  • such a nice guy would definitely been a future champ!!! was so sad to hear he passed away such a likeable personality!! never met him but watched alot of interviews and obviously watched him on wsm always such a cool and nice guy! R.I.P Jesse Marunde your gone but not forgoten!!!

  • How could anyone bad mouth this man? Jesse Marunde was the nicest professional sports celebrity I ever met. I met him face to face during the Essington PA Strongman contest in 2004. He took a lot of time to talk to my brother and I about lifting weights etc. I was a former member of Marunde Muscle, and Jesse private messaged me Christmas Day 2005. I am still genuinely saddened by his passing. I can only imagine how his personal friends and family feel. Jesse Marunde was a VERY KIND man.

  • Rest in Peace, Jesse.

  • He could of been the best ever, he had the talent. It's easy to bad mouth a dead man all the haters need to GTFO!

  • yea this guy compared to normal people he was like hercules but to other strongmen he was average joe if he would have lived he prob would have been the next best stronman in the world

  • how'd he die?

  • Surprised he couldn't close that gripper. He certified on the coc #3 as a teenager and that looks like a heavy grip.

  • that's really sad

  • so sad just found out hed died cant believe it i just thought he was injured or something god very very sad r.i.p jessie

  • RIP, Jess! You were the best.

  • Jesse was my favorite... so young, so strong, he could have been really great. He did not have time to peak.

  • RIP Jesse.

  • RIP Jesse.

  • how did he die? steroids? overeating?

  • dude was a bad ass and my hero. rip bud

  • i used to be such a big fsn of world strong man den stoped dunno y i did ,, but only realised the other day dat he had passed away ,, rip my man ,,

  • Magnus Samuelson break 350 pounds gripper in his hands. Get some info before you start spreding shit about that. Besides Magnus have the strongest arms in the world. Jesse compare to Magnus is average Joe

  • What did he pass away from?

  • He had an enlarged heart

  • hypertrophic cardiomyopathy..its a heart defect

  • [*]

  • his little sister is one of my friends and she thinks about him 24/7 she loves him very much and she is only 12 or 13

  • This guy had alot of potential and the only one who was a big threat at the WSm competition to Pudzianowski

  • how did he die?

  • RIP Jesse!

  • omfg respect for this man. training fom 13 to 27! pro lifter

  • rip bro!

  • Wish he was still here

  • he died from a CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT jackass.

And he left a legacy far past anything he ever did in the strength sport. What have you done? You should hope to help half as many people if you live twice as long.

  • @threewhitelights

Dude 100%! There should not be 1 negative comment about this man anywhere!

  • @ocpowerlifters Agreed. It's all the people that coudn't do a quarter of what he's doing that talk. A bunch of people with bitch tits out there.

  • it is so, if he didn't do strongman he would still be here, it was his choice. When a rockclimber dies from falling of a rock or when a race-car drver dies people understand it, when a strongman chokes it's more like why did he do this. It's about feeling alive!

I feel alive when I lift, schumachers felt alive when he raced, etc. You can live more in 5 minutes than some do in in a whole lifetime.

  • Shitheads like you are always the first to put down the accomplishments of others and the last to ever accomplish anything yourself. Go live a long life of cowardice.

  • My cousin Jesse truely loved God and that was the center of everything and it showed. He was the other pea in our pod. He had no hate. When I lost my fiance he flew down to spend time with me and held me tightly to tell me that God has a reason for everything, even if we don't know what it is yet.Jesse passed away for a reason but not without leaving a legacy behind. So, to GunnAkimbo2007, find Jesus he's waiting for you. To my best cuz Jesse, see ya soon cuz! Bum Bum

  • He was a tremendous athlete i followed his WSM competitions for a long time and all of a sudden "he was gone" was a sad loss!

    GOD BLESS HIM !!

    And you as well!!

  • Gunnz, what does the average slob contribute to society? And do you not understand what passion is?

  • How about inspiring other people he had never met to train hard and be healthy? I'd say that's a HUGE contribution given the terrible state of most people's health in North America.

  • @GunnzAkimbo2007 You are an idiot and you think you are analyzing this man in some philosophical context, but stop; YOU ARE JUST A NOBODY

  • Anyone know why/how he died?

  • No way! He is dead? Really? I guess I have been under a rock. When did he pass away? Are you guys serious? I have to google this now. No way cuz he is such a cool guy. :(

  • wielka postac szkoda go bardzo

  • This man was the nicest person I ever met and the nicest professional athlete you could ever meet. He was a great Strongman and much more importantly a great human being.

  • arnoldismynigga! YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE BOOB! YOU CAN NOT BE SERIOUS! THIS GUY COULD BEHIN-NECK PUSH PRESS 500lbs LIKE ITS NOTHING! YOU SHOW ME MANY OTHERS WHO CAN DO THAT! YOU ASSHOLE

  • I went to this show last year, it was cool and again this year i went to it but it would of been better if Jesse was there.Jesse is a really nice guy with a big heart. Rest in peace

lots of love to the family members and friends.

  • This video is in idaho...he came 2yrs in a row. I was at this show i took pics with him. He really was a good person you get that from him right away just from one meeting i knew this was a good man. Rest in peace. God bless all who view. Plz ppl have respect for the dead and their family.

  • Yeah the show was badass with jesse and his buddy lifting the blue and orange Dumbell go BSU I meet him too and he is a nice guy.

  • arnoldis go fuck your mom you make me sick ass fuck!!!!

  • That's some pretty evil shit. You should have really used your brain before typing that. We can all get off and say stuff from the safety of our keyboards, but that was really disgusting.

  • mediocre? he placed second in the worlds strongest man competition, second in the world is pretty far from mediocre....

  • Well You are not representing the US so I guess You deserve to die 100x faggot

  • dont even respond to crap like this. someone isnt a good representative of the us (which is untrue in the first place, but anyway...) so he deserves to die? troll

  • ur a piece of fuckin shit

  • Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

lemens terms: he had an extremely rare birth defect which causes the heart to enlarge continuously. It would not have mattered if we worked out or not because his heart would have continously grown. Supplements probably wouldnt have helped either.

  • i have somthing like that my heart is 4cm to big. for my hight.i think im going to diey early in life but o well.thats life.

  • Jesse Marunde will live on as a legend of strength. He will never be forgotten! Let us only remember and celebrate his life and not his death.

  • hahaha. "I hate fitness..." RIP Jesse, a true Strongman hero, and one of a handful of American greats.

And sad to say but an enlarged heart usually comes from having too much body mass, same thing happened to Andre the Giant. R.I.P Marunde

  • I think it was a genetic disorder.

  • howd he die?

  • most autopsy's are hushed because of life insurance issues..take Bruce Lee, from the inside whispers, it wasn't death from meprobamate but something else entirely that we'll never know about..so I hear..

  • ye it was genetic.

  • i only found out an hour ago, after watching the strongmanmasters from muscle beach, where he came third, and looked great.he was showing off his 5-day old daughter.I'm gutted,he seemed like a great guy,and a force for the next ten years of strongman. rip jesse.

  • RIP jessie he was a gr8 guy an won't eva b forgotton

  • he died of an enlarged heart read the autopsy and no drugs were found in his system

  • ese hombre es un dios!!

  • qewr4231,

That's not in question. Yes, he was on steroids.

Not everyone who juices is quite so susceptible to steroid-induced heart disease but Jesse Marunde clearly was. What a terrible shame - just not worth it.

Incidentally, yes, a farmer's walk - long distance or no - builds/requires muscle endurance, but is also cardio-intensive in the extreme.

  • so that all you guys know, Jesse Marunde's tox screen came back negative, completely clear. He died from a CONGENITAL genetic heart defect known as a hypertrophic myocardium, or an enlarged heart. Maybe next time you should try to actually get to know the people you are accusing.

  • If he was drug free how did he do so well against people who have tested and were found to HAVE plenty of drugs... this does not make sense.

  • tested? what major strongman competition has ever been tested? There are drugged and drug-free guys alike in WSM and IFSA. Get a clue

  • he did cardio!

  • sorry

  • jesse did NOT die of steroid abuse.

    dont even say that.

  • Rest in Peace.

    Bigger guys die younger.

Jesse Marunde was a blond-haired blue-eyed white guy, 6'5 tall, weighing 330lbs, but he died only 27 years of age and died quickly and died painlessly. It was so sad.

  • when was this video made/when was his knee surgery?

  • knee/thigh surgery

  • Bigger guys die younger.

  • there are multiple heart problems that are difficult to detect in a physical that can cause this and you go straight for the needle without any proof other than he set out to find his limits, how about you? do you do anything with your life, or do you spend it all online insulting others?

  • jesse didnt die of steroid abuse.

they dont know his cause of death fer sure.

never ever say that, if you dont know fer sure.

jesse was an amazing person and he worked for his body, and his strength and just because he died at 27 doesnt mean it was steroids. that is so rude.

  • so Jim Morrison was on steroids too?

  • i didn't know he died he was born in the state that i live in and i had no idea, what happened?

  • Amen Jesse Marunde was a warrior in the Lord Amen
