I think the only thing that is similar to this and WICKED is that both are very original. This musical beautifuly shows the effects of a mother's love for her handicapped daughter and the effects of those around her. WICKED beautifully shows the beauty of friendship beyond boundries. I think both are fantastic musicals, but I agrree with many on this comment section..this is Light in the Piazza so let's now discuss WICKED and focus on this fantastic piece.
I agree with you. I think in terms of vocals Kelli has Katie beat a little bit but I think in terms of power and emotion KRC is superior (again IMO) and she just conveys alot more. KRC was also ill for this I think. My friend saw this when KRC was on as Clara and said her high notes were superb
Doesn't mama (3:12) look like Joan Crawford in this shot?? Despite what mama says is being sung in "Aiutami", I like to think Brother and wife are also asking for help. Brother is asking God for help, 'what have I done, it was one kiss, and my wife hates me now, my life is ruined.) And oh, how sad when Clara says the truth out loud about parents' marriage (7:28); something only yesterday Margaret admitted to herself.
yes, but how far had they gotten? Fabr. tried so hard to resist her. :) Though the "Aiutami" song says "What have I done for a kiss?" That was a hell of a kiss though!
Not to the scale of Wicked? In my opinion, Wicked has been overhyped to death, and Piazza is a refreshing, beautiful addition to American musical theatre. The two don't remind me of each other at all.
LOL I love it when Fabrizzo's Mom breaks the fourth wall by saying "I don't speak English, but I have to tell you what's going on!" XD

yeah, TLitP is nothing like Wicked. I don't know how anyone could make that comparison.

This really reminds me of Wicked (although it isn't to that scale) but still this is a pretty good musical. I like it!

7:29...that look KRC has...its heartbreaking. It really shows how Clara is finally coming to grips and being her own.
