A very nice film that probably seems alien to folks today. In the post-war 50's people were happier, kinder, less suspicious, more civil, more sociable. Less selfish, more giving. We knew our neighbors. We said HI to strangers! Morale was high, as were morals. Strong work ethic. Self-reliance. Hollywood & TV weren't cesspools. People were far less thin-skinned. Slower to be offended. No political correctness. Oh how I miss those days, which is why I'm at this site & many others just like it.
weird how people say kids today are spoiled and want more more more and only stuff thats "cool" but even back then im sure kids were like that just like when the little girl switch her dinky stocking and put up a bigger one bc she wanted more treats or how the boy was like kids are gonna rave about my scooter!! So im sure kids been like they way they are for a long long time.
WE can change by doing something for someone..without expecting anything in return... enjoy your family...love hard, dont give up hope... then we can turn it around..before its too late...
It was a different world then. People were happy. We didn't have all the trashy garbage being churned out by Hollywood and the media. They don't promote decent family morals anymore. I long for those days again.
did people have this sort of christmas? because my dad's childhood was so horrible he used to have a complete breakdown every christmas. one year he and his brother used my sister's bb gun to shoot bulbs off of the tree. later, when i was married and had a child, i thought my christmases were wonderful, until i realized my ex-husband had gf's and finally left us. it's all an illusion. are their really wonderful christmases anywhere?
these people are trippin'. oh, wait...maybe it's me. haha! i dig her lil' sailor-girl suit. that martha is one hot chestnut, i tell you what. i'd like to slide down that chimney. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND BREAK OUT THE EGGNOG!
Very Nice,..this is when there was good morals, family togetherness, no divorce, and neighbors visited each other. And when on a man's handshake, it meant something. Hope these times will return.
@2groomer I AGREE,I WAS BORN IN 1960'S BUT "TOTALLY" AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENT AS THOSE DAYS ARE GONE,I MIGHT NOTE THAT THE QUALITY OF STUFF NOW A DAYS SUCKS,ALL MADE IN CHINA,HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES!!!!!!!!!
This is the idealized view of Christmas which with I grew up. Not very realistic either now or then, but all the wonderment of post WWII America and a helluva lot better than anything we have out there, today.
