  • I want that NIN-jacket

  • SHUT UP, so what? What does it matter now

  • I love this tune and the video. Trent was so ahead of his time and when I listen to the new music and dubstep, I go and listen to NIN, because he already did it...

  • I think VEVO is the reason that 23 people disliked this. Of course someone will say something like "if you really liked these bands you would show it by sitting through the ads" making him sound like a good guy and also making sense. Just let us bitch and be obnoxious. Atleast I didn't get JB involved.

  • What a mind-fuck. No-one dares to make videos like this anymore.

  • i really want to

  • I want trents NIN jacket

  • a BIG MIDDLE FINGER to VEVO for F ING UP YOUTUBE as we know it with BS ADS!!!

  • @funkypost you can skip the ads at least every time i have had videos with vevo you could

  • This was filmed the year I was born in the city I was born in. I feel like that should give me some sort of right to his hand in marriage or something.

  • @nataliemb89 same year you were born? More like the right to be his daughter lol

  • @v73k1 best Youtube comment ever :D

  • I STAY UP ABOVE IT

  • That is the freaking coolest version of "Rain rain go away" I've ever heard.

  • listen to this album on headphones...it WILL blow your mind!

  • trent is so cool ^^

  • People, dislike button is not a download button.

  • @v73k1 Funny! :)

  • @RDdaNINJA ha! i just emailed my friend with the same message!!! ...video triggered an fbi investigation ....

  • I didnt even know they made a video for this..... SWEETNESS!!

  • weird this is from the 80s n it still makes since n rox..

  • I remember a 1992 red sunbird with a sunroof, hangin with the guys on the military base, blastin this..oh how I feel old lol

  • NIИE IИCH ИAILS

  • Didn't know NIN was this good. Dayum

  • To me, this song seems like a tragic love story, you know?...first, you're in love. Everything's great. You feel awesome...then you see a fault, a doubt, a "dot" and it infests the whole thing and the love deteriorates. It's over between you and her...now, you're down in it, down with the bad parts of you and you say goodbye to the happiness you lived before.

  • I got to see an ass get smacked in an ad before this video. YIPEE

  • i thought this was with TVT records?

  • 21 people will get a needle in their eye

  • jeeez i love nin so much, i want to say this is my fave but..........isnt it so funny how everything works out

  • jeeez i love nin so much, i want to say this is my fave but..........

  • All the Trolls Speaking Nonsense and Attempting to Slander Trent with pure BS is almost as bad and Laughable as Vevo Itself.

  • I love this video. So cool.

  • *Looks at top two comments*

Isn't it funny how everything works out?

  • I USED TO BE SO BIG AND STRONG!

I USED TO KNOW MY RIGHT FROM WRONG!

I USED TO NEVER BE AFRAID!

    I USED TO BE SOMEBODY!

  • vevo sucks

  • Trent Reznor spent his adolescence carefully studying bands like Ministry & Skinny Puppy until the time came to cash in with a big record company and rip them off. Look up the promo video of Skinny Puppy's "Dig It" and tell me this isn't plagiarism. He's never really developed any sense of artistic curiosity, outside of his desire to profit. The fact he collaborated with Marylin Manson is proof of this.

  • @Misterioso ok.

  • @Misterioso No, no, he (and Chris Vrenna, most likely) spent their adolescence fucking sheep and making moonshine in the Pennsylvania countryside.

  • @Misterioso The video is similar but the song isn't, maybe the drums sound a bit similar but that's about it. Nine Inch Nails were influenced by Skinny Puppy but I don't think they ripped them off. Skinny Puppy's sound was always much darker than most of what Reznor did, and to be perfectly honest I find Trent Reznor to be a more talented musician than Ogre, even though I enjoy Ogre's work, I don't like it better than any of the NIN stuff that was released between 1989 and 2002.

  • @Mafila Trent Reznor has claimed his "first song" "Down In It" is a "total rip-off" of Skinny Puppy's 1986 single "Dig It" in a radio interview. Credit: ninwiki.com (Skinny Puppy Section)

  • @Misterioso more like SP's video "Dig It" and Ministry's "Flashback". 2 in 1.

  • @huypezda I know, what a fraud.

  • @Misterioso stfu and gtfo troll

  • @Misterioso At least he's actually said something deep and profound. EVERY great musician copied someone. Kurt Cobain copied the pixies, vaselines, and sonic youth with a passion, did it affect his cultural impact? No. Elvis copied black people, this has all been done before. Does Trent need youropinion of musical curiosity, seeing as he has used the medium to influence so many people's lives? No. there's curiosity in his persona, but, it seems I'm following in his footsteps, 'down in it'. dfnce

  • @SRCmandan Kurt Cobain was an intelligent human being who cared deeply for others. Unfortunately he was abused by almost everyone he knew. He didn't copy anyone, he simply paid homage. Elvis Presley is completely irrelevant and not even in the same category as the musicians we're discussing. I don't care if Trent Reznor "needs" my opinion concerning anything. The best advice I can give to kids like you; refrain from viewing infomercials featuring Trent Reznor type people such as Bashar.

  • @Misterioso Presley was alone in the world, not unlike Reznor, Cobain. Incredible pain is incredible pain.

  • @nborges1 Elvis Presley was an idiot who lucked into a contract because studio executives though he was attractive and that he could be marketed. These executives then purchased the rights to songs from various blues musicians spent several days in studios coaching Presley on how to sing the songs. Elvis Presley had no desire to help others, he merely allowed the industry to cater to his every need. Real musicians frown upon someone like this. Modern music is like this.

  • unless it is perc 30s

  • too high to be down in it

  • the guy was a fucking janitor when he made this... dreams are possible, friends.

  • @stewardo haha no wonder his music is so mad LOL

  • @stewardo i wanna be a janitor... and i will. dreams r possible

  • @stewardo When I'm feeling down about my own music I think about this little fact as well !

  • @stewardo Yes sir thumbs up, Trent is living proof of that \m/

  • @stewardo I've often dreamed of being a janitor... thanks for the encouragement!

  • at one point i really was up above it but now im truely down in it

  • Fuck you Vevo

  • O...kay...This is interesting,

  • Hey Vevo, You Suck Dick, BUT, before i start a fight like everybody else, let me say that if your getting money, and youtube gets money, thats all that matters. because running a website as powerful as Youtube isnt easy, you need alot of money, and if we are getting it, thats all that matters, no fights, all good but we still need our YOU in YOUTUBE back, because of WMG fucking with us. -Wesley683

  • Skinny Puppy > NIN

  • @Golempire At least by early stuff anyway.

  • @Golempire compared to NIN, fuck Skinny Puppy. NIN all the way.

  • Comment removed

  • I remember seeing both NIN and Jane's Addiction live in 1988 and thinking, "wow, this is what the future of music looks like."

  • 0:49 SUBLIMINAL IMAGE

  • @originalcoolstud where? i dont see it

  • New lyrics,

    I'm a fucken muppet!!!

  • TRENT IS FUCKING HOTTT!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

  • i was 4 yrs old when this was new wow i fucking love trent!!

  • 1:22 actually caused a murder investigation when NIN lost a camera they were using. They had attached a balloon to it to get the eagle's-eye shot but the wind blew it into some farmer's field. The farmer found it and called the police...

  • @DEMchannel seriously? lol

  • No VEVO I don't like Blink 182!

  • Boards of Canada, Trent called, he wants his choppy, cut up background voice style back.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNewDigital Actually, BoC has some lyrics quite prominently in Geogaddi and a couple other things, and they feature vocal samples quite commonly, including the same choppy voice thing you can hear in the background here and in the background of BoC tracks such as "Eagle In Your Mind" and "Alpha and Omega".

I was joking for the most part though. You need to be less oblivious.

  • @hehfilms

Well, Skinny Puppy picked up and wanted their song back instead.

Don't hate on BOC ever, they're gods.

  • @mrfudgeyhead I'm not hating on BoC, I love BoC. I was making a joke, dickweed.

  • thats richard patrick of filter on the top right 1:46

  • I had the chance to ask Trent one day in LA about this song. I was screwing around with some pals of mine and I litterally bumped into him. He's fucking tall. he asked me if I was humming "Dig It" by SP, and I told him I was. He said it was a good song, and told me it inspired Down In It. I was like HOLY SHIT. then I was like HOLY FUCKING SHIT I'M TALKING TO TRENT REZNOR. As he walked to his car, I just stared like a dumbass

  • @LordCrazyMike trends like 5'6 or 5'7

  • Not too bad for a tribute to Skinny Puppy's "Dig It"

  • top comments: epic

  • Don't know why, but somehow singing DIG IT, DIG IT goes really well along this song.

  • Pretty Hate Machine is pure epicness.

There's not a bad song on the entire album.

  • @ehoyle37 I agree,it was way back then and still sounds awesome to this day

  • @ehoyle37 there's not one bad NIN song in existence!

  • And what i used to think was me is just a fading memory.

I looked him right in the eye and said "goodbye."

  • Hear this at the gym today.

  • Ah, back before Trent started to rhyme every third line with "decay"... The good old days.

  • Skinny Puppy ripp-off!

  • @elfofhorror shut up,

so what what does it matter now :)

  • this song must be played LOUD!!!!!!!!

  • @James25H it's about drugs just like the whole album base on.

  • turn up your sterios and think about the x

  • Every great Industrial band must have a video with someone being chased through an industrial area of town. It's a requirement.

  • @WinMOD42

Why yes indeed ... please refer to Ministry's "Stigmata" video whereby Alain Jourgensen in chased by Paul Barker whilst navigating the subterranean labyrinth of "Lower Wacker Drive" in the "Loop" portion of Chicago.

Another addition to your observation is the tendency for late 1980's - early 1990's Industrial / Industrial Dance / etc. videos to have the hyper-shake / time exposure effects in addition to the fast-forward & reverse effects of a single scene or action.

    ;-)

  • Stumbled across this song, then went, HEY WAIT, THIS PLAYS IN MY BOYFRIEND'S CAR EVERY TEN MINUTES. Oh, it's off Pretty Hate Machine. That's why. I'm just trying to understand the Breaking Dawn playlist, and I keep getting these curveballs!

  • @poosenewton you're a retard that can't spell and you are down in it!

  • The cheap t.v. effect on the television back then made cable t.v. look better. Wow look at the resolution! We never said that.

  • got myself a puppet, now im just a doughnut.when i first heard this song i thought they were saying this...

  • I've always been drawn to music off the beatin path because of a radio station on the University of South Florida campus. Back in the late 70's and early 80's it ran a show called "Free Form Radio", a 2 hour show every Friday and Saturday from 11pm till 1am. None of the music played was being aired on commercial radio and I was hooked from then on. So much good music I never heard of and I would never be the same. I write this because had it not been for 89.7 WUSF in 1979 I wouldn't like NIN.

  • fuck these forced ads!!! FUCKIN get them off of youtube NOW!!!!!!!

  • @midwayer11 ADBLOCKER IDIOT!!!!

  • @midwayer11 give me a business plan how youtube will make money?

  • @TheNineinchsnails im ignorant of computer knowledge but does it take money to run youtube?

  • @midwayer11 yes it takes a lot of staff and money to run youtube, with all the servers that cost millions, or thousands. They need to protect and update the website. It takes a lot of money to run it.

  • Funny now most of us who had this tape/cd when it came out and it was the biggest shit in the clubs in Texas.. now are 40 year old parents (well my friends,im just a 40 yo gay man) but even now this is as hot as it was when i was 19 or 20 and i wish there was a gay club in fort lauderdale brave to play stuff like this ..i only hear songs as good as this at the str8 strip clubs

  • FUCK YOU MATT, KIM AND MOST OF ALL VEVO

  • As a kid I first heard this on a crappy radio. For the longest time I swore the chorus was: "Powers of the Mullet!"

  • @JoshVelez7 - hahahaha! That's gold, Josh!

  • How many people got a headache from watching this video?

  • @TheBoss7374

    I got a headache

  • @CrazyAmanda23 You ALWAYS got a headache.

  • I heard the pre production shots of this video we're once somehow found by the FBI and we're under investigation for being a possible snuff film. Any truth to that?

  • @xDavJonathanx This is actually paying homage to the song & video of "Dig It" by Skinny Puppy, and they were the ones who originally got their video banned because it was rumored to have a snuff film playing in the background.

  • @xDavJonathanx They were trying to get a high shot by attaching a camera to a weather balloon. It was hovering above what appeared to be a dead Trent Reznor. It floated off before they could retrieve it(Protip: Should have attached a string to it). A farmer later found it and watched it, after seeing it he contacted the FBI. They investigated it and found he was still alive. Then it was on the news. You can find it here, search "nine inch nails hard copy" and its the first result.

  • @Idkfawin32 Ahhh, I knew it was something like that. Thanks for the info man!

  • Really? A Jennifer Lopez add on a Nine Inch Nails video? Trent should make them hurt for that.

  • who are the 12 fuktards who gave this a thumbs down???

  • avampireconfesses . com

  • NIN:1

    Hard Copy: 0

  • This song has lots of elements from Skinny Puppy's "Dig It" (1986) and Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" (1983)... which is actually a very very very good thing!

  • @KronnangDunn So everyone is ok Trent is like Mark Zuckenberg...a rip off.

  • this song is halo 01

  • i walked into my room in just my boxers (pre shower) and grabbed some clothes. this song came on my itunes. a spark in my brain combusted, i threw my clothes on the bed and started intense robotting for a solid 4 minutes. then the song was over and i looked in the mirror and my skinny body robotting and decided the internet must hear about this.
