letting go is the most touching peice of music i ever listened to the movie is not sad but surprisingly i started crying at the end thank you Michael Giacchino i spend alot of time searching for the piano tutoral or at least the music sheets every one please help i beg you . :) :) :) :) :)
"The great thing about JJ and this new generation making great movies is that they believe in orchestras and that's the most important thing." Steven Spielberg talking about J.J. and Giacchino.
The way of composing scores has definetely changed since the end of the 90s. This beautiful Giacchino's piece of music sounds very 80s-90s. But the question is: why did the style change so much? Maybe scores like this are not wanted any longer because they sound too retro? This decade has seen the years of Hans Zimmer-like soundtracks, which are beautiful but in my opinion too action-oriented. I appreciate Giacchino's choice of looking back to old movies, to Newman, Williams and Horner style
@zackcanasta I Think How To Train Your Dragon was robbed for best score the year it was nominated. It really captured this kind of feeling with some celtic flair. I understand the idea to be progressive in how we create music for films, but I also think there's something to be said about pure beauty in film scoring and both this and HTTYD had it.
After i saw the movie.I was counting down when the soundtrack and dvd realese comes out.I got the soundtrack as soon it came out and now waiting for DVD realese.
I saw the movie & I still don't understand why they called it "Super 8". I think I saw that title on a magazine in the movie but other than that ... I'm lost XD
@hypnosegirl16 It's a type of film released quite a while ago for the camera they were using. There's a few scenes where you see the rolls of film and the boxes it comes in.
@hypnosegirl16 Super 8 refers to the type of video camera the kids used to shoot everything for "The Case". I thought it was a fitting title personally.
@mdjperez09 Both are true. The contest was called the Super 8 contest because that particular brand of camera was popular, if not required, for those participating in it.
To add on to my earlier comments this summer has offered us a large amount of really good epic sci fi,fantasy block busters.Thor,.Green Lantern,Transformers,Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows,Captain America just to name a few. This score to Super 8 by Michael Giacchino is most likely the most lyric and passionate of all the films released this summer ! It is with out a doubt worthy of nomination for best original score.Chaleriagorn, sound track enthusiast, aspiring army trombonist
@mac19971 He might have a bit more class than that. lol. It was something he said about all the ppl he ignored Scott Pilgrim bcuz it was "weird"...but then went to see the movie w/giant robots and hump jokes.
@thegmanofEAP Why would he say such a thing? Cause not everyone is HIM. I respect and LOVE his movie. But he can't just say people who have not seen or not been ABLE to see Scott Pilgrim is a mother fucker XD
@mac19971 But I understand what he's saying. People said they didnt see it cuz it looked "weird", but then they went and saw Alvin and the Chipmunks and Transformers. However, whenever people finally see it, they're like "yeah, it was awesome".
@mac19971 Ho ho! My friend. I am sorry for you, That is what EVERYONE thinks; it looks dumb. Then they see it! Its funny, witty, filled w/pop culture references about geekiness, and has some awesome effects. It is NO Sucker Punch.
The spirit of classic film music thankfully lives on with great composers like Michael. He might not be as skilled with subtle details and chromatic material as Williams is, but Michael knows how to tug at the heartstrings twice as hard as the old maestro. That is one department Michael is superior in.
@lovelydiva06 The Music heard in the Trailer was originally composed by James Horner for the Film "Cocoon" back in 1985. You can find it on yt, though.
Thank you very much for finally uploading this complete Album !! I have just correspondence with Varase Sarabande.Apparently there were several circumstances which delayed the release of the score on CD.That is the reason this film score will not be released August 2nd !! While it is lame it was beyond there control at Varese Sarabande !! Thanks again for uploading this complete album in your channel !! Regards Chaleriagorn, sound track enthusiast, aspiring army trombonist ect
