You know nothing of the context of that verse, OR Joseph's dedication. Read the book of Numbers chapter 6. You'll learn of the Vow of the Nazirite. JAH lays down rules and guidelines to make a special vow unto Him, and this vow includes letting the locks of your hair grow long. Research before you make accusations.
"Then the Nazirites will shave their heads at the entrance to the tent of meeting, take the hair as proof that they had made this vow, and put it on the fire under the fellowship offering.
and
Acts 21:24 Take these men, go through the purification ceremony with them, and pay the expenses to shave their heads. Then everyone will know that what they've been told about you isn't true. Instead, they'll see that you carefully follow Moses' Teachings.
You do realize that Numbers 6:18 was talking about when the vow was over, right? All the days of your vow you are to grow the locks of your hair long, it says specifically THE SIGN OF YOUR DEDICATION IS UPON YOUR HEAD. Don't quote to me the verse that is talking about when the vow is over to dis-credit me that is misinterpretation of the scriptures. And yes the old testament law did command Jew's to keep short hair except for the sides of the head, but Nazirites were seperated unto God.
Not to mention that through the sacrifice of Yeshua we are no longer under the 613 commandments of the Torah, we have been liberated. Not by works but through faith are we saved, so that no man may boast of his own works.
1Jn 2:7 Dear friends, it's not as though I'm writing to give you a new commandment. Rather, I'm giving you an old commandment that you've had from the beginning. It's the old commandment you've already heard.
we still keep the 10 commandments of YAH and not MOSHEHS 603 books of the LAW
you say i misinterprete scripture? no, all i did was give u scriptures, YOU choose not to hear because its telling u to cut ur hair.
2Pe 1:20 First, you must understand this: No prophecy in Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation.
LET SCRIPTURES SPEAK OF ITSELF!
and u do know that the nazarites grew there hair only to cut it and put there hair under the alter of sacrafices? but now the we dont need to offer sacrafices anymore since the Moshiach died for us 2000 and some yrs ago.
So are you saying that the vow is now void, or doesn't exist? Nazirites didn't take the vow only so they could cut their hair, that is not biblical. What about lifelong Nazirites, Samson, Samuel and John the Baptist? Did they take the vow only to cut their hair and sacrifice it? No, they had their vow for their entire life, dedicated from the womb. If Hebrews thought the Nazirite vow was only good for cutting their hair, no one would dedicate their child for life in the womb.
And there is no rule against Nazirites being Nazirites for extended periods of time, to life. And since now our body is the temple in which Ruach HaKodesh now dwells, we can shave our locks and burn them anywhere. Burning the hair is not the sacrifice you see, growing the hair is the sacrifice. We sacrifice normality, and closeness with society to stand out and look strange, just as in the days of old. Long, unkempt hair will never be accepted by society.
That is why it is called Nazirite. From the Hebrew word Nazir, which means "seperate" We are seperated to the Lord. Why do you protest against this vow so much, do we not believe the same God, and the same Messiah, Yeshua? Why is this vow a negative thing to you?
If you read the Torah and apply it to ur life, then u are really set-apart.
i believe in YAHUAH the Abba and His Son YAHUSHUA HA MOSHIACH, not God and yeshua, yeshua name has been mixed with islam language, translated bak to Hebrew means let his name be blotted out.
i am only following what he says to me, i am not a nazarite or a israelite, but i am a (B'nei Shalom) child of peace through the perfect blood of YAHUSHUA HA MOSHIACHS sacrifice in LOVE that i believe in our Creator. Do you believe in HIM and His Son?
Nothing in the Torah is negative to me, but i am against people who do say they are believers, but finds their hands in the world too. You cannot serve two masters, CHOOSE!!!!! and get off the fence
I'm not on any fence, I have been cleansed through the blood. And the name Yeshua is Aramaic, which is the language He spoke. Even though it has roots in a Hebrew name, and He was Hebrew, He was named the Aramaic form of the name Yahshua, because the language they spoke was Aramaic.
it wasn't aramaic! the true language was Ha Shems, which was called "HEBER" named after his son EBER genesis 10:21,24, and Luke 3:34,35 KJV.
Ishmael was not aloud to mix with his brother Isaac, only because his mother haggar was egyptian and she was teaching him about there gods, but issac was to keep the language of his great, greats Eber, which is Hebrew not aramaic.
YAH, not jah or ye or anyother style. No "j" in hebrew, so were did u get jah from?
yes, it already is accepted. You are not strange to the world because they love it,
James 4:4 You unfaithful people! Don't you know that love for this evil world is hatred toward YAH? Whoever wants to be a friend of this world is an enemy of YAH.
Sodomy promotes long hair for males.
1Co 11:14 Doesn't nature itself teach you that it is disgraceful for a man to have long hair?
YAH DEMOTES IT.
who are u listening too?
keep YAHS 10 LAWS then u will look strange 2 da world.
The letter to the Corinthians was just what it says it is, a letter TO the Corinthians. They made the remark about the hair, because in Corinthian culture, male prostitutes had long hair. That comment wasn't made to say no body ever should have long hair.
yes, the greeks have played a big role in the styles we have today. Hence they made our Moshiach have long hair, and he did not!! engraven images, breaks the second command. exodus 20, and ur last comment, YAH said in His Word, that should be enough.
Num 6:18 "Then the Nazirites will shave their heads at the entrance to the tent of meeting, take the hair as proof that they had made this vow, and put it on the fire under the fellowship offering.
and you say its not biblical!
Look, samson obeyed a command not to cut his hair, it wasnt his hair that had the strength, it was the obeying on the command that he was blessed with strength, and were does it say that john and samuel had long hair in scripture? remember 2 pet 1:20, don't assume!
It's not an assumption, the Nazirites were commanded to grow the locks of their hair all the days of their vow. If someone is a lifelong Nazirite, it is not an assumption to say they had long hair.
Also, I didn't say it was un-biblical, I simply said that the scripture you provided is specifically talking about the end of their vow, that means throughout the time of their vow they grew long hair. It's simple reading.
To me the trinity isn't that big of a deal. I do believe in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Whether or not they are all equally God, doesn't seem to change my faith very much.
i believe in the Father and the Son as 2 seperate beings, there is no 3rd being, so called holy spirit. Christians have that concept wrong all over the world, this is the holy spirit which i think u can understand.
"Ruach Ha Qodesh"
means "set-apart word"
The Holy spirit IS the WORD or TORAH, the written Word which we have today, phyiscal and tangable with facts and evidence enfront of us BLACK and WHITE and RED.
if anybody believes that the holy spirit is a 3rd being, it is a big deal because it is dealing with their salvation, No one goes to the Father accept thru me john14:6, satan knows this and he will put anyone infront of the Son of YAH i.e buddah, mahummod, joseph smith, holy spirit as a being, and on..
the Father and Son is "Echad" one in "UNITY" they move in unity with each other and if we follow His Word and keep His Laws of Love, we r UNITY with them too.
Blessed love beautiful children. May Jah uplift your hearts.
TwilitParade, you appear misinformed about Joseph Israel. His father was a promoter of Reggae shows and they began taking regular trips to Jamaica when Israel was a young teenager. Eventually Joseph studied with the island's Rasta Edlers. He has astute knowledge of the scriptures and reads them voraciously.
His accent is typical of non-Jamaican Reggae Roots artists and it's a show of respect for the tradition of the music.
listen im not trying to be a dick. i just think the accent is ridiculous and unnecessary. it bothers me seeing a white guy do a rasta accent in the same way it bothers me seeing white kids from say honesdale (or any white middle-american town) speaking like their thug and from brooklyn.
It's art. Not an every day conversation numbskull. Do you think anyone cares if you're bothered? lol. Go get a guitar and learn to sing and play the way you enjoy.. Focus on something not negative.
First off, there is no "Rasta accent" Rasta is a spiritual movement that has nothing to do with where one is from. I think you meant Jamaican accent, which brings up my second point. Like 1RastaWarrior said above, Joseph has been making frequent and extended trips to Jamaica since he was young. He doesn't sing with a Jamaican accent, he sings with a fusion of American and Jamaican. It's extremely common to pick up some accent when you are around people for long periods.
Try living in England for an extended period of time and not even slightly picking up the british accent or mannerisms. It's almost unheard of not to pick it up. So Joseph isn't faking his accent, it is just fused with his American accent. Put him next to a real Jamaican talking and most people wouldn't be able to understand them, because of how thick their accent is.
Give thanks and praises to the MOST HIGH! Keep praising the most high, Joseph, Burn the haters, who should know only Jah can judge. If you dont know the true way of the Most High, you must look inside your soul, only you, can free our mind.

i'm really confused where the notion came from that in order to play reggae you have to put on a fake accent... First Matisyahu, now this guy. I mean come on. It's kind of symbolic because i'm seeing a lot of yehudim who go to regular college and not a yeshiva and join in on this new hippie-jah-judaism fad, and for the most part the attitude is as fake accent. Its a way to be into Judaism without fully conforming. Regardless, the song wasn't so great.
The hell are you talking about? Matisyahu has a Brooklyn accent. Also, rastas speak a certain way. They use words like "I and I" such out of respect for Jah.
one, if you think people from brooklyn sound like matisyahu sings, i'm not really sure how to convince you otherwise without taking you there. two yes rastas do say 'i an i' out of respect for jah. but neither this dude or matisyahu are jah. i didn't say they were trying to be rastas I just said they seem to think the accent is necessary to play dub/reggae. i'm in this guy goes "in your 'art" in his song. i can understand thats his influence but come on. if i thought this guy was authentic and meant his message i'd totally agree with you. but because he put on the accent it makes his motives suspect to me. maybe he's just trying to cash in on the same thing as matisyahu. that's how i feel about that whole thing.
yes actually i think metal bands that growl like that are stupid. did brad nowell ever put on a reggae accent? no, and they had PLENTY of reggae inspired songs. and you know what? sublime was fucking awesome and they did it their own way.

um i haven't listened to sublime in a while, but im pretty sure he did a little as well, maybe not as much, but he still did, and i think he put on a little spanish accent like in "caress me down"
Yea I agree with all of you. And we know that the truth shall set us free! These for sure are the days the prophets looked for. For the fullfillment of prophecy and redemption of all mankind. Out of all, not a one was lost. Yahshua bless!!!!

Yeah, the Judgment is at hand. Truth is the Judgment. Judgment is the Balance. It's God. It's Righteousness. It's Heaven(Zion). God(Zion)is Love, God(Zion) is Life. Hail Life and be. Life is the Most High, the Master Mind(Spirit). Mind(thought)is spirit. Remember, it is not us who create us. Anything with shape and form was(is) shaped and formed.
