  • Well that place needs a lot of work, might have been cheaper to scrape it and start new almost, but I applaud the effort, it looks like it will be a very nice home. I'm curious what the ballpark price for a gut and full-rebuild place like that is. My own place is a 59' brick ranch, all-original (leave it to beaver stove and all) and I redid it all myself from the studs up, but this was in far worse shape than mine..

  • Yes, a tear-down and build new would definitely be cheaper. However, since the house was built in 1899 and is featured in several books and on postcards we wanted to preserve the history of it. Furthermore, with a tear-down we would then have needed to observe several setbacks from the property lines, and the house could never be in the same position.

As for a ballpark number: let's just say it's way out of the ballpark... :)

  • Hah! Ya I bet.. I was born in Natick and lived in a similar house from the 1800's, bit smaller though. Seeing the pics of the interior brought back some memories and I was just looking at bathroom remodels.. Good luck to you. :)
