What I do know from personal experience is if your system douse not include significant amounts of full contact continues and fully resistant combat simulation your not learning to win fights your learning choreography.

However, muscle memory must come without thought, and instead be instinctive to the user - see shadow boxing or kata's or drills... Perhaps you need to go and try it yourself...but before ask the sifu if full contact and resistant combat simulation is included in the training.

Bartitsu has a large number of art forms in it and as it was doveloped during the time of England taking over much of Asia and Boxing not being good enough to deal with other Asian forms. Bartitsu is what Holmes studied. What is in this video is Wing Chun. As many others have stated, We/I know because we study it/teach it.

sorry guys, doesnt look like wing chun to me...he was never square to his oppnent, and the punches used too much shoulder action and circular motions...but nice fight scene though.
Bartitsu, elf defence for gentlemen. its an early mix of eastern and western martial arts, conected by an english during the 19 th century. This martial art includes parts of jiu jitsu savate and batt de canne ( i dont know how to write it) an other eastern arts. But in the movie the system is very " realistc". Bartitsu an wing chun got a lot in common =D
@Trollvolk sorry unfortunately i don't buy ur logic. i've checked out other facts on "Bartitsu" before taking the liberty to reply to this. in most cases it requires a cane to attack. i was really curious in how u said it had a lot in common. but no there isn't. Wing Chun's punch, the straight first vertical is unique on its own and no other disciple of MA has this. The blocks he also performed are from wing chun. I'm not denoucing Bartitsu that Sherlock
