  • I am not a Christian, but I absolutely love this music! I find monastic chants to be very relaxing and inspiring. They make me want to learn Latin and are perfect for studying (just like Jedimouse says).

    Peace To You All !

  • Deo gratias!

  • Truly blissful music. I´m jamming to this while reading the Bible. :)

  • Father, I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will. Whatever you may do, I thank you: I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures – I wish no more than this, O Lord. Into your hands I commend my soul; I offer it to you with all the love of my heart, for I love you Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands, without reserve, and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father.

  • Is this the music from Halo?

  • Sounds veru well!! I think that the western christians have veru good traditional chuch music(vocal one). I dont like at all new chuch music with instruments.

At least this is my opinion.

    greetings from Orthodox Macedonia

  • FYI "Byzantine Chant" is vowel based with eight tones reflecting (8) eight human emotions and has both a joy and sorrow mode. The tempo is analogous to the emotion expressed by the tone. For example, Tone protos (a') is the joy tone and the resurrection services are in this tone and has a quickened tempo to it as is also Tone tritos (Gamma) as done in the dogmatic troparia of the resurrection. Plagal fourth tone for example is the sorrow/lamentation tone used extensively during Lent

  • 1:42........it just hit me that we look at an old world where not one single person in all of Europe smoked ciggys!! not even pipes! nuthin! prior to the 16th century. courtesy of Sir Francis Drake!

  • Ensemble Organum is superb in this genre

  • Ave Maria, Ora pro nobis.

  • As a student-medievalist, I use it too when I'm studying or doing research.

  • I envy your profession

  • I'm still a student ;-)

  • @jedimouse I completely agree! I listen this music while I work study or meditate. The effect on focus and clearing mind is amazing.

  • @jedimouse also, it's tremendously effective for anxiety.

  • @jedimouse same...helps me feel a part of the history I am immersing myself in!

  • @jedimouse
