You know nothing of the context of that verse, OR Joseph's dedication. Read the book of Numbers chapter 6. You'll learn of the Vow of the Nazirite. JAH lays down rules and guidelines to make a special vow unto Him, and this vow includes letting the locks of your hair grow long.  Research before you make accusations.

You do realize that Numbers 6:18 was talking about when the vow was over, right? All the days of your vow you are to grow the locks of your hair long, it says specifically THE SIGN OF YOUR DEDICATION IS UPON YOUR HEAD. Don't quote to me the verse that is talking about when the vow is over to dis-credit me that is misinterpretation of the scriptures. And yes the old testament law did command Jew's to keep short hair except for the sides of the head, but Nazirites were seperated unto God.

So are you saying that the vow is now void, or doesn't exist? Nazirites didn't take the vow only so they could cut their hair, that is not biblical. What about lifelong Nazirites, Samson, Samuel and John the Baptist? Did they take the vow only to cut their hair and sacrifice it? No, they had their vow for their entire life, dedicated from the womb. If Hebrews thought the Nazirite vow was only good for cutting their hair, no one would dedicate their child for life in the womb.

And since now our body is the temple in which Ruach HaKodesh now dwells, we can shave our locks and burn them anywhere. Burning the hair is not the sacrifice you see, growing the hair is the sacrifice. We sacrifice normality, and closeness with society to stand out and look strange, just as in the days of old. Long, unkempt hair will never be accepted by society.

TwilitParade, you appear misinformed about Joseph Israel. His father was a promoter of Reggae shows and they began taking regular trips to Jamaica when Israel was a young teenager. Eventually Joseph studied with the island's Rasta Edlers. He has astute knowledge of the scriptures and reads them voraciously.

His accent is typical of non-Jamaican Reggae Roots artists and it's a show of respect for the tradition of the music.

First off, there is no "Rasta accent" Rasta is a spiritual movement that has nothing to do with where one is from. I think you meant Jamaican accent, which brings up my second point. Like 1RastaWarrior said above, Joseph has been making frequent and extended trips to Jamaica since he was young. He doesn't sing with a Jamaican accent, he sings with a fusion of American and Jamaican. It's extremely common to pick up some accent when you are around people for long periods.

Try living in England for an extended period of time and not even slightly picking up the british accent or mannerisms. It's almost unheard of not to pick it up. So Joseph isn't faking his accent, it is just fused with his American accent. Put him next to a real Jamaican talking and most people wouldn't be able to understand them, because of how thick their accent is.
