  • Great playing, great sound from the bass, and that's a nice bassline.

However, your timing is sometimes a little out. Nothing terrible, but it's a little noticable.

    Still great though.

  • yeah man!

  • Great video man. But in the solo from 1:53 to 1:57, those were some wrong notes on the recording, not you. ;D

  • very good playing and a good song

  • excellent taste

  • Very cool!!!!!!!

  • How did you get the camera to follow you by itself? Great playing by the way!

  • he never said the camera was mounted. someone might have been controlling it.

  • It was mounted.

  • Nice:)

  • not bad

  • WHICH SONG IS THIS????

  • Uhhh....Pick up the pieces.

  • You know it's so cool to see a younger Generation enjoying what was the Chart busters of our era. The thing I loved was LP's and Bands that playd one song instrumentally for what seemed like hours, check out the old Santanna buddy miles compilations, hey youtube pls extend commnt range!

  • Dats the way I play Fretless! yo go dude! playin my generation Jams! now thats a bassman! are you using a Flang soungs a bit compressd, sweet Bass by the way, I need a new one or a nice used Lefty or righty brick7985at msn dot com Cool!

  • Thank you and yes I'm using a flang type effect.

  • woah bassists are sooo layed back compared to guitarists lol and im a guitarist

  • Generally thats true.

  • cos we actually can actually look good without having to jump around :P

  • i learnt the three finger technique from watchin john entwistle hes a good one to look out for if ur interested in it

  • for gods sake man smile!!!!

  • Nice job my man... If I can recall correctly the song is played in the of F. I guess you know that. Perhaps you are working on some other scale building tech stuff. Keep up the good work.. Wood shedding will make things things much better. Learn to love it and you will surprise yourself...

  • Sorry for all the questions but how do you do that three finger technique like that? If you could help me out I'd really appreciate it.

  • You practice index, middle, ring, middle or vise versa. That is your 16th note order for 1-e-and-a. Make sure each finger is getting and equal attack on the string. Also, look up Steve Bailey for someone who has mastered this technique.

  • badd no!

  • Great to finally listen to some NO BULL bass playing! Groove on

  • Good stuff ... can't beat classic funk classics like that ... looking forward to seeing more of your vids Davcom!

  • OH thanks!

  • I really like that one dude, groovy as hell =P

  • How much 4 da bass buddy :-)Nice playing anyway...

  • nice vid mate

  • Thanks.

  • Good go man, but if you ever get on stage you'd give the crowd stage fright, don't look so timid man, give yourself a little electric shock every now and then, that should sort it for you!

  • wow great funk stuff man

  • great sound, I like jazz bass. What's model is this?

  • Thanks! It's the American deluxe V with some custom options. It's on ebay right now if your interested.

  • Got any advice for slap bass and good funk and slap bass songs? That would really help me thanx.

  • Yes. For slap bass make sure your octaves groove. Also, try to slap along to brick house and play that funky music.

  • Thanks this will help. I also curioius about double slapping and popping how is that achieved. Check out Korn Get the life by this bassist on youtube to what I mean.

  • pick up the pieces !

  • Oh, and I love your bass, I want one, 4 string though. I like how the gold hardware looks on that finish and pickguard.

  • Thanks. I will be selling it shortly on ebay if your interested.

  • I am...but I am also poor, haha.

  • When you play the octaves (1:12-20) are you just using your index to play them or just your index and ring? Why not all 3?

  • It is all 3. The high octave note always gets my index. The low octave note is always alternating between my ring and middle fingers. Understand?

  • is this better than using the fingers in a strict 1-2-3 or 3-2-1 way?

  • Is it better? Well...you will be better at whatever you practice the most. But for me, and it may work for other, on octave finger technique, I guess the i use 2-1-3-1(One beging the index finger). Hope this helps.

  • Dude, that's a good looking bass for sure.

  • Thanks. I put on all the gold hardware and pickguard myself.

  • what jazz is that?

  • The American Deluxe. However I added all the gold hardware myself, including the bridge. Do u like?

It is this bass here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/FenderAmericanDeluxeJBassV5String?sku=511526

  • yeah i really like jazz basses, i want the american 75 reissue

  • ya thats a killer bass line.

I used to play it in a funk band.

Also sounds like you are using either an envelope filter (possibly a mutron) or an auto wha?

    Am I correct?

  • Thanks. Yes, I'm using a zoom b2.1u effects box

  • same

  • good job is that one of your robots controlling the camera good job though pointdexter

  • Thanks. I wish I had robots.

  • Congradulations, man! Sounds good! Hope you get to try it out with a band!

    John

  • Well thank you fine sir!

  • I don't know. I think its just auto focusing.

  • not bad

  • how is the camera following your every move?
