I don't complain to any bands who change their sounds a lot, or the ones that remain the same until now. As long as their musics are nice to listen to.
I can listen to Nickelback, enjoy the music, sing along, and have a good time. The lyrics have meaning, the songs are catchy, and it isn't complete crap. Sure, they sound similar, but you try and write four albums with 10+ songs and not have 5 or more with similar chord progressions. Plus, I'm sure we all agree Nickelback is much better than Bieber, Gaga and all that other non-talented pop crap rising to stardom these days.

I hate nickelback with a passion but I have noticed that every band has a distinct sound that is similar in all their songs. I have noticed once a band gets a big hit they will model a lot of their songs after that hit because hey, if that sound was a hit maybe another song kind of like it will be a hit too. Trust me, I try to write music from time to time and once you get a tune that sounds good, you tend to go back to it even without wanting to. That being said. nickelback still sucks.

what about the changes and when how they come in at the same time? the drums enter the same time. the electric guitars come in at the same time in the exact same way. the chords are also extremely similar.

Listen to some Blue Oyster Cult, some Led Zeppelin, some Beatles, Kinks, Doors, The Who, Stones, and even pop artists like Paul Simon and Elton John. They all have some things in common, but those similarities are very basic and not as clearly derivative. My problem with Nickelback is that they got famous by doing one mediocre (or less) thing musically, and repeated that ad infinitum. None of the artists above did that.
Horrible choice of songs. If you want to compare Nickelback’s old school to modern, you have to take songs from at least one of their oldest albums. Ergo Hesher or Curb. Then you can choose from their newest. Preferably on the Dark Hoarse album where they DID change allot of things. Nickelback 4ever!

Try this with the California boys on a song with the same time signature. It will overlap different scales or notes or whatever. Wow. Once again some moron discovered a 4/4 time signature. Put a U2 song, or a Rancid song, or any other fucking song with this tempo over another song with this tempo and guess what? They'll overlap like this. Quit listening to music if it confuses you and please don't breed. Not all nickleback songs sound the same, try putting hero and how you remind me together or saving me and gotta be somebody and see if u get sense. i find it genius how uve managed to come up with two songs as a comparison to hold a grudge. Listen to some Blue Oyster Cult, some Led Zeppelin, some Beatles, Kinks, Doors, The Who, Stones, and even pop artists like Paul Simon and Elton John. They all have some things in common, but those similarities are very basic and not as clearly derivative. My problem with Nickelback is that they got famous by doing one mediocre (or less) thing musically, and repeated that ad infinitum. None of the artists above did that.

Horrible choice of songs. If you want to compare Nickelback’s old school to modern, you have to take songs from at least one of their oldest albums. Ergo Hesher or Curb. Then you can choose from their newest. Preferably on the Dark Hoarse album where they DID change allot of things. Nickelback 4ever!
