that's kinda fucked up, remote low level control of all modern systems, only a matter of time before this is exploited by an obscure security vulnerability.
Thanks for putting this up GeekVideo. I was interested in coreboot but had no idea that EFI was basically a "DRM BIOS" with a full network stack... eek ! Thanks for making me aware !
Got tired of this hp compaq nc6000, glad I didn't buy it anyways, got it from customizing a Mandriva Linux 2008 install for a great friend of mine. Going to write a custom admin cd, adding bios flash/utilties, w/all tons of diff bios/bin/firmware files to choose from. Removed my nice 2.5 notebook/hdd and placed it back in the NexStar3. HP, you suck!@ engineering notebook/pcs, way to go with limiting the users control.*not* Ordering an ASUS F3 Series F3SV-X4 NoteBook
Hell yes I never would have gotten a motherboard like the one I got if I hadn't used linuxbios until i figured out a bit more about the motherboard itself. ultimately though my decision to comply with coreboot/linuxbios hardware recomendations was what got the system I have that would be perfect for building BEAM robots with.
I'm totally reprogramming this proprietary SST eprom security embedded chip. If your running just a linux distribution on a system, why not have a linux bios, then you literally have full control over the linux kernel. Some guy in Mandirva, I can't recall his name, told me to check it out. Thanks to him.
I don't like how nowadays laptops are so much different than PC's. If laptops funtioned like any other PC, then there would be no problem with laptops, including running other OS's, different BIOS, etc.
perhaps there is a way to get rid of the NW stack? perhaps by an "option rom" you flash to your chip..

hmm odd. my video freezes at 3:43, i notice my ISP is the download source (mirror)... any way of choosing another one, or youtube itself?

lightspeed300> Its goal is to work on all motherboards, including in laptops. But theres a long way to go.

Great stuff. Wish it could work on laptops.
