ourselves here, in this crazy place, fighting and giving our youth to this cause. You are why my friends so willingly gave themselves. For love of their brothers, love of their families, love of their country, and the hope that our future generations will learn something from us, and help effect positive change. Thank you, and again, incredible job.
Your parents must be great people. You are proving they instilled in you the ability to be great yourselves. Your staff must be incredible. And your community truly cares to come together and give of their time to help you reach out to your generation about social issues. Keep up the great work, best of luck to all of you. You are already being great citizens of this country, by your acknowledgment of, and proactive approach to addressing, social issues. You, and people like you, are why we find
As I have moved on through these deployments, and up in the ranks, I have sent home more friends than I care to remember, to be laid to rest. After all these years, I have learned that our legacy comes not in our actions, but in the impact our actions leave, and the lessons our future generations learn from us. I lost a few friends in high school to drunk driving, and street racing. And you are learning to address the problem better than we ever did.
group of high school kids, with the help of their staff, is incredible. The extent to which this was taken, involving the HFD, the EMTs, the life flight helicopter. None of this planning could have been easy. But you pulled it off incredibly. You are proof positive that as the city grows over our childhood stomping grounds, nestled in the Aldine ISD area there are still families doing a great job of aising their children with a work ethic and values. I cannot tell you how beautiful it is see.
I am a graduate of Nimitz, class of 2002. I've spent the last 8 years of my life in the military, deploying and deploying again, in fact I am typing this from a tiny outpost in Afghanistan. Houston is my home however, it always will be, and I often wonder how the youth of our great city are treating it, and learning and growing in their surroundings, as we did. I am very proud of the people who made this happen. Great job. This looks like a monumental effort, and to know it was pulled off by a
they did this demonstration at my school today. This happens in real life about every 15 minutes. So to remind us that it was happening they came on the PA and Played the sound of a heart monitor flat lining every fifteen minutes throughout the entire day.
Wow, I cried at the end when the cop was telling all the parents. We do this every 4 years at my high school, and I think we're going to do it next year when I'm a senior. I really want to be a part of it. Great job!
@kialyn14 it depends what you consider to be fake...blood, brains?...then,yes. Cars, helicopters, hospitals, emt's, fire/policemen and many many hours preparing to make this happen ...no
@kialyn14 Yes it's fake....this is like a high school project against drunk driving and it's filmed y high school seniors with the help of different organizations
we just finished it up at my school. i cried so much at the funeral seen. it shouldn't take a skit to get the message across that drinking and driving is stupid and can kill. we are not invincible, and it takes a split second for everything and everyone we take for granted to disappear for ever.
My fire department does the same thing, Im 18 now I joined when I was 16 and got my EMT certification at 16 1/2. Our school sets it up in the parking lot and the fire department is actaully toned out for the accident and we respond to the school from the firehouse(s.
we just did this program this past week in Bryan, Texas. it was super realistic. it was pretty much just like this. every 15 minutes, a girl dressed as death came to a class, painted a persons face white, and they were considered a victim, becase every 15 minutes, someone dies in a car accident because of drunk driving. we had a memorial for the ones who died in the simulation.
wow when they did this i was like wtf till my friend explained to me wat waz happenin.. we were in class, they wouldnt let us out to see this whole show lol
to all teenagers please don't drink beer it can cause somuch pain to the people who love you and will kill you and your friends and there is nothing that can bring you or your friends back from the dead iam a firefighter can have seen to many teens like you and your friends die from drunk drivers it is heartbreaking to have to tell the parents that their child has died due to a drunk driver that thinks you or she can drive after drinking some beer the sad fact is that young people
thanks to everyone whose commented. unlike the person under this comment you guys appreciate the good that we try to do to get our area recognized. it was an experience i'll never forget. be safe guys and remember tomorrows never promised!
Like I remember when they had us all walk outside and see the simulation crash.Like I knew it wasn't real but..seeing them carry away Leonard and Ronald I almost cried!
And then when they showed us the second part I DID FREAKING CRY! I was soo mad after that, like I had spent so much time on my make up!LOL
But I liked the message it sent to all us seniors!
