  • My favourite of Tim's versions of this great "Sacred Harp" dong on

    Youtube.

  • Wonderful Tim... A Celtic thank you from Canada!

  • 274 on the top. Sacred Harp

  • Can anoyne tell me what the lyrics for the first verse is? fa a sola, sola la etc. Is it just like "la la la "etc. or does it mean something? I know the rest of the lyrics btw.

  • @QRS666 Its notes as in do rei me so la fa ti do :-)

  • @silasbanjo Ahh haha! Dohh! Do I feel stupid now :) Always the easiest obvious sollution that is the correct one. Instead I was thinking of "tra la la" or even a religious meaning etc. haha. Thanks for clearning that up :)

  • I keep coming back, listening to this song...Sir, your voice is amazing and so is your banjo playing and all the wonderful spots you pick to play and sing!

  • I find the settings for Tim eriksen's live performances especially striking e.g. platying outside in freezing temperatures. For me that says a great deal about the quality of the music.

  • Certain verses of the song are the same as "I'm Going Home" that are often sung by Sacred Harp singers! Cool stuff man.

  • You are a damn good amasador of the US. IF there were more people like you out there playin for the world the US might not look like a bunch of Assholes. Very fine playin. Is that what Clarence Ashley would call "Sawmill" tune?

  • @blueridger28 Thanks- I've heard people call it sawmill but I don't really know what that means.

  • @batfancy Clarence Tom Ashley called g sus 4 or gDGCD sawmill tuning . . This is wonderful Tim .. Stop by if you are ever in Bantam , Yours Guy

  • beautiful melody! reminds me of my appalachian roots!

  • Id love to have the tabs for this song... I cant tell you how many times this song has blessed me on my walks...singing it in my head and to the birds.

    thank you mightily !

  • That sweet smile on the girl says it Best. Fantastic stuff Thanks.

  • I like the playing...the singing and the words are great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you for the posting

  • Podoba mi się ten gościu ! Słucham go często z Tuba, ale szkoda,że nic o nim nie wiedziałem kiedy był w Polsce. Musi być ostro wyluzowany kiedy zdecydował się na jazdę polskimi kolejami.

  • "Tim ...thank you sir..I fell in love with your music ever since Cold Mountain.

    Much love ..God Bless...

  • Cool

  • I love the other people in this video (daughter and parents?) -- the context adds so much to already majestic music.

  • Tim This was a great video because of the people and the train! The song is perfect for this kind of time passing away isnt it.. Perhaps one day you could do a video with that clawhammer playing on a old train or old flat box car.. Keep the traditional songs alive.. You are carrying a big torch that must not go out.. Remember that.

  • this is my favorite song to sing in church its pretty cool to hear it with a banjo too!

  • awesome! what tuning are you in?

  • same as for sugar baby. E something something I think...

  • cool. i've covered this tune a few times (sometimes w/ different lyrics) at a couple open mics and people love it. thanks for turnin me on to it.

  • This is cool.

  • That's amazing...fasola on the banjo. I'm a banjo player and fasola singer, how do you do it?

  • Well, if you can sing it I'm sure you can play it. You just need a good keynote.

  • Tim - thanks for a great time in Jaroslaw.

  • Thank you too- I loved my time there and all the great folks I met.

  • Amazing, what a coincidence! I am just in Jaroslaw, two days after Tim's great concert and interesting seminar. Just for curiosity, I made a YouTube search for Tim Eriksen, and just found this video. I made some videos myself here and will upload from home.

  • Wonderful video, a true slice out of time and the freezing of a moment. Tim, did you set up all the video yourself or did you have a helper?

  • I do most of it myself, but take advantage of whoever is around (see "more info" for more info). It's always interesting to see what other random people think is interesting and how they use the camera.

  • my country:)!!! How feelings about our trains???:D are very fast and confortable:)

  • The trains are great! Likewise the people and the food.

  • Joyous!!!

  • I say essentially the same thing each time why because: Tim you never disappoint! A great video and made even better by the story and the train, I took a long train trip a while back and every smoke break I was outside with my little ukulele havin' an impromptu concert or jam. Trains are truly magical and having music and meeting cool people is always great. Keep up the awesome videos as always.

  • superb lad superb!!!!! love their faces blasted by the strange american dude who is like no american dude they have ever seen on the telly !

  • I love the continuing travelogue--starting with the NYC videos. There's a real Beat sensibility here, though the music predates. Something like Kerouac thrown up in the air with you and the banjo and all landing on this train in Poland. I can almost feel the air.

  • love it!

  • Brilliant Tim! Great song and a well cut video too I might add.

I've been listening to your albums to get me through work this past week so thanks :)

  • Cool....

  • Wonderful! Really liked it. Your audience really was enjoying it too :-)

  • Thanks for taking us along, Tim. Great song which your shy (about being photographed anyway) compartment mates were enjoying. Just how many languages do you handle anyway?

  • This is awesome! Combining some of my favorite things: Train rides, Tim Erikson, Banjo (see previous), Gospel music, all rolled up tino one!!!
