  • that should have been a s-rank

  • I seriously think you know this game better than Sega themselves do. Awesome discovery.

p.s. To anyone that's wondering, Shadow's yelling "Vanish!" when he does the light attack.

  • Well, that was the most badass description I've ever read. Insane gameplay, SM.

  • description overkill much? whatever, I'm just glad you're back

  • when shadow does the light speed attack, does he say "badminton"?

  • He seems to be saying "BAM!"

  • Man, this is just incredible work, the explanation is excellent.

  • So, funny story, like, a bunch of years ago, I loved watching your videos, because SA2B was (and still is) my favorite game (sorry, Minecraft!). But, I didn't have a YouTube channel back then, because I was probably in like... 4th grade. But, I've been a YouTuber for a couple years now, and I just recently remembered your channel. So, I went to your cahnnel, and hoped that you still made SA2B vids, and now, I'm overjoyed to subscribe to you :D

  • one year later

  • Dude, you actually went through the game's files, searched for some little differences and nitpicks, and found THIS.

    AND you explained it.

    I <3 you.

  • Ultimate Victory indeed...

  • Why did you get hit and lose your magnetic shield near the end there in favor of a normal one? Are you too good for magnets? XD

  • There's a chain of light-dash rings that lead to the lost Chao area and the final 30 rings, and that doesn't work very well with a lightning shield. If I still have one that far in, I make it a point to take an intentional hit to ditch the shield, since there's a checkpoint just ahead that can get me back the regular shield anyway.

  • @SadisticMystic Ah, thanks very much for the swift response. Looking forward to more of your videos now that you're back!

  • I cannot describe how happy I was when I subscriptions told me SadisticMystic had a new video. Sorry about your Dreamcast, but congratulations on dominating here and overall doing what you do best!

So what might we be able to expect in the future? Any interesting SA2B or Pokemon Stadium videos you been thinking about? I'm just so happy to see you again!

  • Is this the only reachable 0,0,0 ring in the game (Besides Metal Harbor)?

  • Green Hill also has one, and Mad Space has a ring there that can only be reached after dying. Both of those rings were present in the DC version, and so was an additional origin ring in Radical Highway.

  • @SadisticMystic Is the Green Hill one the one at the start of the level, only accessible with the magnet shield?

  • That it is. Radical Highway is almost reachable too, but the rails on the starting bridge are covered in NOINPCOL so you can't jump to go up it.

  • @SadisticMystic One more question, why are they only accessible in hard mode?

  • Because there are six different files that define the objects that get placed in Final Chase: two of them are loaded in the first four missions, another two are loaded in hard mode, and the last two are loaded in 2-player mode. The huge chunk of zeroes occurs only in one of the hard mode files, so there you go.

If a similar chunk ever was in the other files, they removed it during QA testing, but I can't imagine Final Chase 5 was pleasant enough to play, let alone test for long.

  • @SadisticMystic Wow, it's amazing how much you know about this game.

    I'm glad I subscribed to you. :)

  • Wow! Absolutely amazing find, and I loved reading the background notes and technical details.

Great to see another video from you after all this time. I imagine it wasn't easy to get back into this game with a FC5 ring attack, though!

  • After being gone this long, only something as arduous and monumental as this would suffice for a return.

Besides, the last video I ever made on Dreamcast was on Dark stage 13, so picking up where I left off with dark 14 only makes sense.

  • That must've been the ring from the Saturday Morning cartoons.

  • Read that entire video description you finally put together just now, and as though it were a fascinating book, I couldn't stop reading. Most multi-paragraph descriptions I merely skim over, but this was just too much. You are truly a freakin' genius.

  • My first draft of that description ran to over 8K, so I really had to trim out all the details I could to make it fit. Imagine if the site allowed you to read the longer version.

  • @SadisticMystic Do you still have it? I'd really like to read it.

  • How do you know where are all the rings are at?

  • Incredible ring count and congratz on this. By the way, any particular reason you let yourself get hit by the gun robot at 8:36?

  • @Blitzscreig The magnetic shield would have screwed the light dash required just after.

  • @Blitzscreig Probably to avoid any problems on the light dash he does afterwards, since the magnetic shield can screw it up sometimes.

  • Awesome x]

  • I love you SM. Where would Sonic be without you... probably not effing around with insane glitches, that's for sure.

  • I was so happy to see a MysticSadistic video on my subscrbtion list again!

  • MysticSadistic is back? Nice.

  • Yay! You're back!

  • It's a way of playing where the objective is to avoid using the A button, or at least use it as little as possible as you make your way through the stage. For example, in this run I only pressed A 232 times! That's good, right?

(Actually it's not--in fact, it's a terrible score for that metric. The A button challenge title was a joke meant to add to the surprise value from watching the video, but I'm leaving it up for a day or so before I change it to the "real" title.)

  • Wow I never expected you to ever upload a video again.

  • Throughout the entire part where you were going up the rail, I was very confused. Then I saw the ring and wat'd my fucking brains out.

  • @shalpp Why did they store 200 rings behind the starting point is the question... Many players might see "400/600" and wonder what they missed? THAT weird ring.

  • about time you came back, lol

  • well done again <3

  • Ho. Ly.

    Crap.

    I've missed you dude. :DD

  • It's like the Metal Harbor and Pumpkin Hill rings, this is simply amazing! I can't believe you'll start "playing" SA2B! A new era of glitchness and awesomeness just begun =D

  • It's like Metal Harbor, but not Pumpkin Hill.

  • @SadisticMystic Not exactly but still. The 3 of them have more than one ring at the same place, that's what I meant. Of course Metal Harbor and Final Chase have more things in common, like the facts that these rings only exist in their last missions and are placed at the beginning of the stages, and both are racing stages.

  • Wait what the hell. I thought I knew most of the glitches and tricks in this game, CLEARLY NOT

What in the world was that "ring" lol

  • What made you get the Gamecube version?

  • Awesome A button challenge. It looks that you haven't found the "A" bottun. =D *jk*

Very impressive run. I doesn't know about that ring at start rail.

  • Oh! You have the GC version now; can't wait to see what you'll do with it. Glad to see you're back!

  • Uh... I don't get how that works. How did that Ring give you 130 Rings?

Whatever the case, you're amazing at the game. Nice job.

  • It is incredible enough that you improved the checkpoint manipulation for this level.

    But that "ring"....wow.

  • @RingRush That ''ring'' suddenly gave him 130 rings,WHAT KIND OF SORCERY WAS THAT?

  • Clearly the sorcery was Rite of Replication, kicked and copied an additional 25 times.
