Can anoyne tell me what the lyrics for the first verse is? fa a sola, sola la etc. Is it just like "la la la "etc. or does it mean something? I know the rest of the lyrics btw.
@silasbanjo Ahh haha! Dohh! Do I feel stupid now :) Always the easiest obvious sollution that is the correct one. Instead I was thinking of "tra la la" or even a religious meaning etc. haha. Thanks for clearning that up :)
I keep coming back, listening to this song...Sir, your voice is amazing and so is your banjo playing and all the wonderful spots you pick to play and sing!
I find the settings for Tim eriksen's live performances especially striking e.g. platying outside in freezing temperatures. For me that says a great deal about the quality of the music.
You are a damn good amasador of the US. IF there were more people like you out there playin for the world the US might not look like a bunch of Assholes. Very fine playin. Is that what Clarence Ashley would call "Sawmill" tune?
Id love to have the tabs for this song... I cant tell you how many times this song has blessed me on my walks...singing it in my head and to the birds.
Podoba mi się ten gościu ! Słucham go często z Tuba, ale szkoda,że nic o nim nie wiedziałem kiedy był w Polsce. Musi być ostro wyluzowany kiedy zdecydował się na jazdę polskimi kolejami.
Tim This was a great video because of the people and the train! The song is perfect for this kind of time passing away isnt it.. Perhaps one day you could do a video with that clawhammer playing on a old train or old flat box car.. Keep the traditional songs alive.. You are carrying a big torch that must not go out.. Remember that.
Amazing, what a coincidence! I am just in Jaroslaw, two days after Tim's great concert and interesting seminar. Just for curiosity, I made a YouTube search for Tim Eriksen, and just found this video. I made some videos myself here and will upload from home.
I do most of it myself, but take advantage of whoever is around (see "more info" for more info). It's always interesting to see what other random people think is interesting and how they use the camera.
I say essentially the same thing each time why because: Tim you never disappoint! A great video and made even better by the story and the train, I took a long train trip a while back and every smoke break I was outside with my little ukulele havin' an impromptu concert or jam. Trains are truly magical and having music and meeting cool people is always great. Keep up the awesome videos as always.
I love the continuing travelogue--starting with the NYC videos. There's a real Beat sensibility here, though the music predates. Something like Kerouac thrown up in the air with you and the banjo and all landing on this train in Poland. I can almost feel the air.
Thanks for taking us along, Tim. Great song which your shy (about being photographed anyway) compartment mates were enjoying. Just how many languages do you handle anyway?
My favourite of Tim's versions of this great "Sacred Harp" dong on
Youtube.

Certain verses of the song are the same as "I'm Going Home" that are often sung by Sacred Harp singers! Cool stuff man.

I love the other people in this video (daughter and parents?) -- the context adds so much to already majestic music.

That's amazing...fasola on the banjo. I'm a banjo player and fasola singer, how do you do it?
misslizajane 3 years ago
Well, if you can sing it I'm sure you can play it. You just need a good keynote.
