  • prince albert taste like cigarette tobacco.

  • I love Prince Albert!

  • im native american.. i dont get tobacco taxes.. i better not, my tribe signed a treaty, and somone will pay if they think they can take my right to non taxed tobacco.

  • I'm positive that Michelle is behind these tax increases. She's been pestering Obama to stop smoking for years. Now that she's succeeded, there's no stopping her. It's time to drive the nanny-staters out of power and start reclaiming our personal freedoms. Can I hear an amen?

  • i'l bet their house smells nice with tobbaco smoke

  • tobacco in pipes is awsome

  • I love the video.

I have seen many parents who have been refused health care for their children because they make too much, $11,000 is too much/?

    Crazy taxes!

  • why would you smoke tobacco in a pipe anyways? put weed in that pipe bro

  • FIX the Republican party that the Regressive NeoCons destroyed.

Bring back Individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited Federal Gov't, competition between the Free States and competition among the FREE people.

No more Nation Building, No Foreign Intervention, No 700+ US military bases occupying almost EVERY nation on the planet PRODUCING resistance fighters!

No Isolationism (trade not tamper) and keep the giant corporations OUT of the people's pockets by ending Corporatism.

  • Politicians claim they raise taxes to make up for losses, losses they cause!

  • you two look like bretons

  • If you want to live in America as we KNEW it, we must either fight the bullshit or move to another country.

    America is NOT america anymore.

  • Tobacco kills 440,000 people a year. Tobacco is a highly addictive ,toxic, cancer causing substance. The government is collecting revenue (tobacco tax) and is thus a drug dealer.

  • No, the government is increasing the price of tobacco, thus reducing its consumption. If the government is a drug dealer, its a pretty bad drug dealer.

  • Sad thing about this is that they're going after flavored tobacco's as well, with the exclusion of menthol. Now some Cigarette Giant will walk off smiling in the end in america, because generally people don't smoke flavored cigarettes, but this could work for pipe and cigar smokers in the end, if we're lucky, because I have not seen a child smoking either. Many underaged smokers are conscious of their choice, or are simply buying cheap smokes out of peer pressure, and not tobacco companies.

  • Got a buddy who imports it from Cambodia and I pay him $15 dollars a carton. Funny you look on the carton and it says "British American Tobacco"

  • ya know , almost all aspects of fixing autos-chemicals , sealers , old oil , etc etc causes cancer ever hear any thing about that ? there are tons of things we do not hear about that cause cancer and if you don't read the fine print you wont know , at least tobacco prints in a large warning that's hard to miss , it's not good for people but neither are many other things we use ! with very very small or no warnings ?

  • dave997, eat a lot of vitamin C, it's the best antioxidant there is. low risk of getting cancer --> smoke with pleasure

  • Have any of you tried Criss-Cross pipe tobacco-smooth? It sells for $20 a pound and is supposed to taste like Top or Bugler tobacco.

  • Hi Qmore,

Nope, neither of us have given it a shot, but thanks to your recommendation, we will seek it out and give it a go ;)

    All the best, The Pipephreaks

  • where ? tiered of getting raped on prices !! $20-$25.00 a pound is about as much as i an willing to pay . or less sheesh !!!!!!!!!!!!!! now i am getting leaf for that price rediculess !! it's a plant not gold ! or pot !

  • I have been smoking Blenders Gold "Rich Vanilla " by Master Blendera. was $13.99 for 12 Oz now it is $18.99 for 12 Oz. Walgreens has it here in the Northwest. But for some reason of late it is burning my mouth......Not sure maybe I need to try another brand. But the cost is hard to beat>>>>>>Great video guys!

  • Hi Jer: Many thanks for writing. These tobaccos are string cut and burn fast and hot. The solution here is in the packing. Best to use the Layer Method of packing, by 3rds. The first layer should fill the pipe 2/3 full. Tamp down lightly but firmly, The next level should come up 1/2 up the bowl, pack this more firmly. The final 1/3 should take you up top. Pack so the draw is like drinking a milkshake thru a straw. On lighting puff gently and slowly. This should do it. All the Best, The Count

  • I will try that Thanks for the tip!!! You may save my mouth!!!!

  • @k6tpl here bugler is 25$ a can or tops

  • Hey guys,

I started with the Middleton blends in mid 70's in a sampler kit with a Big Ben pipe. Out of nostalgia and seeing your video, I picked up some of their Cherry blend, the only one at the drug store, not bad flavor but a got the worst case of pipe bite in many a moon! I guess it's because I mostly smoke English blends and not aromatics. I'm going to have to shy away from drug store aromatics unless you know a secret to get the bite down.

  • Hi David,

It is in the packing, pack too loosely, you will get tongue bite and these blends will burn hot because of the way the tobacco is cut. You have to pack the tobacco in the heel of the pipe so you get a very slight resistance, similar to drinking a milkshake through a straw, then pack a little on top of that. This will keep the tobacco burning slowly and coolly. I have had to dump and repack on some of these blends due to hot burning myself.

    All the best,

    The Count

  • Gentelmen first let me say How much I enjoy your Videos and love of pipes. I started smoking a pipe in 1967 when I joined the Coast Guard . My first tobacco was Sail. My Grandad smoked Half and Half ,Prince Albert and Walter Raliegh. I went to Walmart and $3.67 for 1.5oz. . That being said I Live Near the Indian Reservation and they sell there blends at $1.75 an Ounce. And Small Tins of Astons for $6.00. Keep upm the great work.

  • Hi Acacia, My grandfather, my father, and I have held H&H, Sir Walter Raliegh and Prince Albert and Middletons today. I still smoke these blends today. You are obviously a man of stature and traditional values - Welcome aboard! Best regards, The Count

  • i find prince albert to be a ok smoke but i smoke carter hall daily and i like it, :o)

but prince albert isnt bad however i think cherry blend burns hot in my opinion.

i spend $4 a 1.5 ounce for prince albert, cherry blend and of course carter hall.

great vid guys and count i love the hat.

    ~Aeris Sky

  • Hi Aeris,

Many thanks for the comments and compliments! There really are a lot of great tobaccos out there tha don't cost a whole lot but still provide a great smoke - and the most important thing is that it all comes down to enjoyment! Best regards - Tim

  • Great advice on cheap tobacco. I am new to pipe tobacco and pipe smoking and tried Prince Albert for the first time last week. I paid $3.40 for 1.5oz at Walmart and I could easily see making this my daily go to tobacco for the economics as well as the taste.

  • You are dead on! Prince Albert has been a strong seller since 1907. A century's worth of happy smokers have got to have been, and continue to be, on to something good. Glad you like it! Best regards - The Count

  • prince albert is a decent burley blend and i always recommend it for begginers,,,there no bad or good tobacco its the taste and preferences which judge u never know until u try

    cheers

    ahmad

  • Right on! Tobacco is a personal thing, however, since 1907 one heck of a lot of peopl have chosen and continue to smoke Prince Albert. All those people over a century can't be wrong - Best regards - The Count

  • 2:30am and I just came in from the pourch. Full moon. Beautiful. Puffing on my Savenelli churchwarden filled with H&H. Working on heel cake in that one while pondering the info in your vids. Great job, guys. Thanx.

  • Many thanks! We're coming at you with a vid on "The Recalcitrant Heel" that goes into breaking in via the "secret" ingredient.

    Best regards - The Pipephreaks

  • Howdedo fellas? My personal favorite is Half&Half. A cargo of contentment in the bowl of any pipe is their slogan. To me it tastes like a mixture of tobacco, caramel and coconut. Prince Albert, Carter Hall and even Middleton Cherry are all good, cheap weed unless your a tobacco snob who wouldn't be caught dead puffing on any of those blends. I like the premium blends like Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake, Orlik, MacBaren and Sweet Vanilla Honeydew, but give me H&H when I just want to smoke!

  • Right On!! My father used to smoke Half&Half all the time. My fondest memories are of H&H and my other fondest memories are of sucking on my dad's pipes when I was about 4 or 5 years old to get that good ol' Half & Half flavor! Right there with ya! - Best regards - The Count

  • KEWL! Looking forward to more from you guys. Keep up the good work.

  • They should tax coffee $23.00 a lbs

  • right on man, but don't stop there...how about a live feed from top government showing all us that they exersise each and every morning.

  • Hi Eric, You have a good sense of taste. Anise was a popular flavor (it is still popular as can be seen in the liqueur anisette) in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Both Tim and myself smell, but do not taste anise in this blend. Anise was also used in herbal based medicines, most notably for stomach upsets. As nicotine can cause stomach upset it seems logical that Middleton would have added this flavor. Great call. All the best, The Count

  • It (the anise) comes through a lot stronger in Middleton's 79, and even stronger to my taste in HOW's Field and Stream.

It's a taste that works for me in some blends, but not in those two.

Uhle's in Milwaukee uses some of that old timey stuff in their burley blends and I find it delicious but it ghosts pipes something fierce.

Have you guys ever tried any of Uhles blends?

  • Hi Eric, I haven't tried it, I am not sure if they distribute it out here because I haven't seen it on the shelves. I would like to give it a go, though, we'll look out for it. Best regards, Tim

  • PA is a good smoke at any price. I like Carter Hall too.

As for the tax on pipe tobacco, a few dollars a pound - something like a dime or two per ounce, isn't going to change my smoking habits. Of course, it'll make me look all the more closely at whom I vote for.

    Another great video! Thanks!

  • Hi Eric, You are absolutely correct, price is no arbitor of quality. Good is good. We have been enjoying Middleton's Cherry Blend all afternoon and evening. Best regards - The Pipephreaks

  • I gave Middleton's Cherry a try a few years ago. As I recall, it has a somewhat medicinal or anise-like taste in addition to a mild cherry flavor and rich burley base.

    Am I remembering it correctly?

Somewhere I have some PA Cherry. That stuff isn't bad either.

  • thank you very much, very appreciated!

  • Too bad the tobacco prices there are increased! I hope the prices get to normal soon there.

Here the price is okay I think

    Regards from Argentina

    Ana

  • HI: Many thanks -we LOVE your vids. Please Keep in touch. Best regards, The Count

  • Great video guys. I started out on so called " Drug Store " Tobacco. Now that I have tried, Boswell, Iwan Ries, McClellend and so on...it is hard to switch back to those blends, NOT because I am snobbish when it comes to my tobaccos, or that I think I am refined...but they give me the most wicked case of tongue bite I have ever gotten. I still have some in my tobacco rotation, but they are my " just in case " ones. Great video again, we all need some economic tips in these dark times.

    ~Eric~

  • Hi Eric: I understand, body metabolism causes people to react to blends differently. Blends with high content of Virginia tobaccos bite me no matter how I pack the pipe, and I have been smoking pipes for 50 years. But, that is what pipe smoking is all about, the Eternal Quest for the Perfect Smoke. Hang in there - Oh, my order of Boswell's tobaccos just came before. All the Best, The Count

  • Hi Eric: OOPS, many thanks for your support, it is greatly appreciated. All the Best The Count

  • Hi: Thanks for the tip. However, we are in NJ and don't smoke cigarettes, Your point is well taken, though, and more people are going to be creative about finding ways not to be vindictively taxed by their own ELECTED government. Best regards, The Count

  • I know a way to beat it!

GO TO MEXICO! Its 3 bucks a pack and about 15 bucks for a carton.

WARNING ONLY 2 ARE ALLOWED TO CROSS THE BORDER

  • Hi: Thanks for the comment. You may want to go to laughter1099 vids on tongue bite. Now, I am going to say this, each tobacco needs to be packed differently, BUT body metabolism can cause each person to react differently to tobacco blends, so, after a decent trial if a tobacco still bites then it is not for you. I personally cannot smoke high Virginia content blends- Virginia bites my tongue no matter what. So I understand your situation completely. Many thanks Regards, The Count
