@checchia I wish I could help you with that. You'd just have to look around gun auction sites, and trader forums and gun shows. I am not in to S. American or other mausers really other than the Yugo, Czech and Turk mausers I have had in the past. I currently retain my K98.
Hi there i love collection i just got mine its from 1944 makers mark is a ce 44 for jp it also has an x is there anyway to check the number to a person can it be done?
@TheWeini666 Yes, and a shame someone chopped the stock too! When I bought it I didn't know it was supposed to be there, I thought someone whittled their initials in it. Much to my surprise, it's Bavarian!
oh forgot to add too that the yugo mauser I noticed it had a dark filled in circle on the side of the buttstock and I found out that means it was an ex calvary rifle. it had a hole there for some type of mount and then filled in when it was rearsenaled in 1947
I know the vid is old but I just had to comment. I love mil surp rifles and recently got into mausers. just a few days ago I got a 24/47 mauser. Just wanted to say great collection of mausers those are nice. and I do have to say its hard finding info on these yugo mausers. Ive been finding mixed information on these rifles.
@odin5150 Hey dont go knockin of the belgians...they made some very nice mausers. And without the gew (gewehr or "rifle" cause apparently you dont know) there wouldnt have been a mauser k98. Becuse the gew came first...so how could it be a knockoff? you nead to bone up on you're knowledge.
@edwardwills It must have been converted at a later date by a different country, or someone converted it to that caliber for a hunting rifle. There was no .308 in 1916. Any more details on the rifle? Who made it? Pics? Vids?
@MarshalZhukov He's talking about the Spanish Mauser. The Spanish converted them in the 50's. Only safe with NATO loads. Commercial 308 generates to much chamber pressure. In most cases the rifles are based on the Mauser 93 action.
@edwardwills Look into spanish mausers, they converted to .308 and the country has an extensive histroy using mausers. I'm not sure if they still had 1926 rifles after WW2 when they started converting rifles to .308
My papa gots a Chilean Model 1985 Mauser. He sanded it, and just refinished it with some Minwax. He found a bayonet that fits it, but get this, it's over 100 years old, and has never been sharpened. No blade, no edge i mean, it's still a square edge.
@TheBobafett13 Don't worry mate, i found a Swedish M-38 Mauser, even better than what i wanted. It's such a beautiful rifle. Great blueing and great wood codndition.
@Spudsquatch96 Can't tell you anything on these kinds of Mausers. Not anything I am really very interested in. If it were a Mosin, I could help you out. I bet Google will know quite a bit about them.
@jasonwainwright83 I don't know much about S. American Mausers. I don't have any interest in or have ever researched them, so I can't help you with this. Google would probably do a lot better than me. Hope you can find what you're looking for. Now if you had some Mosin questions, then I might be able to help you :)
Question, You seem to know what your talking about, What do you know about these turkish products? I got a WWII Turkish bayonot with case, Where these made for the germans? then sent off to germany for the war. Or was turkey in WW2?
@fordwillkillyou Turk Mauser bayonets will not fit any K98 or K98 variant to my knowledge. The space between the barrel and the bayonet mounting lug is too small to fit a Turk Mauser bayonet on to a K98. K98 and variant bayonets slide over the cleaning rod. Turk Mauser bayonets don't, and mount beneath the cleaning rod on the lug, with a tall muzzle ring that goes around the muzzle. How about some pics or a vid of it?
What about between the Yugo 24/47 vs the Czech VZ-24 from AIMsurplus? I think the VZ-24 seems to have a better finish on the metal. But I dont know which is the better rifle.
@MarshalZhukov the Vz24 has a slightly shorter barrel than the K98, but its performance is not dramatically affected. I like the vz24 over the K98 even though its almost one pound heavier, it works well soaking up recoil. It is also easier to find a VG-Excellent Vz24 over an equivalent grade K98
@kp7100 They are both good rifles. 24/47s are probably easier to find, and a little cheaper than a M48. I have seen many more 24/47s than M48s at gun shows. You can still buy 24/47s for $180 from J&G right now. That's where I got mine.
@all I must apologize for some misinformation. I had only head that the date could be found withing the crest. Upon further research it seems that the 1943 date stands for when Marshal Tito's government was established. There is no way to know when the rifle was made :(
@cpcw06 No problem. Situation has been rectified. Unfortunately there isn't a way to know when production was. It's in great shape, with a good bore. It was an excellent pick up. The stamp is the Yugo crest "29-XI-1943"
I agree with you about those Yugos. That one I have, only having shot it once, would be an absolute tack driver with a scope on it! I'd like to try out some of the Mojo peep sights one of these days. Maybe I can find some at the gun shows coming up here this month.
No, I don't care to look for any Spanish Mausers. I don't know why, but I just don't care for them. I'm sure that some nice ones were made, but they just don't gain my interest. I know there are some very nicely made S. American Mausers, as well as Swede Mausers.
I want either a mauser, a Mosin Nagant, or a Lee Enfield to be my first rifle (I'm working on getting my FID now). Which one do you suggest? I'm guessing the Mauser?
@magnum9987... not to start blasphemy on a mauser vid....but the mosin is damn hard to beat as a first milsurp gun...cheap to buy/cheap to shoot, reliable, easy to find(for the most part), and last but not least an absolutely amazing history...but if a yugo m24/47 is not a bad entry choice.
@StereoSoundAgent1 Availability isn't a problem for me, both ammo and the rifles themselves are available at the local bass pro shop. My big concern is maintenance and ease of shooting.
You can't go wrong with any of them! But, think about buying ammo to feed all the different calibers. You're looking at three different calibers of ammo. If you have any ideas if you're going to collect one kind, or all three then it won't matter. But, for the price, the Mosins are the hardest to beat. If you can't decide, draw one out of a hat. If you're eventually gonna end up with one of all three, look for a German K98. Depending on your funds of course. Those can get expensive!
@MarshalZhukov How does the accuracy of each hold up? As well as stopping power? I mean, the Lee Enfield is reportedly to be one of the most accurate combat rifles ever, but the Mauser also had a steadfast reputation, while I haven't heard much of the Mosin. Is their really any noticeable differance?
(this is important, I want to use whatever I got for hunting and target shooting)
Where do you recommend to look if I want to buy those mausers branded with the brazilian, spanish, israeli, yugoslav coat of arms?

Nice collection dude. You need to send some to the chop shop to have them customized. You need a 280 Rem Ackley on a 98-Mauser action.
