What runes/masteries are you using? I can't seem to be able to jungle with gp without geting down to 1 bar of hp and having to recall before the first jungle clearing and i can't see that i'm doing anything differently from you except you are getting a leash.
I tend to switch between 2 rune pages but a single mastery page. I used my move quints, flat AD reds, flat armor yellows, and MR per lvl blues in this case i think. i got 9/21/0 for jungling.
