@BPMification Most likely, discarding faith and falling into despair, giving into sin (Envy/Jealousy is the 6th Deadliest Sin) and becoming a demon. Christianity is a well known religion and probably would make sense to Viewers of english desent (North/South Americas, Europe).

@SimonFallheart The brunette in here is Parsee when she was human. She apparently had a lover, but the guy cheated on her and had a family with somebody else. Her jealousy was strong enough to allow her to become a geisha, a Japanese jealousy demon. She came to the house where her cheating lover was and killed him, the other women, and their child. She was then seen as dangerous and was sealed underground.

Most of Touhou is fan theories. Some are accepted, others are speculation.

A geisha is a bridge princess driven by jealousy. If a couple walks over a geisha's bridge, she shall appear and demand that their relationship ends or they shall die.

If Parsee is a geisha (which she is), then she had to gain revenge on her lover that cheated on her to gain the power of a geisha.

In short, what I posted most likely is canon.

It's that Parsee, before being a youkai, it was probably, a geisha, and was in love with a man. But the man fell in love on another girl instead, and married, making Parsee jealous to the point that the own jealousy came and got her. Then she turned into the jealous and misunderstood youkai we know and love today, and killed the man, the girl and the children. Because people saw that she was very dangerous, she was sealed away. That's what I understood.
