  • I absolutely love this.

  • so beautiful !!!!

  • Wiki says that Glen Campbell sang lead vocals on this tune.

  • Brad Pitt in Seven Years In Tibet. He is a Sag man.

  • I think Brue Johnston sang with the Beach Boys....right?

  • @maryscripter Bruece Johnston didn't sing with Sagittarius.

He was a member of The Beach Boys.

  • @changichan1 Bruce Johnston is very much a part of this record, as are Glen Campbell and Gary Usher. The first "my world fell down" at 0:40 is Bruce.

  • Boy you guys really know your stuff. I just heard this today for the first time. Our local deejay played it. The things you miss.

  • WHAT A GREAT SONG!!!!!!!,THE HARMONIES ARE NAILED DOWN TO A TEE.ITS A COMBINATION BETWEEN MAMAS & PAPAS,SPANKY & OUR GANG AND PET SOUNDS.2:20 IS MY FAVORITE PART OF SONG,GREAT POSTING!!

  • awesome...

  • actually it was good the whole way through

  • This was good until they went all "Sgt. Pepper" at 2:00.

  • Written by John Carter And Ken Lewis of Ivy League and Flowerpot Men Fame . Actually two very talented Birmingham lads Johns real surname is Shakespeare . Enough said superamos31

  • So where is Glen Campbell, he did sing it.

  • @IVIIIVV

    Glen Campbell sang lead.

  • @himself801 Thanks for the info but I knew this already. I have the original album and bought it new (dating myself). As well as most of the Millennium stuff with Curt and some the stuff he produced and wrote. That sunshine psych (most psych) I think is is pretty cool. It is hard to tell that it is Campbell. Just like Jon Voight's brother Chip Taylor, wrote "Wild Thing"; some of that strange '60's trivia which goes on.

  • In the spring of 1967, many FM stations played this one extensively.

  • ...one, and a two to the three, give the trigger to me, lol... :D

  • Gracias por esta canciòn... Me trajo recuerdos muy muy emocionantes... Mi Novia de los 60's, (Ah)... Gracias, gracias en verdad...

  • this song is scary

  • @hamzamans That is because you are scary to yourself.

  • One of the forgotten best one hit wonders of the 1960s. Blows me away to think Glen Cambell sang on this!!

  • de onverkorte versie is het mooist maar op de radio heeft men daar geen tijd voor!!!

Ik bedoel het stukje 1:50 minuut

    Grote klasse

  • Glen cambell=awsome

  • WOW! AWESOME!NEVER EVER HEARD THIS! SO 67!

  • SUNSHINE POP in its best

  • best sunshine pop ever made !

  • I love this version (Glen Campbell's voice and the whole arrangement), but I also like the Ivy League's version of this; can anyone upload it here?

  • Trivia: Glen Campbell is one of the singers on this song.

  • I have always wondered what was the reason for that strange sound interlude that began at 1:50-

  • The beggining of the song is also in Prodigy - Shoot down. funny

  • Great harmonies, yanks me right back to 1967. Thanks!

  • This tune should have charted higher on the Billboard Hot 100 - it only made it to number 70 in mid-1967-

  • This was one of the first songs that I heard on the newly emerging FM Album rock back in 1967.

  • I remember this. Summer of 67. Always wished they edited out that baby crying. SAGITTARIUS was a studio only group.

  • I KNOW THIS from the NUGGETS compilation...it sounds a little out of place on there, but i love it.

  • If you liked this 'thinking man's' music [orchestrated, innovative, lush harmonies, not following norm/standard], you might like the Wondermints!

  • Something about this song is so special - if my mate from Essexland follows my link , hope you enjoy it!

  • This is the only single I know of that was specifically about winter, but came out in the middle of summer. If the record company had held on to it for a few months and released it in November instead, it probably would've gotten higher on the charts. That unexpected chord change at 3:13 still gives me goosebumps.

  • u must have an ear for music, I didn't notice

  • Pet sounds meets sargent pepper!

  • I always thought it sounded like a Sgt. Pepper song with The Mamas & The Papas doing the vocals.

The lead vocal is handled by Glen Campbell (yes, that Glen Campbell) with Bruce Johnson as one of the backing vocalist, both worked Beach Boy recording sessions. Glen then Bruce replaced Brian Wilson in the touring band.

Project Initiator, project head and producer Gray Usher actually was friendly with Brian Wilson and co-wrote some of the early Beach Boy hits.

  • I'm to acts of futility and will waste some time on this, once.

Regarding Terry Melcher, the information was verified using his profile at Wikipedia. I try to make sure I know what Im about, instead of making adolescent wisecracks.

If I didnt follow music, I wouldnt even remember he was Doris Days son.

If you were authentic, you only comment on the topic, not the commenters. You best enteries say Comment removed by author.

    Ciao

  • @NolifeRob Pet Sounds meets the Mamas and the Papas.

  • didja come up with this? it is what "the fifth beach boy" pete fornatale always said about this song. it's the quintessential it shoudda been a top ten hit song.

  • The similarity is chilling!

  • @mavsfan1000 I hear the M&P's song "12:30" in this one too.

  • @mavsfan1000 But this is actually from him?I know sagitarius was the idea of a producer who worked with famous bands to tape his own compositions and some covers with another guy, this one i heard before,do you know if it is from sagitarius

ANYWAY,another time,ANOTHER TIME,the song,i know "something" about the 60´s music and it is on the top as one of the most beautiful of the decade for me.

    Bye

  • The original is a Carter/Lewis song ..it was a small hit in the UK by the Ivy League..i like their version but this has stronger vocals

    Jim

  • I remember when I heard this song for the first time in 1982 in "Steenen Tijdperk", an oldies show on the Dutch radiostation Hilversum III. What a wonderful 60s song! Thanks for posting! Greetz from Holland.

  • Hauntingly beautiful...it's a real shame this song stalled on the charts when originally released.

  • the way you described this song was great. thanks!

  • I wonder what this song would sound like if i were to put it through a Thompson Vocal Eliminator Model #4.If only i could afford one! Then i'd finally be able to eliminate the only thing that i feel doesn't belong in it.

  • To me, when the organ comes in right after the middle part ,it chills me to my very core. That's because it sounds like a part of a funeral dirge.

  • I thought this song was done originally by "The Buffons"? Is this a cover?? I heard the song and did a few searches to find it.

    Great song!

  • awesome! curt boettcher, someone needs to write a book about him,or tell me if they did

  • a new one to me like it very much

  • Thanks, Equinox !

  • Great track , wouldn't have sounded out of place on "Pet Sounds", although that

mid tune cacophony (1:51-2:12) almost ruins it.

  • Yeh,it seems like G.Usher nabbed a few of Brian and Van Dykes Smile ideas there (even the 1.51-2.12 bit is like 'Swedish Frog')

  • @barahona44 That "cacophony" is the best part of the song...psychedelic!!

  • I love this song and I've listened to this artist before. It's funny because I clicked on a link to this video from a video a of a guy falling down the stairs. Ha Ha, he was so clumsy.

  • You wouldn't believe how long I've been trying to identify this track I used to play on an old "Pick of the Pops reel to reel tape made in the 60's !!

  • My world fell down(sagittarious) is one of my favorite songs that you only hear from once in awhile

  • Undoubtedly Gary Usher learned much of Brian Wilson:)

  • meh, shootdown has more life in it

most of you probably don't know what I'm talking about

  • but liam gallagher is a twat.

  • the lead vocal is by an uncredited Glen Campbell!

  • So glad they released both their albums on cd, this easily features in my top 10 all time songs. Something very special about this!!!!

  • WCFL and WLS were the lifeblood of Chicago pop radio in the 60's. Great time for radio back then. Very glad to find this posted, thanks!!

  • LOVE this one! That "pet sounds"era beach boys influence is so GOOD!

  • Wa - hoo! This song resurfaced in my head a couple of days ago, and I felt an irresistible urge to hear it. So glad it's here, and it's every bit as wonderful as the memory. Interesting to read the history too, something I wasn't aware of as a Sagittarius child in the sixties.

  • Popped into my head tonight.......

  • There's a track on this album called "Another Time" which is a great tune. Could you try and get that one up on YT? Thanks!

  • I bought this incredible record in the summer of love and have loved it ever since. It made # 62 or so on the Billboard chart. Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys was a member.

  • So no wonder that "My World Fell Down"sounds so Beach Boysish!

  • I heard this song on xm radio and hadn't heard it in years. Looked it up on utube and glad to see it here! Now it's on my favorites. I also listened to WLS radio station my teen years. Great song! I also enjoy reading the comments from other listeners in order to get more info on the song and artists. Thanks utube!

  • How about another Sagittarius song, "Another Time?" Can someone please post that?

  • i love this song...and I'm so sad because it tells my story..

  • Mine too... my life pulled itself out of the pits though but it still reminds me that when I was feeling at my lowest it all sorted in the end.

    xXx

  • The best song Brain Wilson never wrote

  • very nicely put

  • This is Fucking Amazing. I can't believe I've never heard this before.

  • @badboyrhythmdub did he write that ? no wonder, sound sunshine classic pop , beach boys style

  • I have all of the Sagittarius, Millenium, Blue Marble, The Ballroom, Celestium stuff by either Usher or Boettcher or both....tray fab!!!

  • Big "hit" in Nova Scotia, Canada, during "the Summer o' Love, 67." Came Back to Boston and no one even heard of it. A fav'of mine.

  • Prodigy did a nice job sampling the piano line

  • yeah!

  • it's a shame CD stores are filled with nothing but crap and I can't find rare albums like this

  • I agree with you 100%, man. That's one the main reasons why I purchase most of my music through the mail and the internet.

  • a song of pure brilliance. although i'm a big fan of the sixties music for a long time i got to know curt boettcher just a few weeks ago. what a fantastic treasure of gems he created. it's simply amazing!

  • i have been playing the NUGGETS compilation a lot and i didn't realize till recently what a great song this is.

  • Better than anything at the time. Kills the original British version too if anyone has heard that. This is gary usher's production, and i dont' think boettcher had that much to do with this song, whereas the rest of the album is mostly him. Man now i gotta go listen to it again. thanks!

  • This jewel is one of the best song of the sixties. Especially this single version.

  • Glen Campbell on lead vocal

  • This song brings back memories. I was stationed in Tucson Arizona in the Air Force, and this song got a lot of play on radio station KTKT.

  • I appreciate the 45 rpm version, was better on the single than on the album!! Same thing goes with their 45 rpm for "Hotel Indsicreet"

  • this is the single version

  • My #1 song of all time...and I have over 5,000 LPs and CDs.

  • at least of the 60s

  • I know about pop music en this is underground of the sixties, good sound

  • Loved this song in Cleveland as a teen, chorus sounds a bit like Mamas & Papas but I like it anyway!

  • lets not forget Glenn Campbells great vocals!!

  • anyone know what album i can find this song on?

  • Dont know about the original but you will find it on the Nuggets 4 cd box set with many other 60s obscure classics.

  • Present Tense

  • i <3 this songggggg it makes me happy

  • Incredibly, this single only reached #70 nationally over a five-0week run in late summer 1967. At various times, the group included Beach Boy Bruce Johnston, Terry Melcher plusall three members of The Hondells!

  • This song got quite a bit of airplay on WLS in Chicago in 1967. It peaked at #19 on 7/21/67 on the WLS Silver Dollar Survey. Too bad it didn't get more airplay nationally.

  • It certainly is. Like you, I was one of those steady WLS listners back in the day when the Big 89 defined rock 'n' roll music for all of us within the range of its signal.

  • I was another WLS addict--I remember listening to this song on my early morning paper route, DJ Clark Weber really pushed this song, a great forgotten pop song.

  • Doris Day's son? Not any of Charlies friends, I hope?

  • Yep. Doris' son.

  • Doris Day's son, Terry Melcher was actually Charlie Manson's target, not Sharon Tate & her friends. They just were killed to mess with his head for not getting him a recording contract with Columbia.

Check Wkipedia's profile on Terry Melcher for fuller details.

  • @himself801 As a result of Charlie going after Terry, a great band that NO ONE got to hear had their debut album shelved. That band was Public Nuisance and that debut album would have been a KILLER (no pun intended).

  • Great song! I have never found this album, but I do have their second LP "The Blue Marble". Curt Boettcher was definitely a brilliant musician, I also like his other groups the Ballroom and the Millenium. He also produced one of my other faves, "Mrs. Bluebird" by Eternity's Children.

  • This is a masterpiece, Curt Boettcher is amazing

  • Wasn't this a Gary Usher production?

  • they called it psychedelic baroque in the 60's it is a great song

  • oh ! yes, it was really a great song : 40 years later , my son of 21 is fond of it ! It remains one of the great songs of my life , of the ones that lightened my youth in the square country of France .

  • Present tense is "Pet sounds meets Sargent Pepper".

  • Yesss!!! One of the best songs of the 60s.
