a clear demonstration that two great nations can get along well. No religion, no politics, no race issues, just the worlds greatest music played by the worlds greatest musicians/composers.
With music like this the world is a good place to be. Peace to all.
Stevie Wonder is a freak. I remember seeing the grammys the year after songs in the key of life came out and the winner of the record of the year came out and thanked Stevie for not releasing anything during the year. I think he was making The secret life of plants at the time - not very well received by the critics but still a great album. There will NEVER be another Stevie Wonder.
Despite all our arguing and disputes about Justin Bieber and Ga Ga and whatnot, these ppl are above all of it. Music knows no racism, prejudice or discrimination. There's no wrong or right, no black or white. Just look at them, two ppl of totally different backgrounds making stuff like this, and think for a while how utterly useless it is, trying to prove everyone else wrong all the time instead of just concentrating on things that you like and getting the best out of those things.
Sting playing energetic bass - at LAST! So good to see the pure enjoyment on their faces. Especially on Sting's, at the end, when it's all done. That little outburst of energy: "Yeah! We're awesome!" This song is pure machismo, that is, Higher Ground. And it's all on Sting's face.
No pitch correction.......no auto tune...........just amazing musicians........for people who forgot what real music is supposed to sound like.......well look no further my friends......dont forget music is still alive and well its just that crappy music is the only thing on the radio.... go stevie and sting.......
@jakedavisband NOPE thats his voice but i see what you mean But stevie was singing live so the producers must have alttered it if you can hear auto tune hahahaha
@emanx222 of course he was singing live....and he was also using autotune. There are plenty of live autotuning filters, it's pretty common technology in the touring industry. just because it's not turned all the way up to t-pain doesn't mean he wasn't getting help. i'm not saying it's a bad thing, i personally think it sounds good, but he's definitely using it, no question.
@jakedavisband no STEVIE NEVER USES AUTOTUNE NEVER it must have been done after the performance and also how come it was only at that part. Anyways the fact is STEVIE NEVER USED IT hahahahahaha just get over it
@emanx222 hmm. I'm going to go ahead and guess that you know absolutely nothing about audio engineering or production, just based on the way your talking. In case you didn't know, live performances such as this are recorded from a high fidelity stereo out from the P.A used in the mixing booth. NOT from a digital usb interface. While the mastering team for this performance (which btw would not be called a "producer," there is no "producer" in a live concert performance, only session mixers.)
@jakedavisband would be able to do some editing with EQ and things of that nature based on the separation of frequency bands from the source mix, they would NOT have access to individual mono tracks from Stevie or anybody elses vocal. Thusly, there's no physically possible way that autotune would have been added after the fact, it could have only been a product of the source mix live. Not to mention, I just talked to stevie last weekend when he was meet and greeting some people at NAMM and
@jakedavisband he said ya he does use it sometimes and he doesn't give a shit, because he's stevie fucking wonder. So I apologize in advance if you feel like a really big idiot, because in reality I'm sure your only somewhat moronic.
@jakedavisband you are a FOOL stevie never uses autotune and as i said YOU IDIOT stevie never used it intentionally IT WAS DONE BY THE CO ORDINATORS and you still never answered my question how come it only appears at that moment HUH ANSWER THAT FUCKING GENIUS STEVIE SOUNDS SHIT WITH AUTO TUNE IT AINT RITE fooooool HE NEVER USED IT JUST ACCEPT IT
@emanx222 it sounds particularly evident during that moment because he does his sharpest slide of the performance during that section and thus the limit to key modifier on the tuning program (which could be autotune, but also possibly melodyne or a third party meant for live applications) is overdriven more than usual. However, it is still noticeable throughout the performance to someone with a keen ear. Something you obviously don't have. I wonder if you're trying to sound dumb on purpose or
@jakedavisband if you actually think you have a good argument here. I'm not being sarcastic I really have no idea. It seems impossible to me that a man could talk like that and think he was being intelligent.
@jakedavisband you are an idiot i mean stevies voice is naturally like that U DONT HAVE KEEN EARS NOT ME so pls listen to more stevie songs and realize the fact that HE DOESN'T USE AUTO TUNE IN PERFORMANCES ive told you it may have been done without him knowin
Love it! It seems like during 'Higher Ground' both Sting and Stevie Wonder's bass player are playing bass at the same time, does anyone know why? Thanks :)
@Redbulltom315 we can whine about the fucking kids, but at the end of the tunnel, who cares about the lost generation of biebershite, just enjoy your life and listen to great music.
i wish that people could create a device that allows Stevie to see again and then he could see all the faces that love him and have loved him for what he's done all these years.
@Sandler41882 U must KNOW about music to make that statement man¡¡¡ If you don`t "understand" it, or cannot "hear" it with a musician`s ear, your comment is not only irrelevant but ignorant. I love Stevie Wonder... his funk just makes me feel so tight and lose in the same period of time and it makes me see all these awesome motivational shapes that get me moving... thats what its about... not the intimidating style, fashion and 'hip' talk that goes into it... its about the very mental interpretation of the music... and the wonderful colours, patterns, feelings, emotions and shapes that it produces in our heads.
Never been a fan of Sting (Not implying that he sucks or anything, just not a fan of his music) but god motherfucking damn, this performance gave me goosepomps!!
@derocdero i agree with you about Justin Bieber hes an actor, and a fake pop star, however do your research, I have a sick obsession with Stevie Wonder but even I am musically unbiased enough to admit that lady gaga is extremely extremely talented, is a wonderful writer and IS unfortunately the one keeping music alive, I dnt like her music, correction i hate her music, shes no MJ, but shes still very talented and you are in no place to be insulting her, a true lover of music learns to APPRECIATE
@derocdero I'm definitely not a fan of Lady Gaga, but I think she's actually a great musician, look for "Lady GaGa - Eh Eh (Live @ Taratata)" on youtube, you'll be amazed ! :)
@derocdero Yes Justin Beiber, but whether or not you like Lady Gaga, she is very musically talented-- enough to get into one of the premiere musical schools in the country.
@derocdero chill with Gaga man, Bieber I can understand but Gaga's got talent, just not in the form you're not used to seeing. And don't go ragging me saying i'm not a Wonder fan because I am. look up her stuff that she did with michael buble on jazz numbers, its really interesting
@derocdero Sorry, you need to check out Gaga soem more. She plays the piano well and can sing - and I should add that I am not a fan at all! Stevie rules!!
