I was ready to throw this thing out the window, but your video helped me fix it! YOU are so much more helpful than contacting HP support, they are awful.

i had a 13 year old 712c deskjet and it failed yesterday with a remanufactured ink

    way to treat consumers HP

  • Please tell me what the ethernet port is for

  • Great video, I never knew about the rear door either, for paper jams. You really helped me out, thanks so much!! You rock HP!!

  • I had no idea about the rear door, no wonder i couldnt pull out the paper lol

  • Even thought my HP was a different model this info helped me to clear the paper jam. There had been a fragment torn inside which I just could not find until I followed the instructions of this video. Thank you.

  • Could a paper jam also cause ink to leak unto the carriage? Printer prints in blue, but there is a purlpe color ink that seems to be leaking on right hand side of carriage.

    Any help appreciated.

  • @jmf896 A paper jam would not cause ink to leak into the printer. If your printer is leaking ink your printer likely needs to be serviced.

  • OK so I have this printer. I took it apart a while back to try and to the cmos battery trick just to get the printing to let me scan. I got the carriage cover off I noticed a large piece of paper down on the right side where the carriage goes to what I would call the home position. I removed the paper. Once back together the carriage makes a noise like gears slipping when it goes to the home position. I think the paper kept it from going all the way over and now it goes to far. Anyone heard of?

  • Great video....I was able to find the jam on the right side of the printer after powering it off and moving the carriage to the left manually..I almost junked the unit and went to Costco for a new one.....

  • Thanks a lot. Our printer has been inoperable for more than a week. We took it to where we bought it, "Staples" and they said better to buy a new one. As it turns out, it was the hidden paper on the right that was jamming it.

  • Thanks for the video, it was very helpful! Paper was hidden in the print head docking position on the far right.

  • Oh what a relief! I found 2 pieces of paper. Now my printer is purrrring like a kitten. Thanks.

  • fantastic video, thanks alot!!

  • HP products suck There printers are garbage. I get these messages all the time and tried everything. It also is only 9 months old and i have all the newest drivers. There tech support sucks and you can't even talk to a REAL PERSON. i WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER OF THERE PRODUCTS AGAIN.

  • yay found out how to load paper :P

  • Thanks to your video I found the jam on the inside bottom right. Bless you!

  • i love this video!!!

  • Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I just could not find the paper jam and after watching this I was able to find it on the extreme right, blocked from site by the ink carriage. Printer is as good as new now.

  • That worked!! couldn't see the paper jammed on the side...Good work!

  • Did NOT work. Can't find the jammed paper anywhere. Arrrrgggghhh

  • This absolutely made my day.

  • 5 star plus--great pic of the carriage jam--never would have look there.

  • mine is stuck deep i tried and keeps riping

  • Thanks. Perfect display of my issue - paper in the docking area. Never would have found it!

  • That turntable is smart !

    Should be standard equipment.

  • Thank you sooooo much!!! I was ready to throw the printer into the trash and go out and buy a new one. It now works just great, thanks to you.

  • awesome! This totally worked! arghhhh! I was so frustrated for so long lol

  • Worked for me, thanks!

  • Worked for me, gratefully.

  • Oki, but how do I remove the rollers?

  • D'oh! On the back side of the rear door. Found it...

  • hey.. HELP!! I did EVERYTHING u siad we should do, and it still says the same message carriage jam! And I've checked inside and there is NO JAM at all! What should I do????

  • If you've tried everything in the video, the printer likely needs to be serviced.

  • Hi -did you get this resolved?- I have tried everything also an still get the jammed message

  • @x0xvanex0x Did you turn the print off and then on again so it could reset itself? That's was the final step in fixing mine after following everything else.

  • Excellent video! Ii saved me from replacing my printer.

  • this was a great video... i also had a piece of paper jammed on the right side of the carriage path and that was the problem... awesome!

  • THANK YOU!!

This video did the trick for me as I had a "carriage jam" message & I'd tried everything from cleaning the strip that runs behind the carriage, to several hard resets, to searching for paper from the back, etc, etc.

Turns out it was simply paper that had gotten mashed up on the right side of the carriage, just like you showed in the video.

So, after about an hour of reading posts & getting blue fingers..I found this video & within 2 minutes, it was fixed!!

    THANKS AGAIN!!
