  • Yes, oh yes, OH YEES, yes

  • whitch episode is this and from witch season????

  • Wow, I've owned this car for 5 years, having only recently sold it (more like given it away) and now I find out that on a daily basis I placed my butt cheeks in the same depression as made by Mr. Clarkson's lardy @rse! I expect to see this motor appear on ebay very soon (and at an inflated price) now that the new owner has been made aware of it's 'celebrity' status.

  • in canada we get those days in october

  • wtf... this isnt even a good snow in canada, we only take a snow day if theres more than a foot of snow in one night, not 5 centimetres... people drive porsche 911's in a foot of snow here in the winter.

  • What about BMW 3 series Xdirve or the Merc 4Matich or the Audi Quattro?

They all would do great on those roads.

  • @AlexKBK The BMW and Merc awd are only available in lhd.

  • I hate this LOL.

When i was in kindergarten we weren't allowed to go outside when there was -35'C!

My friend who lives in Lubeck, Germany if there was 10cm of snow or -10'C you didn't have to go to the school.

  • @14EMC88

"My friend who lives in Lubeck, Germany if there was 10cm of snow or -10'C you didn't have to go to the school."

Selten so einen Blödsinn gelesen !

  • I would buy a subaru legacy

  • ha i live in chipping norton its such a shithole

  • IT has AWD not 4wd Jerry!

  • which episode?

  • haha come to northern america

  • You can put snow tires on FWD/RWD car and it will work fine...

I live in Canada with a RWD BMW, I would know.

  • germany? twice? youre welcome.

  • you haven't beaten americans ;)

  • @Veyronp87 actually...see war of 1812

  • @lexdiamonds1990

the war of 1812, wasn't an official win for britain, but i will admit they technically did a lot better than america(a burgeoning nation). Whats more america didnt even have a navy at the time so the fact britain couldnt demolish us is a little embarrassing.

  • @Veyronp87 I'll agree its arguable but once someone's burned your capital and forced your president to flee his house, it's hard to say it was a tie.

  • @lexdiamonds1990

and its arguable that not being able to defeat a colony twice is humiliating.

  • @Veyronp87 The war of 1812 wasn't top priority due to some guy called Napoleon. He was quite the little troublemaker that one. We would've brushed aside America with ease if our best units weren't tied up in Europe

  • @aspiringdrummer17

i actually kind of agree with you, but its still quite embarrasing considering brits lost twice.

  • @DougieB1990 its youtube that advitise not bbc and they do believe in advertisiing its just our licence fee covers or funds the bbc... thats what i was told at the bbc center in london, my dad just brought this car home we had no idea he was going too lol :)

  • HERES THE TOP QUESTION.. IS THAT CAR RELIABLE??????

  • @mustafa142004 i just bought this car, its very reliable. i have the 2002 model, no touch screen. very nice car.But i cant seem to find the place where to insert cd's :(

  • Is $8000 for 2002 with 47k miles good deal? 3.0 excellent shape!

  • Why has this got an advert if the BBC don't believe in advertising?

  • @DougieB1990 This is BBC Worldwide. Outside the UK they are not funded by the license fee, and use advertising

  • soo funny!

  • For once i agree with Jezza the X type 4WD is superb in the white stuff. No fancy diffs or electronic aids just the classic split 40% of the power to the front and 60% to the rear and you still get traction on a gradiant. Only trouble you keep going and every thing else grinds to a standstill.

  • I'd rather spend my money on a Volvo G990 with the new 11 speed auto gear box.

Yes, the new Volvo G990 comes with new seating, new CD player, Seat and steering wheel heater as well as better ergonomics and better all-around view.

And it's MUCH better in the snow and ice !!

  • it feels very jaguarish LOL

  • Audi A4 has quattro too lol.

  • its snowing and those girls are in skirts....wtf....lmao

  • not the volvo estate

  • Wisconsin gets much worse snow and the big boys with their chunky tires on their enormous Fords and Chevrolets ALWAYS spin out before the Jags, Saabs, Merceces, and Audis.

  • Great Britain has the same weather as Vancouver, BC. Because of the proximity to the ocean there are very mild winters and it rains quite a bit. When it does snow everything turns to chaos; mainly because most cars aren't equipped with proper winter tires. It's not really a matter of front or rear wheel drive, its a not having any traction because of improper rubber.

  • I'm thinkin' of getting 1 ...probably will pick 2.5 V6, but saloon version! I wonder if they are heavy on petro,l because of 4WD ?

  • @MacDacpl no way

    i own a 3L

it ain heavy on petrol at all!

  • snow???

    never seen snow...

its a miracle if it snows here...

  • Drove mine up St Peter in Switzerland, one of only 3 cars made it to the top loaded with the family and ski kit! . Nice motor, Sad to sell it soon they dont make any more, wo will have to be usual Audi/Passat/BMW but plug styled car next I guess.

  • in Russia it snows all the time

  • FUCK YOU NOBODY LIKES THE DAMN PEPSI COMMERCIAL

  • I'd love to see some British drivers canada when we get just a few inches of snow

  • nice car

  • Why the fuck are you utter nobheads talking about the war? The German's LOST that's how it STAYS.

  • Jaguarish:D

  • the 'jaaag'

  • lol @ the interwebs fight.Of course Clarkson says the english beat everyone else, even the weather,he is british after all and it's safe to say that they think they are the best at everything in the world

  • Obviously you've never met a british person.

  • clarkson's a cunt but you gotta love him

  • Bloody hell, I have never been stalled in that little bit of snow. How the heck do the Swedes go round in their Volvo 240s all these years? Wll, the right tyres. OK, snow just at freezing is worse than in colder temps but I don't really struggle. have a fat old Bentley now, they does very well, if I bother and drive it. When it gets to needing wheel drive, it will be a Landy or Land cruiser.

  • 240000st

  • Germans twice? lol looooooool what saved Britain and France was the US that shifted the balance of power towards the end of the WWI and it was by FAR Soviet Union who did the GREATEST part of the job in beating the Nazis in the WWII...this guy is going too far sometimes...

  • The Soviets were allies with the Germans dumbass. The only part they help with is by switching side at the very end (when they knew they were gonna loose)

  • @tph420 look man, MolotovRibbentrop Pact was terminated in 1941 by Hitler's implementation of Operation Barbarossa. However, Barbarossa would fail and 93% of German troops would perish at the Eastern Front. Eastern Front=Soviet Union; Western Front=USA, Britain, France, etc by the way the second phase of WFront was opened in 1944: when Hitler was already getting owned big time by the Soviets who took Berlin in 1945. so if you dont read books at least read wikipedia before posting something

  • My German car is quite nice even in the snow and it can even chirp the tires in second all with 159 hp.

  • audi quattro kicks asses.

  • No wonder the AA advice you to stay at home if they are stuck in the snow. Aren't they supposed to help YOU if you get stuck? In the "budget supercars challenge" May uses the AA due to car problems. Who will you call if the AA are stuck in the snow ;-)

  • Again: anybody know name of the music @ 4:22 ?

  • I guess this guy forgets the battle of Lexington and those pesky "Americans," a bunch of unwashed peasants who thought that they could rule themselves without the help of the nobility and an all-powerful monarch...

Sorry to inject national history and politics, but I've noticed that this guy relentlessly engages in anti-American sentiment that takes root in a snobby superiority-complex from Europeans against those unruly and crude Americans.

Anyways, besides that, great show, I'm a fan.

  • Thank God for the XF!

  • when it snows. i poop

  • wth... who cares ? :))

  • what does AA stand for? weather advisers of some sort, I am guessing, but I just can't figure out what AA stands for

  • Automobile Association

  • I wish this show was on more in the US, only seen it a couple times

Brits seem to have a lot of fun and I love *their* terms/items/actions, most Americans would be very easily confused and lost in an average convo. between a couple Brits

FYI- the US won freedom from the British then majorly helped during WI & WWII, we were fighting the Japs too But my life would be boring w/out my English Bulldog though I will keep my V-8 engines pick up truck/SUV's & *extra* freedoms & rights & firearms

  • In Canada we just put beer, skates and hockey equipment in the trunk when it snows.

  • In russia we just go outside and have snowfights, iceskate, ski/snowboard, and try to be idiots and swim in the water. But health and saftey just don't give a fuck

  • @slickmovedud

Relax pal, he is just being funny. Its Clarkson for crying out loud. Some of you guys are taking this a little too serious.

  • @Kiadaw77 I don't think he was serious and he seems quite relaxed.

  • @slickmovedud Agreed. I'm Canadian and the first time I ever drove a car was at night in the snow with the all the items you mentioned in the trunk.

  • @slickmovedud dont forget our maple syrup!

  • @slickmovedud dam right

  • @slickmovedud amen bro!

  • @slickmovedud That car is actually for civilized nd maybe old guys...Not for hunks!

  • @slickmovedud AND BACON!! Don't forget the BACON!

  • @slickmovedud in england we play a proper mens sport and we go and play rugby in underwear

  • @slickmovedud in the USA we lough at canadians

  • @EdiownedU well its a boot time somebody said that aloud eh, ive been wanting to say that fo years if you would like to know what im talking a boot...now if you would please excuse me, im gonna play some hitty pucky, you wanna play mate?

  • Can someone please tell me what the orchestral music that starts at 4:22 is please? I've been dying to know for aaages now =/

  • 5:30 = Gold.

Clarkson, you keep on doing what you're doing.

  • The estate version does not have the mondeo underpinings.

  • @turdbandit Oh yes it does, the floorpans are identical, apart from an extra couple of inches on the rear.

  • Think you'll find the 2.5 & 3.0 are 4x4 thats why chap. Not the 2.0 or 2.2 diesel or 2.0V6.

  • This is a load of rubbish. My dad has an 08 X-type diesel and it's terrible in the snow. My 99 mondeo V6 runs rings around it on the white stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • Do you approach people in real life in the same way as you approach people on the internet? I only ask because calling people morons would probably leave you with very few friends. Still, when you grow up you might mature a bit. I am aware that SOME of the V6 petrols are 4 wheel drive (the 2.0 V6 isn't) - maybe I should have made my point more clearly - the X-type chassis isn't very good. FWD vs FWD it loses out to the older mondeo. I expect 4WD vs 4WD it would lose out as well. Clearer?

  • Comment removed

  • Growing up is exactly what I called it. Read my previous post for clarification. Well I can only comment on what I know and what I know is that my experience of the X-type is that it's pathetic in the snow. Yours differs - fine, I wont argue with your experience, but it doesn't change my oppinion. Nothing I've read excuses your attitude though. I doubt very much that you would call someone a moron face to face, but the anonymity of the internet empowers you to do so.

  • @rudeboymick

if you listened to the video, you would have known that the diesel is smaller, less expensive, and Front Wheel Drive! aka, its going to suck no matter what. you are an idiot.

  • It isn't less expensive than a MK2 mondeo and yet it is worse. That's the point I'm making. If you read what I've written you'd know that. Also, someone who uses the acronym "aka" in that context shouldn't be calling other people idiots. The one you're searching for is i.e.

  • And I appear to be signed in on my brother's account. Oh well.

  • After totaling my Junky 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer (thank god) I went to my buddy who's the GM at a dealership. He begged me to test this X-type sport sedan. Reluctantly I test drove it and immediately I wanted it and bought it. Love this car!... Volvo's wow now those are cars that are built. My friends 960 had over 350,000 miles when her parents bought her a new car becuase the volvo need the sunroof track repaired and a AC recharge. Its still inuse at a local shop as a loaner car. Over 400K

  • i cant think of the episode im looking for, im pretty sure it has the XKR porsche 911, and another car, cant remmebr, but they are on a beach, a really long beach and they just play aorund in the sand and watter...

  • with the monaro on the beach and they cant decide with is better?

  • i cant remember what it was really about,

  • Try Season 4 Episode 5.

Jaguar XKR, Porsche 911 Carrera 2, and a BMW 645i.

Gives you some idea how memorable the BMW is!

  • what's the song that starts at 4:22..???

  • haha he pretty much made an rv out of a jog.

  • JAAAAAG.......

"i need a bit more gravity" lol

  • Love JAGUAR!!!

  • Cheers Bkzbeatboxxx

    cool tune.

  • in 3 sereis it is just called x-drive... :S

  • Damn good car in heavy snow. I know, I have one. And while the big SUV's are stuck on the side of the interstate because they don't know how to drive.... I go wizzing by at 60 MPH straight and true for 4 years going. To damn bad they stopped making the car.

  • Can anybody tell me the name of the track at 3:40

  • As Serious as Your Life (Instrumental) by J Dilla

  • two words

    snow tires

  • @Bed4rdC on a couple of inches of snow? that's a great way to damage your car

  • don't say that at 4:36 mini-van driver has pedal to the metal.

  • i wanna see him in a minnesota winter with a chevy S10 RWD

    that would be amusing

  • same truck i have, havent been in snow yet, except on a big hill

  • good luck with it, lots of sand bags in the back helps a bit

  • yea, i got the push button 4wd, but i thought about taking my no good spare and filling it with rocks or water...

  • Hahah I agree Ive seen this happen but it was a tacoma lol

  • man whats with the intence music its like 3 cm of snow lol

  • Comment removed

  • Could of just brought Ray Mears, no need for all that load then.

  • I hate the snow while driving, i'd rather get a bus or train to work when the snow and ice is on the road.

  • there's no problem driving fast in the snow the problems come when you try to stop

  • Andy Mcnab lol

  • wow i can take three times that snow in my old ford aspire.. and thats practically a geo metro just a litle bigger..its not that hard to drive in snow i handled that litle aspire going same speed as the big 4 wheel drive trucks.. funnest iv had in the snow was my aspire racing a geo metro drifting everywhere passin each other.. good times..

  • lawl the Cossie 4x4 has no problems at all driving in snow ;)

  • thats my moms car!!!. my 2nd time driving it (its clutch and it was my 2nd time driving clutch) we had the worst imaginable winter road conditions and the road is quite technical. and it was my first year driving. i drifted all the corners and that car has amazing traction control cuz i never came close to coming off the road into the ditch. and my speed was 40mph with hills tight hairpins and HORRIBLE DIRT ICY SLUSHY ROADS!!. it was amazing. one of my fav cars ever

  • what do u mean driving clutch? u mean a manual transmission?

  • yeah dude

  • two words: yea right

  • whats yeah right?

  • Geeksquad- You shouldnt be driving at 40 mph in bad icy conditions. In what ever car your in. I drove 20 mph round a roundabout and nearly smashed into the barriers.

  • i went that on the straight away. i am far too smart to go around corners on conditions like that at 40. and like i said it was one of my first times driving manual so i would sometimes accelerate too much.

  • From what ive read it sounds like you drive like a twat. Why are you driving at 40 mph in bad icy conditions???? You drive like a cunt and kill ya self ive no problem with that just dont kill other people through your own stupidity

  • Here in Canada, our highways stil do +90km/hr regardless almost regardless of the weather... but most of us use real winter tires, keep good distance and drive properly maintained vehicles.

  • lmao dont exaggerate :P

  • yeah man reppin O town

  • no i drive my shitty old landcruiser, i dont give a fuck if i hit anyone

  • heeh hell yeah thats the way

  • please, you listen music of TUPAC

  • I've had a great time watching this video, about a Jag driving in the snow and then looking through the comments!?! What's all this crap about challenger tanks and how late the yanks were into the last two world wars, etc?? Where's the connection? It's a lighthearted look at a car driving in some snow, not a comparison of 'my country's better than yours'. No wonder there's wars all over the place! Anyway, the UK's roads are too congested, which makes them chaotic in any bad weather.

  • wicked car

  • wow pussies haha

come to canada and see some real snow

  • ya dude im not in canada but im in minnesota and thats close enough.. our snows fun, iv drove thru canada during winter

  • Even a US southern state like Kentucky gets more snow than England ever imagined (I lived in Cambridge for three years; stockpile the coal), thanks to the Gulf Stream which originates between Florida and Texas, then flows up through the Atlantic to that lump o' rock called Britain, keeping it in perpetual 40-degree wet misery despite its latitude.

All Brits need to counter snow is front wheel drive, which they invented. Forget the continental Eurotrash cars.

  • We're not used to heavy snow in England, the town I live in got less than half an inch of snow between December and March. That's why we panic at a heavy snowfall, we just don't know how to cope in those conditions. Thanks America for keeping our lump 'o rock nice and mild through winter :)

  • i want a X type sedan 3.0 with the XKR BBS Detroit

    :D

  • american cars are trash

  • NOT THE US! hahahahaha.

  • especially usa

  • "Eat your heart out Vlad De Sierre. And welcome to Vlad De Chipping Norton."

I like to actually go there in the winter.

  • val d'isere??????

  • I have the 4 door version of this car with 4WD and electronic stability control. When I lived in Germany there was a sudden snowstorm, 7-8 inches in 70 minutes. The only way to get home was a mile long, very steep hill. My X-type made it down that hill, slowly passing Mercedes, BMWs and even a 4WD Dodge truck. Once I got to the bottom and a red light, there was a bus sliding back down the hill toward me. The last 6 miles home were a cakewalk. 125MPH on the autobahn is gravy. Love it.

  • i do like this jag id have it in race green tho. cant see why people buy bmw x5's or merc ml's but hey its there money so il just shut up lol

  • i live in canada right in the snow belt region.. which is why i have always had an impreza

  • If anyone wants to watch all Top Gear episodes from seasons 1-13 online for free just message me I'll send you the link

    Thanks!

  • Only because they make cars like no other eh ? Then why have all of their original auto manufacturers failed and had to have been bought out ? Even Britains famed TVR is now owned by a Russian.

Also why has no one explained why he put an R at the end of Alaska ? Because he's english and speaking english was the answer I got, but that should mean he should be able to pronounce words properly in english right ?

  • I am American and I am siding with the Brit. Only because one they can make cars like no other. Two they don't act as if they own the world. Three they make damn good tea.

  • STUPID FUCKING YANK I BET! Hell yeah, Wanker. Or should that be wanka? You tell me.

  • Well he his an English Man speaking English, we did give the world this.

    Learn please.

  • lol. i hate how they pronounce words with an "a" at the end. "alasker"

  • subaru imprezer

  • LOL, at the very end.

"I need a bit more gravity"

    Exellent!

  • Americans and British....try Canada....try your cars on our roads...the only thing you have between the two of you that`ll handle our winters is american muscle cars, and if they have a block heater installed. The frontwheel drive bs don`t work up here.

  • And try Alaska! My 4WD Toyota is absolutely necessary for all around safe driving from November through early April.

Also, Canadians . . don't forget the U.S. plains and Great Lake states. . .

  • Rubbish! What about Norway, Sweden and Finland? We don't have muscle cars (which are useless because they have too much power and not enough grip). Hell, I drive a STANDARD Citroen Picasso with Snow grip tyres (no spikes) in -40C+ temps with no problems. Yes, I have an engine block and interior heater system but that's law here.

I guess the difference is, our councils are more EFFICIENT at keeping the roads drivable, even in the worst and most remote locations.

  • yeah, we're used to snow here in Norway, in England they have one day each year :P

  • our 1 snow day is nothing to what you have (",)

  • shuda done te volvo v50 with awd

  • Its smaller, less powerful, less comfortable ect. Trust me i love my old 940 estate but cmon still rather have the jag

  • LOL @ those roads.

He should have tested it in Norway. 2WD is the most common, but we use winter tires with spikes though. I would have liked to see him drive a Ford with backwheeldrive on a norweigian mountain road (wich is a common thing to do)

  • LOL agreed....and the roads in Minnesota can get pretty crazy too, especially in the hills and it's illegal for us to have spikes or studs on our tires because they say it ruins the roads -- so they use salt on the roads in which ruins our CARS! Makes no sense IMO....But yes, those roads were baby roads I would drive a Corvette with factory tires on those roads with no problems lol

  • 字幕付けて

  • tyoukimoiman, i tooootally agree with u man!

  • Pfft.. Do some winter tyre testing instead. That's what really matters in 'the arctic'.

  • agree...in a test that I read 2 years ago, a fwd car equipped with four winter tires outperformed a fwd montero with all season rubber on it in absolutely every discipline....
