I loved this game... I was really young and it took me a while to figure out how to change gears, so I would always go really slow and run out of fuel!
Music is limited to whatever standard wavetable tunes were available. Nobody coded sampled music using SB 16 etc which is what they should have done.
Runs noticeably smoother than the A500 version but no better than the CD32 version with even worse sound. Someone rip the chiptunes from the disk versions of Lotus 1,2,3 and stick them on the CD32 ISO pleeeeeez! (and do Super Stardust too while you're at it ;o) )
i think the best track is 3 and 4 althought track 1 and 6 also rock lol. i dont remember a turbo zone, and i think there was on coming traffic as well or maybethat was a different level. Or just because i only had the demo version *doh* lol
omgggg haha i only had the demo to this game when i was younger. great music!. i used to sit and watch the other levels on the demo. lol good damn times. *tear*
7,14Mhz AND what's most important ... a custom chipset. Just don't like how amiga enthusiasts always seem to forget about that (being an Atari ST fellower myself). Never the less Amiga (especially AGA) rules :)
i remember having an amiga and lotus 3 but everytime my sister played a game and the disk wouldn't load she would smack the thing. and then she sprayed glitter paint stuff over the lotus 3 disk's and now the game barely works and surprisingly enough the disk drive in the amiga stopped working... if anyone has a working rom of the amiga version i would really like it.
accually i belive you could choose in lotus 3 between racing the clock and other cars. notice how at 1:08 on the game tab it has a stopwatch highlighted and at 2:20 there are two stop watches in the two top corners.
Im quite suprised but the pc convertion music isnt upto standard of the actal amiga music, find the proper amiga music and compare ( well they dont lol ) amiga all the way!!!
Yeah this game is very cool :D I was born on 1991 and lotus 2 created on 1991 :D I played first on 1996 and play today too :D "I'm lovin it" XD ( I like lotus 3 too)
First you only heard some ambient music.And then,when the credits finished, you could hear an approaching engine sound ending with a clash sound when the car reached the screen. Then a big slam sound appeared introducing the "Lotus" word and then,with subsequent heavy slam sounds I,II and III Roman numbers appeared. Then the menu music started.I remember what an effect it created.Amazing.Pity you have a crappy intro:P

What a brilliant game of its time. :D
I remember spending hours and hours playing this, either alone or with friends in split screen.
I somehow vaguely recall that there were also fueling stations placed at the right side of the road, usually shortly after the finish line. :-S
BilaCro 2 years ago 10
@BilaCro Ok, I'm 2 years late, but the fueling stations at the right side of the road wasn't Lotus, but it was Jaguar XJ220. ;)
LordFvckingHorst 1 month ago
@LordFvckingHorst
I don't know the Jaguar-game, but BilaCro was right. Also in Lotus there's a kind of 'fueling station'.
There were two game modes: one against time and unlimited fuel, and no time but mimited fuel

@i386dx Oh, didn't knew that.

What happened to the music??! Ooops, this is the PC version... LOL. The PC 'soooo' superior to the Amiga? Well, not at that time! :-)

Time for another Amiga cyclejerk? Check the same game when using a Roland LAPC ... totally different!

Calm down... it's ok. It's just that the Amiga only had a 7,14 MHz CPU and what it could do with it was just great.

I like the music on the Sega Genesis version better (Same song, but better).

You think that's good, listen to the Amiga version... Amiga had superior sound to PC cards; except for Roland LAPC-1, and/or GUS Ultrasound cards.

i love the music to this game!!! it brings memories in deed:)

@ CO002.
The 5th in the corner is the gear. In Lotus III you raced against the time, there was no racing for position like in Lotus 1.

Definitely right. If you highlight the trophy cup instead of the stop watch in the menu, you'd be racing for positions.

PC conversion spoilt it all.
I'll tell you what it looked like on Amiga.
The 5th in the left corner is the gear of the car. You can see this at the beginning of the race..
