Thanks so much for this video! You helped me clear my jam with the tutorial on checking in the carriage path. The paper was in the service station like you pointed out. thank you!!!!! I was ready to throw this thing out the window, but your video helped me fix it! YOU are so much more helpful than contacting HP support, they are awful.
Good stuff... I've had my HP Photosmart 8250 for years and never had a paper jam until now. Your clear detailed instructions got me back in business quickly. Thanks!!!
I spent hours last night trying to find answers to fix my carriage stall. my help book with printer, online support and finally called hp and talked with tech support for 1 hour! he could offer no help or solution except to buy a new one! I just came across your video and tried your solutions, and it worked!!! printer is ok again...thank you for your help!
omg ! its been jammed for 3 days and i was trying to pull the paper out from the front and it ripped and i didnt know what to do. finally i googled and found this video, and saw i can take the back off. i did and pulled out the jammed paper and its fixed!!! im so grateful, thanks for this :)
Even thought my HP was a different model this info helped me to clear the paper jam. There had been a fragment torn inside which I just could not find until I followed the instructions of this video. Thank you.
Could a paper jam also cause ink to leak unto the carriage? Printer prints in blue, but there is a purlpe color ink that seems to be leaking on right hand side of carriage.
OK so I have this printer. I took it apart a while back to try and to the cmos battery trick just to get the printing to let me scan. I got the carriage cover off I noticed a large piece of paper down on the right side where the carriage goes to what I would call the home position. I removed the paper. Once back together the carriage makes a noise like gears slipping when it goes to the home position. I think the paper kept it from going all the way over and now it goes to far. Anyone heard of?
Great video....I was able to find the jam on the right side of the printer after powering it off and moving the carriage to the left manually..I almost junked the unit and went to Costco for a new one.....
Thanks a lot. Our printer has been inoperable for more than a week. We took it to where we bought it, "Staples" and they said better to buy a new one. As it turns out, it was the hidden paper on the right that was jamming it.
HP products suck There printers are garbage. I get these messages all the time and tried everything. It also is only 9 months old and i have all the newest drivers. There tech support sucks and you can't even talk to a REAL PERSON. i WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER OF THERE PRODUCTS AGAIN.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I just could not find the paper jam and after watching this I was able to find it on the extreme right, blocked from site by the ink carriage. Printer is as good as new now.
hey.. HELP!! I did EVERYTHING u siad we should do, and it still says the same message carriage jam! And I've checked inside and there is NO JAM at all! What should I do????
@x0xvanex0x Did you turn the print off and then on again so it could reset itself? That's was the final step in fixing mine after following everything else.
This video did the trick for me as I had a "carriage jam" message & I'd tried everything from cleaning the strip that runs behind the carriage, to several hard resets, to searching for paper from the back, etc, etc.
Turns out it was simply paper that had gotten mashed up on the right side of the carriage, just like you showed in the video.
So, after about an hour of reading posts & getting blue fingers..I found this video & within 2 minutes, it was fixed!!

@jmf896 A paper jam would not cause ink to leak into the printer. If your printer is leaking ink your printer likely needs to be serviced.
