  • thanks man! YOU ROCK!

  • Your welcome ;)

  • Your good but in the beggining you were like a Guitar pro tab

  • this is awesome thanks for the lesson

  • thanks man

  • Excellent lesson; however, I think you may be making the descending lick harder than it needs to be.

I don't think it is entirely alternate picked, Malmsteen himself rarely alternate picks everything. He usually breaks his alternate picking runs up with some legato and economy picking.

I know for the sake of teaching it is easier to assume pure alternate picking, but to get the lick to sound right at high speeds I think some legato is necessary.

  • Comment removed

  • Correct, Malmsteen does NOT pick everything however still people think he does.

Take a look at his right hand and you'll see that's not the case.

It's all about being fluent in your playing, and that you'll become by combining all the technics.

  • I dont like it. I think you need to improve your right hand skills.

  • OK then, why didn't you send me a video of you playing it with better right hand technique?

  • Hey I never said you are a bad guitarrist. Im only making a constructive review. You repeated too many times the same lick well, it is not a lick its an abstract from an Yngwie's song.

Sure, no problem give a few days and I send you a video

  • Sweet! Thank you.

I didn't say you said I was bad. Just didn't know why you wouldn't just send me a video response if it's constructive.

    Peace

  • yeah I want a few days because my cel phone is out battery and unfortunately, my battery charger is broken so I need to ask a friend for a bat.charg and then I can post :)

  • Liar! You are using extra time to practice heavily =D

But you're right. He has an unorthodox picking style, but he plays clean and correct.

  • I practice about 6 - 8 hours per day. Of course it's clean but that "lick" isn't so difficult to play- I dont like that kind of scales because notes are very close. So it's easier to play. For me the best of the best is Jason Becker that guy was really amazing. There will never exist someone like him.

  • 6 - 8 hours per day? Wow! That's dedication. Well, tastes are different. For me Michael Romeo is the eternal idol, but there are also many other great guitarists. But It's not about how well you can play, it's about the ability to make good song. That's what makes difference.

  • Indeed. Speed isnt the main purpose in music nowadays. I know what you mean and I listened to that about 999999 times. But you can have great speed and also have the ability to make a a good song.

  • great tone, i like. what amp (with pedals?) did you play here ?

  • Thank you!

I am using a Fender Deville 4 /10 combo and no pedals, just the Amp.

  • thanks for posting!! great vid!!

  • great vid, very clear demonstration. thx.

  • Thank you. helped a loooooooooooot.

  • beast

  • great thanks for posting

  • c cool mais ya pa le début (lol)

  • Very good demonstration, thanks a lot!

  • Good Lesson Its cool that you play it a a slow tempo to see whats going on,Is it possible to post the rest of the song? -Thanks for sharing

  • i forgot to mension i can do cromatics at about 120-135 max (very sloppily)

  • great vid thanx alot!

how long do u think it will take me to do this?

if i practice this lick 1 hour every day on a metronome

i practice all day because its the holidays

but i coudnt practice on a metronome all day i would go insane rofl

    please reply

  • it really depends on how fast you can pick, by the way does any1 know how to count this. Is the second part 8th note triplets, straight 16ths, or 16th note triplets?

  • i think it's 16th note triplets...

  • Awesome video man! Great Technique! im still getting used to playing faster but its coming along and this video really helps! Im wondering, could you put up a video of how to play the opening arpeggio's to this? Thanks!

  • Thanks man, i guess u can teach..ur tone is pretty clean...thts good...

  • guau...thsnx men..

  • Thanks man, you are a good teacher .

  • thank you and your welcome!

  • please, podias subir tambien la intro?, a mucha gente le seria de gran ayuda, thank you.

  • Very good. Clean, clear and accurate. No more needed than that.

  • Very very good, practical, accurate lession that can teach a very ignorant person to play.

You are an excelent teacher and i thank you very very much for this lesson! I could never play Yngwie before, but with your lessons i can!

    Thanx :)

  • Your welcome nemanjan87! I feel if you are willing to make the effort then I will teach lessons like this for free. Otherwise you can pay me to teach ya..hehe..kidding:)

  • Thank you, thank you...you are awesome!!!...I've always tried to figure it out.....Excellent lesson!!!!

  • Your so welcome!

  • Thanks alot dude! You are amazing teacher.....

  • Thank you very much!

  • the slow version sounds pretty nice!! Excelent work!!!

  • MUY BUENO

  • is there any specific scale i can look at for tab?

  • holy... you are unbelievable!

  • Thanks Brian for teaching this song. It is definitely gonna take a while to build it up to speed and be able to play it cleanly. Nice job demonstrating the opening sequences.

  • Your welcome ducky811.

  • Thanks bro! I am re-vamping my picking technique now and I'm gonna use this as one of my practice pieces (I love Yngwie too!) Dude, your ARTICULATION and TIMING/EVENNESS at high-tempo is KILLER!!! Also, thanks for playing/demonstrating it at all of those various tempos. I can tell that you have the ability, patience, and demeanor to be a GREAT teacher. I've been teaching full-time (and gigging of-course) for the last 14-years and I love it! (Performance Music Center - Woburn, MA - USA) Peace!

  • thank's for the complements! I have been teaching and playing live for a living now for 8 years. I love to teach, Even if somehow I got fameous I would still teach. I like to inspire people.

    Thanks again.

    Brian

  • Brian, thanks for replying! I could tell you like teaching. I would keep teaching if I got famous too (but I would try to just keep the students that are "into it". Do you know what I mean? I end up doing a bit of "babysitting" when teaching out of the music store. I'm not complaining though! BTW, what's up with these idiots dwelling on a "wrong-note" or whatever? Are they serious? I bet they can't play for shit, but they're calling you on "one" f'ing note, right? A-holes! Peace!

  • U have a FLAWLESS Alt picking technique mate..

all the people who keep saying your playing the wrong notes..what Planet are they on? Or just jealous..I can play this too, but nowhere near as clean as you..Regards Eddy

  • Thanks Eddy! I will check your video response out!

  • Heeyyyy Men, this lesson is great, you teach very whell, congratulations, im from Mexico city and im very happy with your lesson.

  • sehr gut , es ist wirklich toll.........perfekt

  • thanks but you hae the lesson for the oppening

  • Sorry, I don't. That's why this is free..hehe! When I get some time I will do a complete lesson but for now this is all I have to offer.

    Brian

  • very thorough

  • hey huskarle you should post the video and then talk, cause i like this video and this guitarrist is really fast.

  • That sucks... get the original tab... or learn it from the video... it's just WRONG!!!.. i'll try to post a video to show how must be done

  • lol...ok

  • sounds correct to my ear

  • You're wrong.. It goes just the way like it's in the video. When I wanted to learn this i slowed down the song and this is just the way it goes.

  • You're all wrong.. you should download the malmsteen's video where he explains it.. and then... you'll see ther is a little mistake

  • If its only a little mistake then why get PMS about it and make a big deal? its a good, well explained lesson, why get on your highhorse and shoot your mouth off?

  • hey shut the fuck up men... i kno the man how is playing... and i just want him to play it perfect... because iknow hi can... who the hell called you anyway... mind your own business.. and if there is a wrong note... IT IS A BIG DEAL!!!... if you were a music student like myself you would unterstand...

  • so are all music students bitches?

  • man you come across as a giant douche and all you can diss is my name? and if you can play it perfect why are you in a lesson on how to play it? give your highhorse a kick in the arse and gallop the fuk out of here, you pathetic hack of a 'music student'.

  • Hey huskarle, do your homework! Malmsteen's demonstration of this song IS WRONG when compared to the original studio version. Therefore, if ONE-NOTE makes that much of a difference, you should try contacting Yngwie and BITCH to him about being wrong! (lol!) Seriously, this (Brian Auer's) lesson teaching YJM's Trilogy SCHOOLS YJM's own lesson (IMO.) Peace!

  • very good

  • Your all very welcome!

  • oh my god!!!thanks from Spain

  • thanksss

  • THANKS a lot for THE BEST lesson video about this song.

I learned to do it thanks to the easy and patient way to show it!!!!

  • Your very welcome;)

  • good show

  • man if you wanna play it even faster just try not to swing all the fuckin' arm and move your wrist, keep practicing

  • that's close but wrong, listen to it slowed down,

you're missing a few notes at the begining,

but its really good other than that

  • Are you talking about the intro? The descending Harmonic minor riff is 100% accurate I can guarantee that.

  • are you sure, because i listened to it at 20% speed and it starts with a quick hammer on pull off on the 14th and 15th fret

  • yes it does

  • On the album I believe you are correct,I haven't listened to the album in quite some time, but on the live versions he just slides into the 16th fret, at least every time I saw him in Florida and on all the live footage I have seen.

  • Besides, If you start with the hammer on thing it adds a note that is musically incorrect giving how it is a 16th note tripplet line. When you go to the G and D string the pattern you speak of actually corrects the riff in time to start on the down beat with the descending line. But this is Yngwie we are talking about! If he wants an extra note we get one..lol

  • Please post the other parts of the song.

  • móóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóó paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaia ele é muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuito paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaato

  • can you put the sweep picking part please?

  • Yawn

  • yea..I totally put this up to intertain you....Dick!

  • do you teach full songs? your a great teacher you leave nothing out I appreciated the Lesson ThanX

  • Only to paying students...but sometimes people get lucky...hehe! I teach and play live music for a living so I only feel so generous to do a few free lessons..know what I mean...Curious though...What song would you want to learn?

  • where do i start I love lead guitar the really challenging stuff live solos- Zakk wylde, George lynch, etc. hey id even pay you, you really seem to know what your doing

  • can you put a lesson of arpeggios from hell?

  • you didnt get back to me id like to post my e-mail adress but im new to this like I said Id pay you -----your worth it i dont need it but you over explain --your a good teacher so many guys get scared when the student becomes better than the Theacher

  • sorry...haven't been home in a month or so. Don't have all my tabs on her(my girlfriend) computer. It would be an honor for my students to sirpass me and even become fameous. Never cared about being better. I can find an 8 or 9yr old that kicks my ass on youtube so wheres the room for ego..lol

    take care

  • hey how many time did yo practice to get play song??

  • Took about 2 hours to learn and play at the age of 16..Been playing since I was 12. I am 28 now so this stuff is pretty easy for me now. Pay attention to the fingering and picking and you'll get it in no time...It's actually a fairly simple piece..Take care!

  • wow.. what an ass... *_*

  • Very good.Than you.

  • Brilliant ! Monsieur !

    Thanks for all
