@jacob12721 yes it is still called interfearence on the batter because the batter has the rite in the batters box only when the balls being pitch, when the catcher recieves the ball the batter has to move out of the way of the catcher so she can do her job. If the batter is in the way like she was and it clearly showed it, it is interfearnce. I knw because i play softball and i am a catcher!

This is one of those rare times where stupidity and no coordination make me wonder why she was even catching? or even on the team? That aside, I'm a baseball player(catcher) and I hate this, because some umpires don't know the rules. (i dont know the exact rule) but the batter has the right to the batter's box, however, some umps call players out for standing there, my advice, duck, or if you're too big to duck, find a new sport.

I took one foot out of the batter's box and for some reason she was walking towards me when I didn't know. She has a VERY bruised elbow.

I've no idea what happened, but if nobody was running or stealing a base before the ball hit the helmet, the ball was still in play after it hit the batter. So the catcher was wrong in throwing at the batter's helmet. So the ball was still in play, the runner scored and the batter was still at bat

the batter has a RIGHT to the batters box.. Any play outside one at home plate, the batter is supposed to remain there until the ball is dead..(Unless of course, the batter is walked and/or he/she got a base hit)

In reference to the batter, a ball that has been pitched is a dead ball, so therefore the batter has the responsibility to get out of the way. Think of it this way, if the runner would have been trying to steal home and there would have been a "play at the plate" and the batter got in the way, that would be called interference by the batter. That is the same thing that happened here.
