  • I hope she realizes how much she meant to the gay community (not to mention the world in general). When she died, she left several 100 thousand dollars to a shelter for gay children abandoned by their parents... and she did it without any fanfare or need for publicity. Just an all-around good human being. I saw her during her one woman show tour, and she signed autographs after the show, and she was SO sweet. She even told an older gay couple "you two make such a great couple." We almost died

  • OMG I F*CKING LOVE BEA ARTHUR! What a classy lady <3 RIP Bea <3

  • oh god!!!!!!!

  • she was truly inspiring and gay rights activist supporter. what an awesome actress she is. her humor is hilarious on golden girls show.i like her sarcastic jokes on golden girls she does to rose lol.

  • I named my cat Bea after this woman :)

  • @bucketwoman so did I!!!! Except I named my cat Beatrice. I thought Beatrice was quite a unique name for a cat :)

    I LOVE Bea Arthur.

  • Love her, very classy, only Betty White is still living, too bad cause a Golden Girls reunion would have been great.

  • Bea Arthur is the best.

  • So sadly missed, hope she's having a ball in heaven!!

  • What a woman!

  • was i the only one that cried during this interview? Thank You For Being A Freind Bea!!!! I love you!

  • @IamSalsa1 Yeah I got weepy too...

  • What an amazing woman...she will always be missed as well as Estelly Getty and Rue Mclanahan...hard to believe that only Betty White is still living

  • These women were stars because of talent, not because of tabloid stupidity. They didn't need reality shows and bad behavior to be icons. Their iconic stature was a result of hard work and natural born abilities. Bea and people like her will live on for generations, do you think the same can be said about "Snooky" and the Kardashian trainwrecks? I think not.

  • OMG!!! I would DIE if I had a chance to see Bea Arthur walking down the streets.

  • man i love her so much , RIP

  • what a beautiful down to earth lady. i have always thought deep down bea was gay, but was from a time where her career would have been shattered and she would not been able to have achieved her enormous success had she came out. if she felt threatened to stay closeted for fear of blacklist, is sad. i hope that was not the case.

  • What a gem she was! So sad that's she's no longer with us:(

  • I totally love Bea Arthur. She was witty, funny, realistic, and a true actress. We all miss her terribly, but her memory still lives on with all of us. Thank you for posting this!

  • What a wonderful person! I had the pleasure of talking to her once on the telephone. I had asked her to autograph my DVD cover which she did. I then found her telephone in the LA telephone book and thanked her personally. Of course she had no idea who I was, but she was so diplomatic and so charming on the telephone! She will be truly missed!

  • the last part was so sweet..

  • It's impossible not to love this woman.

  • 145 people get it. One person is a jerk.

  • Wow, this was taken in 1997? She looked the same as she did in the late 80's :)

  • Wow, what a great clip I wished it was longer! I love Bea Arthur, and I'm gay too. I've recently bought the full 24 DVD set of the Golden Girls. Why do you think is it that gay people love the show Golden Girls? I can't explain so I'm asking you people here on Youtube. Cheers!

  • @shairaptor are you trying to say bea's gay?

  • @xxooxxoo3394 no "I'm gay too" was referring to many other comments on this channel where other state they're gay too and love the golden girls just like me :)

  • I love how excited she got to go see the "gay community"! She was right about how they have good taste! Although I'm not a homosexual, I do support their way of life, too ;)

  • What a lovely lady.

thanks for leaving the legacy of Maude and the Golden Girls.

I watch the Golden Girls all the time, I have all 7 seasons on dvd and I never get bored watching the episodes.

    RIP Estelle,Rue and Bea

  • I miss this woman so much, she is definitely one of the most incredible women out there.

  • she always seemed so young in a way what an amazing women just wonderful, we'll miss her for a long time

  • Love Bea Arthur and this is beside the point but it really annoys me that when people talk of the gay community they seem to ignore female homosexuals.

  • What a Gift to our world!

What would our world have been without Bea Arthur?

Not to mention the Golden Girls!

    Great Interview!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • I LOVE BEA RIP GIRLFRIEND WE MISS YOU!

  • ^

In tears. I miss Bea. I'm now grounded in the fact that Rue and Betty are not too far behind, and that worries me sick.

  • I share that worry. I like to believe that all of them are still living in that house and being as funny as ever. Dorothy and Sophia... I love you and miss you!

  • Aww......this just put an enormous smile on my face. I just love how Bea says that the reason so many gay men love The Golden Girls is because "they have great taste!"
