At 2:53 you can see the tornado's rotation. It's not a well defined tornado, but you were heading right at it. Those fast moving clouds at 2:53 in the video are part of the tornado's circulation. If you're ever in doubt where the tornado is, stop and look around before you make your next move, had the tornado made a slight jog to the left, it would have got you. I chase these storms, and I had the same situation, seeing leaves falling from the sky, so I located the tornado, then I made my move.

I remember this day. We had quite the outbreak of tornadoes in VA. One came through here and rearranged a nearby shopping center that was previously hit in 93. The 93 tornado outbreak was insane! Way more vivid in my mind than what happened in 08.
