But there was power there, there aren't very many in boxing who can take you out that quickly. He might have been a contender if he'd continued boxing. His punches are a little wide, not quite classic textbook like Joe Gans, but still, there was something there, in another 20 or so fights, properly managed, the guy might have been something.

I remember seeing this on an Ali tribute back in the early 90s. Right around the time Danza started doing TAXI. According to the boxrec page, he was a KO artist. Who knows how far he could have gone. Thing was that the middleweight division was a really TOUGH place to fight in the 70s and early 80s becaus of Hagler and all the guys from Philly.

There are many oldtime boxers, but we met Jake LaMotta & De Niro when they were filming Raging Bull in the late '70s. He was good friends with Gerry Cooney who lost to Larry Holmes for the Heavyweight Championship.

He knew many oldtimers like Joe Louis, Willie Pep, Ben Jeby, Ruby Goldstein. We'd be at many Veteran Boxer's Banquets "Ring 8" in NYC. I was real young and was shaking hands with guys who were sweet, but very punch drunk. :)
