Great video, but the only thing i didn't like was at 7:45 where he didn't support the fish. It's import you support the fish especially with a fish that size.
@wnek45 No he was not weighting it, the tool is to grab the fish but u still need to support it. If you wanna weigth the fish you should put it in a weighting bag.
Have a look at some of the Mick Brown videos on Pike (Muskie) fishing and see how he handles them without the need for a contraption. Worth a look and he's a nice bloke too !
Prime example of all the things NOT to do when handling a Muskie. First keep them in the water as much as possible. Measure it while it in the water and remove the hook while it’s in the water. Second, hanging it on a Boga, by its jaw is very hard on the fish. If you want to get the weight, weigh it in a net. Finally, don’t hang a Pike or Muskie vertically. Their organs are suspended inside their body and when the fish is held vertically it puts a lot of stress on them and can do serous damage.
Yeah how stupid these camera angles are totally unbecoming, and i think that guys nostrils flare way too much and some people like cinnamon toast crunch but i don't like it because I'm allegric to cinnamon, and there's something about nylon shirts that i just hate. 2 thumbs down.
@ilovepotco I've caught three in the last week using a 3" white grub worm on a 1/8th oz jighead at pineview. My advice is fish for small mouth and work alot of water. If you don't hook a muskie you'll at least get some smallies.
Saw one no more the 8 feet in front of me out in Eastern Washington today, couldn't catch one though. Truth is I wasn't even sure what lure to use etc. to even interest on.
The record setters are at Pineview anyways; last October I pulled a 24lb 48 inch muskie trolling in about 18ft of water using a pumkin colored worm on mono line no less. I really shouldnt have caught him, he didnt fight much so i think it was sick or injured or something. Either way, i have a lot better muskie stories come out of Pineview than Newton
Tiger Muskie Love a 1/8 ounce Black Mister twister Jig, The thing about all these big lures, you catch one fish per thousand casts,, Here in Minnesota I found I can out fish the big stuff 4 to1 on a jig,, Little harder to land them with light tackle but it makes for the fun of it..Check out my muskie fishing,,, I moved here from Utah 4 years ago, the fishing is the only good thing about minnesota
I will agree with fisherjim, you guys kept that one tiger out of the water for longer than needed. I dont keep mine out any longer than I can hold my breath. Maybe 2 minutes or so. How big is Newton? How many fish get planted per year? Looks like a hell of a place to fish with the mountains and all. Check out Washington State's Tiger program. and Ben, if you ever get up to Washington let me know. I'll gladly get u on some tigers up in Wa St. Todd Reis VP/Casacde Musky Association
The fact that this video was produced by the Utah Division of Wildlife is disturbing to me.....the one fish that is shown is out of the water for minutes rather than seconds. You people are making muskies out to be like sasquatch
That Super Believer Lure you had in Firetiger looked awesome for Tiger Muskies! Spinning reels are almost better than Casting for muskies some times!

He's not handling that muskie properly at all...however it is a hybrid tiger, and they are a little tougher the the common musky.

@ilovepotco little swimbaits tend to work good throwing them against the shore and bringing them back fast or slow, depends on the weather.

Ray ... you might as well throw that one in the live well. That was about the poorest example of how to handle a fish as can be found on video.
