  • Block Party Days!!! Carton Full of Records and Nobody was trippin out or BS!! Thanks!!

  • Happy hip hopping days wwrespect johl

  • The production style of older hip-hop was just BEATS so well arranged. They put voices to it in a way that was perfect.

  • Use to go Rollerskating to this song in the 80's in Chula Vista California and they played the shit out of this when it came out. Along with Whodini's Five minutes of funk and The Dream team's song Ladies and Gentlemen..Great music!

  • Fist 7" single I ever bought - aged 8. Not ashamed of it either!!!!

  • Wow! Dis was the Shit! 25 years ago.

  • whhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Only New York rappers could use a song from a Bugs Bunny cartoon, a Sugar Crisp commercial and the theme from Green Acres in a rap song...Bug on Whistle!

  • I had this record :)

and a lot of others :D

  • ahh i remember this jam SFHS in da VA baby!!!!!

  • go uncle ricky !!!!!! your biggest fan

    craig powe.

  • I'm still surprised that they sampled the theme from "Green Acres."

  • great 80's school tune!!!!!!

  • i wish i could go back to the 80's. the air was cleaner. the sun shined brighter and every day was a good day. hip hop was a neverending trip to the amusement park. always some new shit was coming out. it had no limits. always a fresh new beat, always a fresh new style. this was the melody from green acres. and everyday someone looped a new beat. i remember the inspector gadget beat came along that doug fresh and slick rick used to blow up and become a household name.

  • Finally

  • I remember recording this song from the radio...1580 KDAY

  • hahahaha I used to get whistle and UTFO mixed up all the time!!!!

    ~ wop it out now!!

  • @markissalix

sounds a bit like Trouble Funk too

  • Awwwwwwww, SHIT!! Back in the B-boy 80'S breakdance days. The video for this joint was BUGGED out, too. LOL

  • "OHH SHYTE" way back

  • I can't recall the year this came out, but we had a DJ called Boy Jammin George that used to play this in the reno club

  • AMAZINGLY GREAT!!!!!! This put a smile on my face.............man this takes me back!!! i was almost 13 when this came out and i loved it!

  • let the boom boxes blow

  • I loved this classic hip hop back in the day, but regarding other comments was this really what people were rapping about on the streets of New York where hip hop came from? Or is it, as I suspect, that this kind of fun stuff was all that the record companies would touch so was all that people like me growing up in Britain ever heard?

  • i fart in church.

  • @mrlawless187 LOL - do you sit in your own phew?

  • I used to play this on my boom box til my parents threatended to throw me out the house. god knows I miss those days...parents and music.

  • This was the JAM back in the day!

  • This song always reminds me of a tramp I once saw when I was 14yrs old in a place called Pitlochrie in Scotland!! It was playing on the radio in the background as he walked past our campervan..I can still picture him to this day, 24yrs later, such was the impression he made upon me!!

What a great track this is..I hope the tramp digs it too if he's still alive, bless him!!! :-)

  • Not one cuss word. This type of music gave inner city troubled youths a dream to find inner talent through music, dance, and expression.

  • "Back before they turned Hip Hop to Rap, it was always a place to party at - remember that?"

  • sounds like they sampled The Buggers-Bugger Groove (1984)

  • thank you...when rap was rap..

  • This was one of the first singles I ever bought. The B side (Much Hard) also rocks, it's a remix by Peter Slaghuis if I recall correctly.

  • Saw the video over the holidays when I was going through some old VCR tapes. Funny how, for some reason, taping FRIDAY NIGHT VIDEOS and the NIGHT TRACKS paid off in the end.

  • So glad to find and hear this! Brings back memories I was a sophomore and attended Crispus Attucks-yes it was a highschool when this came out. This was on WTLC when the played more music then all the cometating they do now. 80'S rap ...long live. OLD SKOOL is duh BOMB!

  • I had this on rap it up compilation, loved the tune had to have it on vinyl, but left it too close to the fire one day and melted it :(

  • YES! DJ Silver Spinner's bit is a MUST! THANKS!

  • I used to deliver news papers listing to this song.

  • Man, I haven't heard this in a long while.

  • The 80s was the best, we knew how to party and still do, I hear kids tell me now that they wish that they had grown up in the late 70s and 80s because when they listen to our stories, they are jealous of the fun that we had.............we are of the eternal Peter Pan era, we won't grow up or stop partying!

  • @CrystalRhae

true dat, I have teenage daughters and they only jam to the tunes of the 80's of course thats all I played so they had no choice, lol....

  • @CrystalRhae You are so right! I tell stories from my childhood about growing up in the eighties(i am 38) and i keep finding myself saying "it was a lot different time back then"...

  • @CrystalRhae TELL EM' AGAIN !, I'm 44 years old young at heart and enjoying everyday God gives me on this earth, i"ll slow down and grow old someday, maybe 20 years from now, MAYBE.

  • @CrystalRhae I am 45 years old and I feel 20 years old. This was my era too.

    also the 1990s

  • @CrystalRhae yea i tell my parents im jealous all the time...i LOVE all the music from the 70's and 80's!..that era had great music, cars...and it seems like just one hell of a time lol

  • @CrystalRhae true but you all were the generation that was in americas prime ! so you all had the money to do shit etc !

  • @CrystalRhae My 11 year old couldn't agree with you more! I tell him all the stuff we did as kids. Now he wants to bring the 80's style back!! lol!!

  • Finally! Thanks for posting the version with DJ Silver Spinner scratching. The "official" video of this song doesn't have the scratching and that's a shame.

  • That Was Fresh!

  • wooo, that was fresh!

  • This was one of my favorites back then!

  • OMG i was only 7 when this came out.. and i loved it then! still do! what a trip!

  • OMG, I saw this in the related video list while I was looking at another video.........I haven't heard this in ages!!

  • They used to play this at white parties, in 1985!!!!

    Great cut.

  • This is one of the first rap songs I ever liked. This and Pee Wee's Dance by Joeski Love.

  • Good comparison, as both songs (Nothin Serious Just Buggin and Pee Wee's Dance) were pioneering hip hop tracks and paved the way for today's hip hop artists. Some of the others that I grew up with were from Grandmaster Flash, Newcleus, Twighlight 22, Kurtis Blow and Run DMC. I am so privledged to have been around for those grounbreaking times. I was a teen when those artists came out and I loved them! I turn 40 this year (2009) wow time flies!....and I still listen to this stuff.

  • I was 17 then ,and like others say these guys were nice.nothing serious just buggin.just as it should be.fun

  • i was 15 when i bought the 7" of this and played it fullbast through the summer, good times no rap violence just a more chilled era, exept the slaps i got from my mum, was worth it, ha,ha.

  • great tune do you have the bside of this "buggin much hard" or any of the album tracks

  • Just look @ their faces, this was what Rap was all about back in da days! Love, peace and Happiness! These niggas weren't even get paid 1/10th of what a Rapper gets for performing one show today, but they still had alot to smile about!

    This is a Rap Classic!

  • In that pic, the three dudes look like Biggie, Tupac, and Michael Jordan lol

  • Holy shit Kool Doobie does look like a young B.I.G for sure!!..big shout! dbedatkid.

  • damn lol thats a good one dbedatkid lol but you right they do look like biggie 2pac and micheal jordan a little bit lol.

  • Great thanks

  • People.. Lets chill and show sum love. Stop tryin 2 outdo 1 another by claiming to b experts in rap / hip hop. There aint no such thing as shit music. Em, 50c, Run DMC etc etc. It comes down to personal preference. In 20 years time the ones who appreciate EM, 50, Dizzy etc today will be doing what all us Whistle fans is doing right now. Taking a trip back in time a remembering the 'good ol days'Just like my Dad does when he hears Bill Haley and Jerry Lee lewis!!! LOL.

  • great 80s hip hop song!

  • wow i was in 5th grade with a box

  • If someone can upload "just for fun" it would be appreciated considering I do not have this cut anymore.

  • I got it on vinyl somewhere in the stack, just gotta figure out how my usb turntable works, Dam technology

  • been looking for that cut on here too

  • I love this cut, BUT! "Just for fun" was the track on this album as far as clubbin.

  • Wow,,THIS TAKES ME BACK to the days!!!! Gotta love the 80's

  • Yo I remember this jam & always liked this jam & still do...thank you for bringing me back to my oldschool days. We only bugging, lol.

  • So to talk some SLANG I say this to you, "suck MY dick!", bitch-ass nigga. Maybe you understand that, little boy.

And to let you know, I am female. The "suck my dick" reference is to help you understand better. I know you spend many nights riding the dicks of Lil Wayne and others. Besides, I know your education level is probably half your dick size (2nd grade).

    Lick me dry, ass!

  • No ass. Slang is "yo, waasup, chill, coolout, etc." Ignorance (ebonics) is "dem, da, dis, kno, doe, etc" You need to go back to school, inbred, and also read about how blacks were criticized by whites by the way they spoke bad english. Maybe you never saw Buckwheat, Hattie McDaniel, Rochester, etc. But your country, collard green, powdered donut lip-looking incest breeded ass wouldnt understand nor comprehend. Besides, my proper English ass still gets street cred among the homies and homegirls!

  • Take me back to The Bronx. 1985.

  • a great post i remember this like it was yesterday thanks,,,,,,

  • Great song I remeber this from years ago,you dont get real rappers anymore like this, I reemeber years aho people used to walk with ghetto blasters on there shoulders with baseball caps lilstening to great rap like this...even that doesnt happen anymore not in the UK anyway..I wish I had all the versions of this..its just so good..does anyone know how many versions there was?

  • this is the only version ive heard 8/

  • Tunage!!! Whistle, Doug E Fresh, The Real Roxanne, UTFO, etc etc. Integral palyers in the history of Rap, Hip hop. Personal preference is what it is. I don't proclaim to be an expert. I just ike what i like. I like this shit. It takes me back to the days of BMX's with Hitachi 3D Super Woofer's (rememebr them!?) strapped to the handlebars trawling the streets fo York with my mates. Kappa Ski jackets and Tachini sweatshirts. Now isn't that what music is really about? Creating Happy memories!!!!
