Meanwhile, any private or charter school child may get free Atlantic Express bus service, paid for with the $44 million dollar subsidy by the city (the Independent Budget Office wants to stop this).

if a child wants to go to NEST and gets in, it will cost the parent $3000+ to get him/her there, or several hours/day on a subway (none are near the school) or city bus (still have to walk several blocks).

I have been in charge of transporting all the K-5 kids at one of my daughters' public schools, where wealthy parents have been paying $2600+ per year to get their children to/from the school, just as Joel has arranged through his discriminatory busing policy.

I have been with Betsy late at night from an unknown elementary school in Harlem to prestigious Stuyvesant High School and have witnessed her courageous advocacy on behalf of the parents, students and teachers, without any compensation whatsoever!

I think you have missed their own statistics somehow that have noted a slight improvement in only one grade of the 14 (the fourth grade---and even that was miniscule!). But her opening accusation against Mr. Klein, for which the busing situation was raised as an "example", was his "disregard for black and hispanic students". Excuse me?
