my dad has a 74 , so nice . it was the sae color as that and then he painted black with metal flake . and he has a krerker pipe it sounds so good. way louder than that . by the way nice bike
Anyone viewing this site should hunt down a copy of Australian movie called 'Stone' from 1974. If you like Z1's there are about 20 of them in action in Stone.
I agree. Personally, I think it is the nicest looking motorcycle ever built. Elegant, but yet tough and proud. Kawasaki styling back in the 70'S and 80'S was superb.

Way more interesting than the usual Hardly Classic Softail Cliche's that everyone else in the world rides.

@retrostuff1 Half of those "everyone else" don't even do the salute back when you pass them on a like 70 mile straight stretch:/

This bike kicked arse.... heaps of grunt... not built for the faint hearted.
The Police here in Australia were riding Honda 750 fours when the Kwaka arrived.... they had no hope of catching one of these.......
This is from an era when bikes were built to last... and go fast..... I miss those days

I bought one new in 1973 when I was 17 years old. What fun. The price was 2200 then. Black and orange just like above.

Sounds like she's missing a cylinder in the vid. Was the choke on? Beautiful bike! I have a 1980LTD now, but I'm looking for a '73 or '74 Z1.
