Guys, Eden Espinosa did the most spontaneous and anthusiastic Maureen ever, her only problem is not to be as famous as Idina or Nicole, but in the end, all them did great and different Maureens, but I agree that Tracie is the best Joanne, she´s a great singer also, good to watch her...

I'm so glad you shot and posted this. It was even better on Sunday night! :) They're both wonderful but Nicole is a phenomenal well rounded talent. You can see the confidence that Dancing with the Stars instilled in her. She is intelligent and elegant in an old Hollywood way. All pop stars should take note, you don't have to show your twat to be a success, just super talented. Evidenced here. Thank you for sharing this incredible theater! <3

Tracie Thoms is literally THE ONLY Joanne I can find/see. That takes definite talent. And my image of a perfect Maureen remains Idina Menzel, but I think Nicole did pretty well too. All in all, I think they did pretty well. I wasn't very keen on Vanessa, but whatever.

@NatalieGoesByBubble my only complaint about Tracie as Joanne is that she didn't look the part in the movie (see my comment below to Sinistra). But that's really not a negative comment about Tracie per se; it's more a criticism of the costume designer who should have had Tracie wear a wig and told her to either gain weight or wear padded clothing under her costume to make her look fatter.

@Sinistra76 so what did you think of Fredi as Joanne? I actually liked her better than Tracie. Tracie's got a good voice but she didn't really look the part. Fredi was heavy-set and had long curly hair, and since she originated the role, that's what I expect "Joanne" to look like. Tracie does look a little more like Joanne here than she did in the movie because she's wearing a wig and she appears to be a little less skinny (though she still looks fabulous.)

@beckyboston See, I saw RENT live at a theatre seminear my house when I was younger (my first time seeing it), and then I saw the movie. So... Tracie kind of is my vision of Joanne. I don't mind Fredi - she's a good singer, but Tracie's still kind of my picture of Joanne. I also remember I used to not like Maureen (when I saw the movie) and now... she's my favorite character, soooo..... xD
