  • A keen sense of humour and satire there in the video.

    Well done!

(great track too, kudos to Goto80)

  • This is the very essence of chiptune. Thx goto80 !

  • Is this from an actual game or is it just made up for the video? It looks like fun.

  • Lol, copyright 1983, 1984 XD

  • "drums" not so cool. But anyway good video and good theme. Thanx =)

  • personally, i think it's perfect just the way it is... put this on "modern" instruments and percussion, and a lot of the appeal is gone, i think.

  • this song is awesome.

  • pure fkin genius.

  • Man, I love this! IT IS BRILLIANT.

James, what games did you write back in the 1980s?

  • Lots and lots of obscure homebrew ascii games for my friends that probably only a few ancient BBS users remember.

My favorite was probably Blast Brigade Four.

If you've got a DOS emulator and want some extremely lo-lo-lo-lo-fi games, feel free to message me.

  • Sorry Mega, it's not an actual game, just a demo I programmed specifically for the video.

Although I did used to write lots of video games back in the '80s.

  • Hey wait, where'd you get the game from? Can you give a link?

  • James Dingle is AWESOME! XD

  • Sturdy fence! Sturdy fence! There's an exploit if you build the sturdy fence! Enter "HLBT" to recover half the expense.

  • This looks better than Halo or Crysis or whatever other latest and greatest shooter - rpg - whatevr - that's out there. hehe

Seriously, nice art - programming - history - music - whatever you wanna call it. The cool little computer music brought it all together. Good job.

  • wow.

  • TURKEY TARGET PRACTICE!

  • music ties in with the "game" so well, actually gives me goosebumps down my back. really great song!

  • Very, very cool.

  • GOTO80 rules!!!

I just love this song and Fantasy!!

  • holy crap, this is awesome. sledding time!

  • please tell me that's an actual program that you wrote for frodo or c64

    that would be amazing

  • Thanks for the comments.

  • This is like super tight, weird, and freaky. And true. It scares meh.

  • the graphics are just sooo amazing! XD lol! Just kidding! well those old games are still allot of fun to play and all it was considered to be cool during the time.

  • Amazing.

  • Political 8-bit theater...excellent.

  • I think my favorite part is "the town meeting is chaotic. what do you do?" and he chooses "spout fiery rhetoric"

Saw it at the St Louis International Film Festival. A wonderful short.

  • nice... man... nostalgy : (

  • It's a demo. (Animation + music)

  • I asked him where I could download the game and he told me it's just a video. I wish it was a real game...

  • Pure brilliance from the genius also known as Anders Carlsson. Only someone as creative and clever like Anders would create a C64 demo with a political message. 5 out of 5
