  • 18 people don't want to move away from the cookie jar

  • I don't know. From the scenes I've seen I'd say the american office is better. Maybe I'd have to see more.

  • @666T3mplar Ok thanks for the update!

  • Typical Americans.. No absolutely fuck all about anything..

The was way before 'An American work place..'

The guy you see there (David Brent) Real name Ricky Gervais wrote it along with Stephen Merchant.

  • @elpostino80 Are you even speaking english? What does that even mean?

  • I watched the US version first but I like this one also!

  • @WeHateFatChx Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @WeHateFatChx You´re kidding, right? The british is the original.

  • i love how noone actually moved away from the cookie jar

  • why david... why!!!???

    please continue making this!!!!?

  • through the whole thing Tim's like, wtf is wrong with those guys.

  • Trust Camilla.

  • when not on YouTube @BenjaminGlatt and @Jacksonrox13 are lovers

  • @Doogs1 False. Just on its face. Mostly because I'm not actually in Australia.

  • My girlfriend bought me the same cookie jar as a birthday present just cos she knows I like The Office! :D :D :D :D. Well, not that same one, but you know what I mean!haha!!.

  • intense arguments on a video about a talking cookie jar

  • Each to their own there's no better or worse they're both pitched at different audiences, lap up whichever one flips your switch but don't knock either c'mon it's only a tv show..

  • i am trying to get into this but......MAYBE i just need to see a different clip, what are they seeing that i dont see?

  • @jsamari You have to watch a couple of full episodes. A few years ago I tried watching a bunch of Youtube clips of The office and it did nothing for me. I still downloaded the whole thing and gave it a try. Didn't really like the pilot. I watched the next episode anyway. And then it clicked. It's been one of my fav. shows since. The show is not about the jokes per se, but the characters and how they interact with one another (especially David Brent). It's really like no other sitcom I know!

  • @jsamari More of Gareth. Everything in life is made better by more of Gareth. Cheese sammich? Made better with more of Gareth. Jazz fusion? Made better with more of Gareth. Birth of your first child? Definitely made better with more of Gareth. Watch it. SEE what more of Gareth can do for you.

  • I'm american and I prefer the BBC version of the office, the characters are just more fitting than in the U.s version.

  • Oh God, there are actually too many people posting on this video for me to spew rhetoric at one-by-one. I'll do it all at once. I prefer neither version of the show. If I had to pick, I'd say my favourite cast would the cast of the US version, minus Kelly, Dwight and the whole accounting section. That said, I vastly prefer Gareth to Dwight, and when I'm in the mood for dry humour, the UK version tickles me. The UK version is great, the US version is great, and I'm better than all you assholes.

  • Uk is better than US version

    and I'm from US

  • I like the US version better. Why don't you all flip shit on me now?

  • For me the UK version is darker and funnier, The American version is still brilliant but its made for a broader audience who like more plain humour.

Both great shows written by two brilliant men, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant!

  • US VERSION IS WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY BETTER AND IM FROM THE UK!

  • @KidozeFilmingInd no your not your canadan. the us versions just a shitty copy of the real show

  • US VERSION IS WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY BETTER

  • I'm Australian also and the UK version is funnier than the US version and Australians are always right.

  • @trev79 Dear Trev,

Did you know your name is fucking stupid? Not as bad as you, but "Trev" is pretty terrible. Anyway, I represent the Internet, and, on its behalf, I'd like to invite the entire country of Australia to go fuck itself in the ass. Now, I'm sure you're not all terrible, and just because your ancestors were criminals and terrible people doesn't mean that you are, but really, YOU are. In closing, I hope you get horribly mutilated. And I hope you get a better name, too.

  • U have got to be the most racist arsehole i have ever met. Our ancestors were not all criminals. Why dont u research the history of Australia u stuck up fuckhead, and stop making pretensious guess, u stuck up piece of shit that makes me, and everyone one from Australia want to seriously punch you right in your stupid grinning smile. Just do the Internet and favour and FUCKING DIE.

  • @Jacksonrox13 A swing and a miss there, Pointdexter. I was using a very well-known bit of info (many British colonists in Australia were sent there for having committed crimes, many of them petty like stealing bread to feed their families), blew it wildly out of proportion, and aimed it at trev79. I know you're not all criminals, or descended from them. His comment about Australians always being right was dickish. Calm the fuck down and try to comprehend what you're reading next time. FYAD.

  • @BenjaminGlatt Yeah, well your commetn made Austarlians look like criminals, so why don't u learn to word it right, otherwise u'd piss off a lot of people. In fact, it still does. U should of explained it better, or if u were being sarcastic, done something like put (!) at the end of a sentence. And dont call me a pointdexter, right, caz altough Australia does have a bit of faults, no country is perfect, and its still a great country to live in.

  • and u are right, im sorry for not being able to find the comment. I did try to, but u are right in telling him that he is a bit of a prick. But I really do hope that aint ur opionion on our country, i hope u are being sarcastic, and im sorry for not reading the comment, right. But to be honest, it doesnt sound very sarcstic wat u wrote, it sonds a bit like ur serious.

  • @Jacksonrox13 Yeah, it is. I know lots of great folks from Aussie. And it's hard to sound sarcastic on the Internet. But righteous indignation really doesn't work when you sound sarcastic. Also, this 500 character limit makes it a bitch to get my point across in one post. I hate doing those stupid "spell the word" things and I like posting comments. I am sorry if I offended you, but you still get to be Pointdexter. IT IS OUT OF MY HANDS NOW, I AM SORRY.

  • @BenjaminGlatt Oh yay, i get to be called Pointdexter(!) "Out or your hands?" Its okay to win an argument, but comments like that sound gay, and a little up yourself. Ok, i fucked up, theres no need to embarrass me even further, as its just sounds annoying. U sound like you're older and u know better than me (and yet again, maybe you aren't meaning to sound like that, u just can't tell), so please, quit those type of comments.

  • @Jacksonrox13 Good, you've learned your lesson. Perhaps next time you'll think before running your mouth off or hitting the "Post" button, no? You can thank me next time you don't get beat up for saying something stupid to the wrong person.

  • @BenjaminGlatt Shut up, okay? Now ur sounding like a dick. And i'm not thanking you, caz u didnt teach me anything. And dont treat me like im 4 years old, right? I'm not getting life lessons from a stuck up arsewipe who thinks he better than me.

  • @Jacksonrox13 LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, DO NOT BE ALARMED. PLEASE CALM DOWN IT'S ONLY THE INTERNET. Apparently you learned nothing about anything. Next time don't beg for people to not rip you apart, because that's exactly what you'll get. What you got before was a tongue-in-cheek congratulations on not being retarded, but now? I'll stop treating you like you're four years old when you stop acting like one, how about? You want it to stop, you just stop. Apply some critical thinking skills, please.

  • @BenjaminGlatt i wasn't begging you, you idiot, i was insulting u, and this time, i have reason for it. I never begged at all, u must be fucking high or something. And stop acting like ur all high and mighty. Its not my fault if u have a bad self esteem or something at that, and now u PRETEND that people on the internet give a shit about u??? They dont care about fights on the internet at all, nor about me or u. So just, for the love of god, SHUT UP!

PS. U remind me of David Brent

  • @Jacksonrox13 There's a super, SUPER easy way to get me to stop. Let's see how long it takes you to figure it out.

I know that people (for the most part, because apparently YOU give a shit about me) don't care what I have to say on the Internet. Frankly, it's a bit funny how worked up you're getting. Sorry, no prize this time, try again, though!

  • @BenjaminGlatt you are a fuckin retard....all aussies are retards!!! the country is a shithole you silly little FUCK UP!!!!

  • @chimpyboy1971 You need to practice your reading comprehension, you sub-literate moron. I'm not Australian, I'm not even Austrian. I'm completely baffled as to how you came to the conclusion that I'm Australian after I basically called them all criminals.

Riddle me this: were you born retarded or do you strive every day to be the most retarded that you can be. I'm not sure, but my money's on the latter.

  • @chimpyboy1971 don't reflect

  • @CrazyWebGuy I live in the Netherlands. And I do like a lot of British series, like Fawlty Towers and Green Wing; those two are simply briliant.

I actually don't care that the Office UK is the original. What, just because it's the original I should like that one more? I personally like the US actors more than the UK ones.

O and on a sidenote; Total Wipeout is actually a remake of the Japanese version which is called Takeshi's Castle, so you can erase that one from your list.

  • Obviously u like the one from which country u live in, because u don't understand the other so quit arguing

  • Ok.. I almost fell asleep watching this.. The US version is waaaay better.

  • Speaking as an American... the British one is really funny. Never cared for the show, just wanted to see what the original was like.

  • in the UK version all jokes are hilarious, i think, but in the american version some that are meant funny just dont make me laugh. British humour is awesome!

  • Australia is UK bitches.. Well, UK's criminals..

  • @JohnDawg142 clearly you are a dumb yank

  • @brynjones11 clearly you are a retarded wank. What part of that comment would hint I'm from the States?

  • the american version is better, this is funny but the US version makes me cry from laughing and im from holland:)

  • @t96s

Nooooo, the UK version is 10000 times better.. And I am from Holland too :)

  • the american version is far more hilarious, the bbc version even though it was the first, blows cock, it has a much more dry sense of humor, honestly theres a fucking reason why the american version is more popular and thats steve carrell, john krasinski, jenna fischer, and RAINN WILSON who is by far the funniest actor from either show

  • @MRoPrestigeWorldwide Thank you, Mr Criterion-of-Opinion, for that insightful comment. We all know that it is your opinion that matters the most. We will ignore all those who argue otherwise. I completely understand your position because you obviously like humour that shouts in your face; subtely and clever humour are concepts you don't really understand.

  • my aunt is very sick

  • Both US and UK versions are great. What sucks about the US one is that Steve Carell got a fat ego from doing movies and he's quitting the show after next season.

  • FACT: Parks and Recreation is better than both versions of The Office.

  • FACT: you are an idiot and parks and recreation sucks dick

  • I'm American and I can definitely say the UK version is much better.

  • shes guessed it...from those clues!!

  • well. im from mars so im unbiased but i like them both. the us version is more cartoonish and over the top, where the uk's is more subtle, reflecting a difference between the two cultures which sometimes makes me wish i was born in england, until i remember the food, weather, drunks and football hooligans. i think ill just stay put, and enjoy what comes my way. it does begin with ricky gervais, though :)

  • @Danniegg

I'm 56 living on the edge of London and I can assure you that ENGLAND has given me the most wonderful life !

Living in the Suburbs for the last 28 years has been peaceful and very pleasant with no problems and I'm near the beautiful green Countryside and right on the edge of London which has a great vibe and buzz.

My first 28 years were in the heart of London and its very stimulating

England is still great Mon Ami:)

    The humour/sport/Arts are fabulous here..

  • the yanks are not evan funny english office much better defo

  • Not racist is it

  • haha goodness i hate this society we've created where people get in "trouble" for having there own opinion...you all need to find a hobby

  • Im from the USA and I gotta say that the UK version so much more funnier than the American one. Michael Scott and Ricky are both funny but no Dwight in the UK one...but still the UK one is funnier

  • @RoyKenyan They shown the American one on BBC Three for a bit, didn't like it as much either.

  • We all have different tastes in humor. If people like the UK version fine, you can enjoy your clever and dry humor. If you like the US version okay, you can sit back and enjoy your awkward moments and Steve Carell. I prefer the US version myself, I've tried watching the UK version and didn't find it funny. So...does that mean I'm gonna get bashed now? I hope not! I'VE actually watched some of it and I didn't like it, so what? Like I said, people have different tastes! Is that a crime?

  • Steve Carrell is the best..

  • STAY AWAY FROM THE COOKIE JAR >:D

  • @AntivirusNation Must get some new batteries for my cookie cop!.

  • If people in England find this funny then now I understand why everyone makes fun of them.

    US version> UK version

  • @Hellscope1 If people in the US fail to see the subtle jokes which make up British humour, no wonder the rest of the world thinks they're nationalist, ignorant, gormless pricks.

  • @Hellscope1

US version's humor is in your face, - sort of humor for the witless.... the UK version is humor that could actually happen in real life, where as the US version is over the top, so that the Americans know when to laugh.... The US is good at lots of things, but not humor...... except for a few US Comedians, there ain't a funny bone south of the Canadian border..LMAO

  • @fastfootedone I'm British and laugher is laughter, it;s not the swimming pool. I love the Simpsons, I think a lot of cultures whack the US but they gave us the Marx brothers and Woody Allen. Trust me, we're indebted to them for that like the Beatles are to rock and roll.

  • @johnanthonyp

swimming pool...ok, i , like everyone else, is lost on that one...lol

marx brothers,.....ok, one comedic act that was "ok"...not great.....slapstick and pedestrian, but they have a certain charm i suppose....

woody allen was basically a nutbar that was able to produce some quirky, somewhat interesting films, but only a select few would be bent over laughing at him. let's face it, Americans don't do humor well, but they do sports and reality TV well...lol

  • @fastfootedone Well, perhaps you should remember when somebody said that Rocky Marciano was the most dangerous unarmed man a wit replied that Groucho was. Perhaps you should read some of the books he and Woody wrote but that might be a strtch I guess. And recent research suggests that great creative minds and the mentally unwell use their brains very similarly. But I guess you're low on the creative spectrum givenn you used the term 'lol.' Once is bad enough but twice?

  • @fastfootedone By the way, the swimming pool was a reference to competitiveness. You want to slag the Simpsons?

  • I could careless where your from, American one is so much funnier!

  • just because some idiot doesn't get another country's humor doesn't mean it isn't funny. it's the same argument on both sides and honestly it's ridiculous. they weren't meant to be exactly the same for the exact same sense of humor, but fuck... they're both pretty brilliant and honestly i can't say which i like better.

  • @YinYangTzu and of course there are reasons people like one over the other, or don't like one at all, so im not criticizing the fact that people have different opinions or varying senses of humor.

however, the nationalistic arguments are total bullshit. they were never meant to be the same. honestly i can't empathize with anyone who didn't find both of them funny.

  • @YinYangTzu also, it reminds me of the arguments thatp eople make about their national buildings, government and crap like that. "we're better because we have x, y, z rights or we built the fuckin pyramids and you didn't". obviously the idiot who says that isn't the intelligent one who came up with it himself.

in a same way, everyone criticizing differing senses of humor assume they are clever enough to. and seem to take credit for the work as if it was some national project. it's ridiculous.

  • the american version is better because its from AMERICA!!!

  • @lp502 designed and produced by brits

  • @lp502

    now there's a convincing line...... typically american...LMAO

  • well uk one is original...

  • Well, the yanks aren't clever enough to understand the UK version. They need all their "POW!!!", "U got it!!!", "Everything's going to be just fine", "I-love-my-country-and-my-family-and-god-and-i-have-a-gun-to-protect-my-family", "I am free", etc...

  • does it matter what is better?

  • so much funnier

  • cant we all just get along

  • The American version is way better.

  • The American version is way better.

  • @edricknoel Canada or America it's all the same to us Brits! Ha ha ha ha :)

  • OMG, we used to have that cookie jar!

  • I remember when this was on. I hated it at first but I like it in the end, its well written. But I wouldn't say its one of my favourite programmes, personally because I didn't find it THAT funny. As I say though, it is original and well written.

  • I think your an idiot. One of the funnyest things on TV. You clearly dont understand dry humour your probably american. just a guesse.

  • @Tommo18s

First of all, it's "you're," not "your," "funniest" not "funnyest," "guess" not "guesse." I really don't think you're entitled to throw the word "idiot" around when you clearly define the word.

Second of all, not only are you dimwitted enough to call me stupid when you, yourself, have the grammatical capabilities of a baboon, but you're lazy enough to call me an American and not bother to check my profile and read that it says I'm from Canada.

  • Canadian then, makes no difference to me. Fuck off please. thanks :)

  • @Tommo18s you got owned by edricknoel!!

  • @Tommo18s

    Ignorance.

  • Have you been living under a rock? Its The Office obviously.

  • U mean Gareth?

  • We are looking for a new member of staff and one of the suggestions was "the blonde haired guy from the office" - role of Youtube, How could we find such a character?

  • There's nothing clever about the 'retarded' cookie jar, that's what makes this clever. When writing this Gervais recognised that people find the most ridiculous things hilairious and so implemented it into the script. For example, people actually by the tripe and other things like the Billy Big Mouth Bass thing (singing fish on a plaque). These losers are essentially what Gervais is taking the piss out of...that and wacky/tacky humour. Just remember that Tim is the only sane on in the office.

  • Keiths pretty good as well, he just doesn't give two ****s abouts being there!

  • @samwaysdean And Dawn. At least by the end of the final series. How dare you forget Lucy Davis?

  • UK > US

  • Tim at 1:09=)

  • absolutely UK version is WAY better

  • i fully agree with my fellow Aussie (wtchcrft17)

  • beautifully crafted scene in true Brent-style!

script-writing is world-class and acting too!

    so natural and free-flowing...absolute genius!

  • EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP!

UK version is better than US. Period.

    And im from Australia

  • @wtchcrft17 Correction: by YOUR RECKONING alone, the UK version is better, period. I reckon that the UK version has excellent, dry wit, and I reckon that the US version has Michael Scott making me feel uncomfortable all over the place, and Jim and Pam being Jim and Pam. Aside: nobody on the entire Internet cares that you're from Australia except me. I care because that means that I can't just drive to where you are and punch you in the mouth for being a presumptuous cock.

  • @wtchcrft17 Correction: by YOUR RECKONING alone, the UK version is better, period. I'm from a country.

  • im Canadian and i love both !

  • the american version is ok....but its just sooooo cheesy n annoying...whereas the original is a lot more realistic n dry

  • Lol, I have one of those cookie jars.

  • Stop! Move Away From The Cookie Jar!

  • your all stupid for arguin about countries, were all the same people! som of us are just standing on different piece of fucking grass

  • Indoctrination? In my American education system? It's more likely than you think.

Nah, luckily mine isn't the American education system.

  • I sure hope you're joking. America's not a bad country, but no land should hold claim to being better than another.

A novel idea for people arguing over the two different versions of the office...what if they're both good?

Really the two shows shouldn't be compared so closely, though they're based off the same thing, their comedy in style and execution vary.

Anyways, enough of this ridiculously unnecassary ranting of mine.

  • I have nothing against British people, it's not that. My only problem is just that I don't find this amusing. I found the American version very amusing however. Where the argument comes in is people don't realize that it's an OPINION.

  • You probably don't find the British one as good because you've probably watched more American Tv, am I right? :D

  • The uk one is like an actual documentry...,where as the American one is just like an over the top American sitcom..British humor is more clever and subtle..where as American Humor is more obvious and loud..

  • I wouldn't say British humor is more clever. Sometimes it can be and sometimes ours can be. For example, there's nothing clever about a retarded cookie jar. Yet you all seem to enjoy this particular scene quite a bit.

  • I kind of like the american better. But im sure if i watched bbc i would grow to like it.

  • why did america even try this shet...big fail...you cannot make the office without david brent therefore the u.s version doesnt work..dam americans always fucking things up

  • Hey man, don't be hating they are both good, just don't watch the U.S. version if you don't like it. peace

  • The overall essential difference between the Office and the American version is the original is much darker in tone. The awkward moments that are very important to the humour are almost cruel and hard to watch at times in the original, which make them hilarious. The US version apparently tried to make it lighter and more of a comedy.

  • watch "scot's tots"

  • btw both versions are great but not in the same way.

  • UK one is more believable you can picture it happening in real life but US version dont feel real and the comedy got more childish the more ricky and steve took a back seat.

Quite frankly i feel rick and steves writing is the biggest difference, every UK episode was awesome, as they not writing US version theres a lot of hit and miss's with jokes

  • ok. im from australian so im unbiased when i compare the bbc to the american one. im not gonna lie the american one is funny, but its just not as good as the bbc one. all my friends agree with me too. in the american one something ridiculously stupid always has to happen for it to be funny which is ok the first time but it gets old, whereas i can watch the bbc one again and still find it funny. at the end of the day the underlying difference between the two is ricky gervais and no ricky gervais.

  • Gareth and Tim, its the whole cast really.

  • @012345rusty012345

    *Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant*

  • I'm American and I can definitely say the UK version is much better.

  • @012345rusty012345 im also australian and i agree

  • @012345rusty012345 you're from "australian"? You mean Australia. So either you realllyyy messed up with a typo or you're not actually from there. Anyway, that's an opinion. It doesn't matter WHERE you're from. Just because you are "unbias" doesn't mean you're right. I like the US version better. and I'm from Honduras. Different people like different type of humor. End of story.

  • MFAO! I want that cookie jar so baddddddd

  • it's fcking worthless to read the comments to The Office youtube videos,

It's a fcking waste of time what it's come to, with all the UK vs US arguing

  • ...Now I really want fig newtons.

  • wait is that the guy from pirates of the Carribean... skinny blond guy?

  • yes

  • I knew it!... thanks :]

  • no you didn't... you said 'is that' lol

  • yes that's him ^^

  • Yeah, guy who keeps losing his eye xD

  • Ugh. stop arguing over which is better!

  • This is my favorite scene!

  • id love to work in that office lol

  • Gareth what a twat!

  • Every Office clip has people comparing the UK and US versions and it's not even an arguement..

The UK was the original and nothing short of genius. Only 12 episodes making it classic.

The US version is Ricky and Steves idea but done by US people and wouldnt even exist were it not for the original! Rant over.

  • Spot on!

  • Office US isn't in the same league but its still funny on it's own merits.

  • i have that cookie jar lollage

  • "ohhoh... trust Camilla!"

  • I think you have to have a very uniqie/tuned sense of humour to understand the comedic qualities of The Office, some people don't really understand it, im actually suprised the American public took to it, I wouldn't think it would be their 'style' if you like, but they seem to love it :)

  • A bit patronising no?

  • Oh you didn't get the memo? Pretending that you're more sophisticated than the average American is the new sententious chic. (Of course this requires that you generalize a nation of 300+ million people from every corner of the world, but don't worry. You're so much smarter than the average American that you can't possibly be a moron.)

  • It's not patronizing. Most Americans don't even know that the Office originated in Britain. If NBC aired the original BBC version it would get low ratings. That's why they had to re-cast it with American actors. God forbid a tv show for American audiences actually takes place outside of the US. The humor also has to be dumbed down. Desperate Housewives and Family Guy are the 2 of the highest viewed comedies in the states.

  • i'd say the humour on family guy is universal. same as the simpsons. Where as your real-life US shows like 2 & Half Men, Everyone Loves Raymond are more Yank comedy and I dont find these particularly funny compared to British/Irish humour like the Office, Extras and Father Ted

  • You dont get it because there are no explosions and gun battles,no laughter track to point out whats funny and amazing car chases down the corriders with every episode ending with ''cut the red or blue wire''to save mankind from aliens/meteor/evil mastermind, this is why you dont get it go watch a battlestar galactica or some other bloated tripe.

  • Ya because the US Office has all of that stuff.

I odn't get into stupid shows with laughter tracks and explosions and crap. I like stuff that's funny because it is.

I just don't find the humor in it. You want to degrade me because my comedy choice you can but it's pretty ignorant.

  • hey, the original battlestar galactica was badass. the remake? they tried to innovate it for a new generation but ended up losing what made the first so great.

and besides that, there's a lot of other shitty american television that doesn't involve that stuff.

  • No Offence, man, but the UK Version is much more clever and has more humor and doesnt need to try so hard. Its amazing. but hey, dont get me wrong. i love the american version too.
