Well put together video, great job all together. Small correction for your description though, Bell 407 instead of 408. Perhaps this has been pointed out to you already.
I met Mr. Ford in Idaho when he landed his Beaver. I was always a big fan of this great airplane so when I saw one come in I walked out to the ramp to check it out and there was Mr. Ford, a true gentleman, cleaning bugs off the spinner. That plane was immaculate! It was perfectly tricked out. There wasn't a speck of dirt in the whole cockpit, or a streak of oil anywhere. He really takes good care of that plane and he looked like he enjoyed doing it. Man, I'd love to have that plane.
@barryb83110 we had his citation in our hanger a while ago same way completely immaculate not a streak of oil or grease anywhere and obviously freshly waxed.
Thanks HF for the great positive message about G.A. It was well filmed/edited etc and does a fine job of reminding us why we take to the air. Thanks also BritAussieDude for posting this - a job well done.
His $15 an hour problem is my $125 an hour problem now ! But I haven't lost my spirit, and my logbook is at the ready. Somehow someday I will get back "up there" !!
OWS'ers must hate him for being part of the 1% and an 'Investor' as well. Sorta puts him in the same class as the top paid sports figures, politicians, lawyers and Oprah? Guess the OWS'ers want them all brought down (pretty low) to their polutted level?
Harrison Ford is a pompus ass! He doesn't like any form of light avaition to include expermintal class and fosters the "I'm better than thou." attitude in class of aircraft....Contrary to his fabricated public image, Harrison Ford is not a good spokesperson for aviation.
@JohnGHawk You should not knock Mr. Ford simply because he prefers The Beaver etc over a little 172. I fly a Caravan and I much prefer that airplane over any smaller aircraft that I've flown prior. That does not make me a "pompus ass" as you say. And speaking of a "spokesperson", you would make a terrible one considering that you can not even spell the word "experimental". To ALL of my other fellow pilots, Happy Flying!
Flynbuy, Thanks for helping point out that the irrelevant being the typo in my response It has nothing to do with the content or argument. Mr. Ford does not makea good spokesperson for our community when he called “Experimental aircraft unsafe.” When Mr. Ford uttered those words he should have been removed as the spokesperson for the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). Commercial Aviation down to Ultralights share our skies and it is all safe in their enviroment.
Great video! You nailed what flying is all about. I felt like I was in the cockpit with you swapping flying stories :-) . I am lucky enough to live on an airport with my '47 Cessna 140 in a hanger attached to my house which is, In turn, "attached" to an 1800' grass runway. Many mornings, I'll take off at dawn and watch the sun come over the horizon while I'm sipping my morning coffee from about 1000' AGL. Just another pilot in another airplane...gotta love it. Mike, CFI.
@hunterhalo2 that guy was talking about his love for aviation and you call him a faggot? common man what do you gain from calling him names, aviation is different for everyone. some people prefer a small plane and a cup of coffee, some prefer a good looking uniform and pushing the thrust levers forward down the runway on a 747, its different for everyone, you must have some part of aviation you prefer over others.
Pretty good landing! I totally understand what he means when he just is another person and can just relax, granted I aint famous, it's his happy place, just like me on my horse
Did you all hear that quote? "Freedom without responsibility isn't so engaging". Wish more people here in America felt that way. Freedom without responsibility is a fat bird in a cage with full feeder cups, waiting to die. Fuck that, that's not me! I'd love to meet pilots like Ford, Hoover, Yeager.
Wow!!! I'm a great fan of Harrison and can tell that he's really a man who doesn't look like to be so famous!! At least he's not the kind of guy showing off in Hollywood with big cars and all that stuff. That's what I like, simple and no snobism at all!!!
@ThePlainzfyre It's actually a DHC-2 with a original style (probably turbo-normalized however) Radial engine, with a constant speed prop. Also has some mods for bush flying including wing fences for low speed control and wash-in control (improving low speed and stall characteristics), tailplane wing fences to increase the effectiveness of the elevator at low speeds, and horner tips which decrease induced drag by reducing wingtip vorticies. Last, the engine probably isnt P&W now
@Airsoftred Actually, the engine in Ford's DHC-2 is a Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Junior. I had a chance to see his plane close up at an EAA Young Eagles event in CO; it's one of the cleanest Wasp Jr's out there!
@cleekmaker00 Wow! Well my apologies. Not many original engines out there anymore, I guess someone like Harrison Ford can afford it though! Sorry ThePlanzfyre, didn't mean to be an ass, and thank you for the correction cleekmaker
Aviation has always been a big interest of mine. I've flown Cessna's before, I love the feeling of "freedom" in the wide open empty space and looking down at the beauty of the land. Harrison Ford is one of my heroes when it comes to aviation, next to Charles Lindbergh.
HARRISON FORD T'ES QU'UN RACISTE ET HYPOCRITE TA TOUJOURS DETESTER LES MUSULMANS ET LES ARABES TU ES JALOUX DE JOHN TRAVOLTA ET BIEN VIVE JOHN TRAVOLTA LONG A JOHN TRAVOLTA JOHN TRAVOLTA FOREVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER
@drake123josh He didnt crash it, he needed to leave the aircraft remember? He taken out by the Guard and it crashed for getting the tail hit and it lost lift. (From the movie Air Force One)
A guy can spend his whole life flying and never get bored because there's always another level to progress to. Each and every plane flies a little different. I might master a yoke plane but start flying a stick and feel like a beginner again. I master landing in a tri-gear but then learn to fly a tailwheel or float plane. Master a prop then go to Twin and then Jet. Each and every flight is different and has it's challenges and I love that.
Harrison Ford is the man! I really would enjoy getting to fly with him some day. He seems sincere about his love for aviation and that truly is what makes an outstanding pilot. I have a feeling if I bumped into him at the local airports FBO he would want to be treated like any other pilot and that is what makes him a real pilot.
I think this clip is great it shows only a bit of how awesome a personality Harrison really has.. He's down-home smooth and really laid back! Super cool..
Great piece of work Paul. Makes me want to start flying again. Maybe when I get to "not having to work to make a living" (although I know Harrison Ford has worked a lot to get to where he is).
Harrison is right. Flying levels the playing field. All are equal when piloting - whether you're a surgeon or ramp rat. In the air, you're just an "N" number.
there's nothing quite like gettting in a Beaver for the first time, and seeing those controls marked De Havilland. We all know what that's like, if you're darn lucky enough to fly in one.
Harrison is right as a pilot when your up in the air all your worries and stress just go away your just at peace with yourself. I became a pilot at age 17 on Dec.19th 2007
Hey harrie baby...If you ever get tired of havin all those aircraft...ill gladly take one off your hands! im not picky but... the chopper would be nice
@rogerlee337 It's just money bro. They make tons of it each day. I'm telling you, flying is well worth it. If you get into the airline business, you'll pay off your lessons in no time.

I got to meet Harrison this weekend in Denver and see his Beaver in person. He was flying kids at a Young Eagle rally along with a bunch of other pilots including myself. In total we flew 60 kids. That is one beautiful plane and thanks for the great video.
This is my favorite film! It' s wonderful to watch Harrison Ford flying his helicopters and his airplanes. it goes to show he's an amazing actor but also an amazing pilot
