Most combustion powered golf carts aren't terribly efficient—evident from the smell of unburnt fuel whenever they start and stop (though there might be exceptions). Electric models are much better, without even trying very hard to be—and don't stink. ☺

Lazy, godless seniors, who "retired" to spend their Social Security direct deposits to their banking and routing number.....and whose only "work" is to show up at a mob rally screaming "DON'T you DARE touch MY MEDICARE and SOCIAL SECURITY!!!!!!"
Meanwhile, our nation, under Obama, has Tripled its debt in under 3 years.
Enjoy your golf carts, you selfish, lazy, idiot Democrats.
@syrvagabon Why are you so bothered.Just because you probably did not work long enough to qualify for soc.sec..Maby you worked without claimg your wages and cannot qualify.I see no reason to let it bother you when they bought it to give them some fun,not to anoy you!!!!!!!!!!
@syrvagabon - Are you kidding me?? The reason those people are even getting SS is because they worked their entire lives and paid taxes! Unlike toooo many that get it and don't. They didn't triple the debt, they just paid their taxes every payday and hoped for the best. And BTW, do you think that SS pays for that lifestyle? Those are some very hardworking people that are finally enjoying the fruits of their labor and if they choose, at any time, to be lazy, they earned it. Democrats? Really? =D
Yes! Don't you dare! I fucking earned it! It's not a hand-out; it's an insurance policy, into which 15% of nearly everything i ever earned has been paid.
I highly recommend that you learn how these things actually work (including whose watches most of the last 14 trillion dollars of national debt [which in the past 3 years has risen by about 55%—not 300%] occurred on), before parroting your GOPbagger idols—like the mindless stooge whom they are counting on you to be.
Not a critcism, only an observation. It seems like it is basically an all-white community, the segregation based on socio-economic status. The divide continues in our society right through retirement. Whites definately have more income in retirement, because they make significantly more in the workplace than non-whites.
@heavyfog As a home-owner (white), I saw the same thing. I then started looking for non-whites. One I've met is a retired Army Colonel who had taught at West Point and served on Colin Powell's staff. You are correct about income as one of the main factors for moving there. But, more importantly, is the political leaning (conservative, if you haven't guessed). Come visit sometime...it's a great place to own a retirement home.

Don't think it's all that great. We live in a golf cart community also and the drivers are dangerous, ingore the laws and treat them like toys. We are forced to watch out for THEM, they just get in and go.. One of them broad sided me. She went thru a red light..They think they have the right of way and drive automobile drivers nuts! We're thinking of getting OUT of here. I am sure they will say "good riddance" to usl
Of course you have to also have INSURANCE to drive one of these... you should see these nuts with their grandkids in them (sometimes driving them--YIKES)... right next to regular traffic. I heard only 9 people have been killed in them, but The Villages tries to keep the actual number "hush hush"... musn't let anything negative out, you know. HA
I think this is wonderful for the older people. I would love to live in a Village, but if I could find money for a Village, would they accept a bicycle? Seriously, I hope all of you have a good time, you earned it. God Bless!
We may be Northern Democrats but we are being brainwashed by the republican developer. The golf carts are a great convenience and not much mileage goes on the car anymore.

We lived in the Sun Cities in Surprise , Arizona . That's west of Phoenix. Sun City was the first city strictly for anyone over the age of 55. We saw them go all over over the cart paths etc.. There were a few places attached to the cities grocery store etc. However , Never on the regular roads. One day a friend called me said they picked up a little old man (her husband) in a cart on one of the streets. He didn't know how to get home so he just made LEFT TURNS all the time! (:>)
In Arizona the carts are street legal on roads 35mph or less BUT they have to be licensed for street use. I didn't see any license plates on these Florida golf carts. Plus you have to have a driver's license to use a golf cart on Arizona roads.
How fun! Glad these people are enjoying their lives rather than just sitting and moaning about getting older. Hopefully, we'll all get older and have just as much fun as these people. And for the people complaining about what they're spending on their golf carts - shut up. They worked for it, they earned it, they deserve to spend THEIR money the way they want. They don't owe you or me or anyone else any of their money. Too many Americans want to be coddled and have someone else provide for 'em.
It is their money, they have worked hard for it and earned it! They deserve to spend it however they want! The other thing none of us know is how much they may donate to charities, or to their churches, or to their kids! Everyone in America is just as free as these people are to go out, work hard, and earn their place at The Villages, or any other place they want to live when they retire!
@THEMOJOMANsince1959 Just "a" family? I bet there is more than that. Maybe many retired who live in the Villages do volunteer and help those less fortunate. I hope you are helping those less fortunate than yourself.
@marmcmick I can't really say things about THE VILLAGES but further on down the road you have SUN CITY and KINGS POINT off I-75 in south Hillsborough County. Mostly north easterners NY MASS CONN NJ types that have a REAL ATITUDE. 90% of them need a good SMACK UPSIDE THE HEAD. ARROGANT!!!!
@THEMOJOMANsince1959 You do make a good point though. I agree with that. Those folks especially like the snowbirds who are constantly telling us how great their north eastern states are. I see you like the Crossroads Guitar Festival? It was on PBS last night. I was pleasantly surprised.
@marmcmick I saw ZZ Topp listed on your youtube page in Spanish. LOL Here is some of who you missed: Jeff Beck, Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton,Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang, ZZ Topp, Ron Wood, Derrick Trucks, and Susan Tedesci. This is from the Chicago, 2010 one.
IDIOTS ! #1 Florida = proof the dead have risen and are walking (or riding golf carts on street) the earth. #2 Florida = land of old replublic u n t s who LOVE cheap illegals (Mex,Cuban, and Ricans) keeping the younger white Americans wage down to $ 7.25 - $ 10.00 an hour. SICK
When you've worked hard, you have a nice retirement: there's no reason to "play poor". Those with money enjoy it, but are also philanthropic more often than not. Though we're very comfortably retired, I've just started my own business with Ambit Energy, capitalizing on the deregulation of electricity across the nation. So much ability to make even more money, especially in N. Y., PA..,MD., IL., and TX.! I've found a great way to help yet more people have financial freedom.
I lived near the Villages on Lake Griffin...was funny to see all the golf carts at Home Depot, the grocery store...you name it. They even have overpasses just for the golf carts to cross the street. Nice community.
Good for these great Americans. I'll bet none of those cart owners spent their life on the public dole, something that can't be said for Obama's Cook Co. supporters. And with the government jumping through hoops trying to entice and/or coerce us into buying the overpriced Goverment Motors Chevy Volt, these folks are already doing it without a federal subsidy. Come on, Greenies, give it up for the old, Republicans in Florida!
To Outlawnomad1 - #1, They can afford to do whatever they want because they WORKED ALL THEIR LIVES, & SAVED, not expecting government entitlements or hand outs to support them. #2, Get some gumption and an education and you too can earn more than an entry level wage - don't blame others for your lack of ambition or shortcomings.
IDIOTS ! #1 Florida = proof the dead have risen and are walking (or riding golf carts on street) the earth. #2 Florida = land of old replublican'ts who LOVE cheap illegals (Mex,Cuban, and Ricans) keeping the younger white Americans wage down to $ 7.25 - $ 10.00 an hour. SICK
@Outlawnomad1 : One day when you grow up you might be ambitious enough to earn an honest living and prepare for your own retirement, one where you do not become one of the moochers, looters, thugs and parasites who believe you're entitled to live off the labor of others. Maggot.
Government is not a charity, and spending other people's money is not philanthropy!
Government-provided healthcare is socialism.
Government takeovers of corporations (manufacturing and financial institutions, etc) is fascism.
Government redistribution of wealth is pure Marxist communism.
ALL these actions are Unconstitutional, and our current President, Senate, and previous House of Representatives have done all three and deserve the full wrath of the People.
I live in a community by the Villages. First thing hubby and I did was buy a golf cart. We go everywhere in it. Just plug it in at night. In the morning your good to go. We are in our 50's. We only paid 2900 for ours. Good enough for us! Love living the good life!
50,000 more reasons why I would never live at any of "The Villages". (Between The Villages and Disney's Celebration, the world of Patrick McGoohan's, The Prisoner, has finally come to life.)
We've lived here for 8 years and have a Streetrod cart. It is a wonderful place to live. Yes, we've all paid our dues, but we're aware of the needs of others. Volunteering in our number One pasttime.
Seems to me, with gas prices rising, and city folk still needing to drive, that an enclosed version will soon be on the market...with heaters/air conditioners, and snow tires :)
looks like fun times in the "elephants graveyard"....i prefer the open road on a cool Badboy Harley or Higboy Streetrod...to each his on...seeya when yer older....:)
Are there any available men in their 60's over 6 ft. tall? l can't play golf with my bum knees/legs but l can drive a mean Cushman Cart. Y GulfportGal (florida)
To everyone griping about the expense - these carts are typically replacing one car in the household, and easily account for 50% **or more** of your daily travel. And all TV editing appearances aside, 'conventional' golf carts outnumber the custom jobs at least 10 or 20 to 1 or more, and electric carts outnumber gas carts by a similar margin I'd guess. But beyond that, it's their money to spend how they want. My In-laws LOVE The Villages even with their conventional electric cart.
Kinda reminds me of why I ride a motorcycle. It's open, and bikers are some of the friendliest folk around. It's so much easier to be friendly when you pull up to a traffic light, and the next person is out in the open, and not hidden inside a metal cage. I applaud these folks for finding a way to bring their town to life AND reduce pollution. I only have one question .. how do I go to Home Depot for 500 pounds of floor tile in one of those :-)
@chillynites1 I'm sure the same way they do it ... either with my 'spare' truck, or home delivery :-). I do have something in common with them, I've hauled golf clubs to the golf course on my motorcycle!!! But they wouldn't let me take it out on the course :-(
@johnlcallaway ha ha ha Ever heard of delivery? True about bikers , all of them We have a Goldwing and we're 71 and74. AND---- The Sun Cities in Arizona are VERY friendly!!
Let me give the standard "overly-PC" reaction to this: "This idea is HIGHLY offensive to the elderly!" (I don't have to back that up, because my righteous indignation is just seething from my pores. Sorry, just got off a stupid debate with people who see racism, ageism and sexism whether it's there or not. Needed to vent, thanks.) But yes.... they could do more walking, it's healthy.
"Village people" don't only ride golf carts! They also play pickleball, tennis, golf, swim, dance, bicycle, go to fitness centers, do yoga, pilates, zumba and join a host of clubs including but not limited to: photography, painting, chess, ceramics, bingo, bunco, billards, needlework, scrapbooking, memoir writing, literature, music, and Bible studies. Summer camp for grandkids too! Is it any wonder why they have so many white haired people living there? Active Lifestyle = Long Life!
The big white Boxer riding in the cart close to the start of this viedo is my dog, Gulliver! He was with our neighbor who was dog sitting for the day. My dog is a TV star. Dogs in The Villages are probably the most pampered pets anywhere. They lead a very good life here. Of course, so do their people. We love our golf cart and go just about every where in it. And, of course, Gulliver goes with us! What a fun place to live!! I wouldn't live anywhere els

It makes me smile to see the comments acting as if electric vehicles are pollution free. ;-)
Maybe some day, but right now most of our electricity comes from fossil fuels and most people don't like the risks of nuclear energy.
The advantage of electricity to me isn't that it's pollution free but at least it's largely produced with American coal instead of Middle East oil.

I think every city should put in golf cart lanes! What a fun way to save gas for those short trips to the grocery store & other little errands!!

MrCMFields 9 months ago
It is their money, they have worked hard for it and earned it! They deserve to spend it however they want! The other thing none of us know is how much they may donate to charities, or to their churches, or to their kids! Everyone in America is just as free as these people are to go out, work hard, and earn their place at The Villages, or any other place they want to live when they retire!

Fabulous, work all your life...good for them. I am going to be there soon! This is still America and the American dream is still alive!

THEMOJOMANsince1959 9 months ago
@THEMOJOMANsince1959 Just "a" family? I bet there is more than that. Maybe many retired who live in the Villages do volunteer and help those less fortunate. I hope you are helping those less fortunate than yourself.
marmcmick 9 months ago
@marmcmick I can't really say things about THE VILLAGES but further on down the road you have SUN CITY and KINGS POINT off I-75 in south Hillsborough County. Mostly north easterners NY MASS CONN NJ types that have a REAL ATITUDE. 90% of them need a good SMACK UPSIDE THE HEAD. ARROGANT!!!!
THEMOJOMANsince1959 9 months ago
@THEMOJOMANsince1959 You do make a good point though. I agree with that. Those folks especially like the snowbirds who are constantly telling us how great their north eastern states are. I see you like the Crossroads Guitar Festival? It was on PBS last night. I was pleasantly surprised.

One of the most awesome things I have ever seen. I visited a friend in The Villages awhile ago and the golf carts took my eye right away.
Wish I was younger, it would be a fun thing to join if I were fortunate enough to live there.

Are there any available men in their 60's over 6 ft. tall? l can't play golf with my bum knees/legs but l can drive a mean Cushman Cart. Y GulfportGal (florida)
msDaniegirl1 9 months ago
