It's kind of weird how Locke's just like, "YOU HAVE NO SON!" And David's gone. That's fucked up. They should have had a whole season of Jack going, "THEY TOOK MAH BOI!"

Not at all. Jack is working out his issues with his own father. The whole point of the sideways world was for the characters to resolve major issues in their lives. When you look at this now, after the finale, Jack is clearly working through what he would say to his own son, if faced with similar communication issues that he had with his father.

I teared up during these scenes, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I can't help but wonder: Jack plays a little piano, and he took flying lessons. Judging from David's talent, perhaps a young Jack also had musical promise, but his father shut that dream (as well as the flying lessons) down in order to fulfill his own selfish dream of his son following in his footsteps and becoming a world-class surgeon. And young Jack, always wanting his father's love and approval, went along with it. Possible?
