • Good mate very good

  • Yours tips are great ! especially "look at the center and not the eyes". I trained in 3 clubs of karate and 2 of kickboxing, and in kumite both told me to look in the eyes. But in a club of ninjutsu the sensei gave me the same tips as you, and it works better against determined opponents, cause their eyes are intimidating.

    Do more videos please

  • @Teenagerus Eyes are also very misleading. If he can control his eyes well, he'll make you think he's gonna do a low kick, and instead he punches (just an example) - I always look at the chest. A bit tricky when you are training against a girl, though, since you are staring at her titties XD.

  • @Teenagerus mennn what karate or kickboxing did u practice!! any style of fight the basics is always look at the center

  • I can’t stand losers disrespecting professional guys like this man on the video.

  • Very good point about looking at the center. Whoever said "the eyes are the mirror of the soul" has had his quote pulled out of context way too often. When fighting close range the eyes are not the best place to look.

  • yea thts a nice aussie accent, think a better educated, more enunciated russell crowe

  • @benjuiceman Hahahahahahaha but they are both as fighty I guess

  • are you lebo bro

  • GREAT VID. CLEAR AND TO THE POINT.

Keep it up mate! You're a good teacher.

  • hey man nice vids!! ive learned some good stuff

your a brilliant teacher and your explanations are very clear :]

keep up the good work and good luck

  • very true. that is a good learing point. look at the solarus plexus or the centra of the body so you can see it all. thanks for this lesson on you tube!

  • What Street fighter character are you teaching that guard?

Sagat, Adon, Guile, Balrog or Vega?

  • @MrWweytnafan ya mum, smart arse!

  • @TeamWuJin haha good one.. :D

  • @TeamWuJin HAHAHAHA win!

  • @MrWweytnafan yay another gamer fanboy fag, I like videogames but fighting skills come from training...

  • but if u look into their eyes depending on who ur fighting they look at were they gonna hit u, i do it and it works sometimes

  • thanks for the center spot looking tip, i never heard that before, and it is fundamental in a fight.

  • right on.i try to install this principal of looking at the sternum too.

so you must also know that there is a lot of people that still swear by looking in the eyes.

this principle also has an offensive application.

i can try and suck somboddys attention into my eyes.sort of like hypnotise your opponent en draw him into your eyes

  • sweet nice tips

  • so informative.. ive been learning through your videos. thank you for sharing sir.

  • Hey man, thanks. I wanna become a great fighter.. With your help i believe i can do so. Thanks man, wish me luck

  • great stuff !

  • Very good and instructional!

  • great vid, i will be usefull some day, and that guys has such an awesome accent

  • полный лох )))) тупой урод )))

  • awesome vid!

  • His accent is so HOT!

  • @Umma4b thank you kindly ;-)

  • @TeamWuJin i allways wonder why people think our accent is sexy...lol

  • Lol

  • @Umma4b ozzie ozzie ozzie!

  • @jimboppins2230 its AUSSIE.

  • @Umma4b its called australian lol

  • lol sorry peoples lol street fighting wouldnt do much harm to me lol... im a 2nd Dan TKD lol ill own this peoples... Just wanting to say, street fighting is not better than TKD

  • in a street fight there are no rules, first rule is there are no rules, anything goes, keep mindful you don't underestimate a street fighter whos knowledgeable of multiple forms and styles

  • HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA... This is just BS. TKD is only effective vs people who don't know martial arts for shit. Try ur TKD on me... But i agree, street fighting is bs... Try some Muay Thai!

  • this guy would kick your ass do some research ...

  • You say things like that, You disrespect others, that means You didn't earn Your rank. You're childish. And believe me, a well-trained street fighter CAN harm You. Harm You BAD, and still there's no point in comparing fighting styles in general.

  • your not bullet proof

  • @bestkidguy96 i'll fight you. we can film it if you like and put it on youtube. your kicks woint be worth shit if your on your back with your face smashed in with forehead shots and your throat bit out. dont be a tit mate. its like saying my tank can shoot that ant. why?!

  • What the fuck are you talking about hahahahahahah. TKD hahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • @siimkask14 You got that right, I also did LMFAO @ TKD. Pay some respect to both the uploader and the instructor in the video, as they do help others, not just showing off...like TKD freaks do.

  • 2nd Dan TKD? Meaning you have no hands at all.

  • @RebelWrestler45

Hey man, bestkidguy96 is a dumbass but TKD isn't just kicks you know.

  • @gutsu91 yeah, I do know. I did it as a kid and train till my 2nd Dan, but that doesnt mean shit to me... what's your point?

  • @TeamWuJin

Cough* I was replying to RebelWrestler's comment, he's basically saying that TKD is only kicks and that Taekwons don't use their hands, however that is false. My point is that Taekwons don't just use their feet, they have hand techniques too, although it isn't their focus.

  • great video

  • yeah, liked the stuff about looking at the center -- when i was younger and boxed and competed in karate tournaments,i always tried to do that -- it's like in football, where you watch the person's chest, because the comparitive immobility of the trunk could let you know where a person was juking or slipping -- very good tip, good vid

  • Very Helpful I'm tired of my dad kicking my ass lol

  • Thanks men!

    You explain really well

  • Amazing and very helpful. Cheers!

    Hernam Santos 1st Dan TKD
