  • I can't imagine how quickly the barrel would have to be replaced after punching out so many rounds in such a short period of time.

  • @Panzersoldat not as often as you think :) on refit (every 4-6 years) it'll be cleaned and if needed the barrel lining will be replaced but other than that she's all good to go

  • The OtoBreda 76mmSR is not water cooled as you think of machine guns, it is water sprayed. Also it takes a special round to achieve its astonishing rate of fire. While the older Oto Melara 76 Compacts can fire the special rounds it does not increase the rate of fire.

  • I wonder if Australian Liberals would use this to solve the so called boat people problem...

  • @IsthmusLine well the abo's should have used it when all the convicts so called trash(boat people) from uk were landing in australia back in 1900..... hell ya...

  • @zulfiqar34 yeah, and now look at Australia

  • hell yeah !!!

  • leaking

  • Awesome!! Italy rules!!!!

  • This gun is TOO(if not principally) an anti-aircraft gun and soon will be implemented

by the new projectiles class "Vulcano" with correction trajectory!!

  • @blupampurio

It looks and sounds like a German Geräd Flak 80mm from ww2!!! L O L

And all these people think that it is new!!! LOL LOL LOL

  • @blupampurio

    BTW;

same story with the A-10 Warthog, we used to call that damned thing Chamäleon (chameleon) Volkswaffe...

...and that big 30mm catling gun was called Pot-lot (Pot-led)...

  • Will It Blend Aint Got Shit On This

  • Being on the receiving end of this gun must be VEEEERY unhealthy XD

  • Unbeleivable. What an astounding weapon.

  • Italian made automatic beer can thrower.

  • Water cooled?

  • @deetjay1 Yes water cooled :)

  • Sick!! WoW!

  • Yea but does it come in Ferrari rosso?

  • @VWGTI4LIFE HAHAA... nice one... :) that would be nice...

  • oto melara

  • This thing is just badass. Break up any party, I think!

  • I smell bullshit. I am aware of companies getting armed PMCs on board but I've never heard of anyone saying anything about mounting a 76mm or bigger gun to defend from pirates. Unless you can provide any reference I say bullshit.

  • After that barrage one thing is sure...If they ain;t dead..they sure ain't happy.

  • "Standby Ion control....fire!"

  • control center-"fuck..."

    Random guy-"what?"

    control center-"we missed "

  • my ring-tone!

  • Made in ITALY!!!!

  • Water cooled barrel COOOL

  • Why we don't use that much artillary anymore beats me.

  • @indoorin Because missles are more accurate and take up less space than large guns. That is why we don't have battle ships anymore.

  • @aqinthe yes but missiles can be shot down easily while artillery is unstoppable. Besides with the targeting systems we have now accuracy shouldn't be much of a problem. Along with the guns being to large. Look at how compact this is.

  • @indoorin I was refering to the larger Battleship type guns. I'm not an expert on the matter, just letting you know what I think. You are right that artillery is unstoppable. But think about how large battleships are vs a much smaller ship with missles that can carry similar firepower. I guess they thought the trade off was worth it.

  • @indoorin Artillery shells can easily be shot down with Phalanx or Goal keeper systems (Tests have even shown that Sea Wolf missiles can shoot down artillery rounds) The simple fact is that missiles have far greater range, accuracy and destructive power than even the largest naval guns. A missile with a shaped charge warhead could penetrate the thickest armour of the old battleships.

  • @bcaodp lol you are saying a missiles are capable of taking out artillery shells? i just dont see that, these are big fat bullets being fired at extreme velocities, any flak from a counter missile missile would destroy the opposing missile by damaging its payload, or its guidance systems, but a big fat bullet? i doubt it, i also dont think any missile can outmatch a solid round's speed

  • @Vinlaell Brahmos would like to have a word with you. Yes, it's a cruise missiles, but it is faster than pretty much any bullet. I think same goes for ASAT missiles.

  • Comment removed

  • @Vinlaell

During testing a Seawolf missile successfully intercepted a 114mm or 4.5inch shell. The Mark 45 5" gun has a muzzle velocity of 2 907.72 kph where as the sea wolf missile travels at 3 675.132 kph (767kph faster than an artillery shell)

Search for 'Seawolf' in Youtube and Google

  • lol, fired so fast, you cant even see the gun kus of all the smoke...

  • thats what my dick does

  • @TubasherTim

    hahaha

  • French ships don't need Phalanx now that we got this gun.

  • "Standby Ion control.....Fire!"

  • Hell yea I want this mounted on my car

  • that is the sound and rythem i make while making whoopie

  • overkill?

  • its water cooled by the look of it....interesting idea

  • @TASHKENTGOATMAN Liquid cooling is actually a good way to keep things cool. Water is amazing at absorbing heat, which is why you see it on this gun, cooling nuclear reactors, and keeping high-end servers / gaming computers running smoothly.

  • damn when those casings fall out they sound like empty soda cans

  • 76mm may not seem like much, but with the rate of fire this gun can generate, just ten or fifteen of the shells it fires could really, really ruin your day when they land on your ship.

  • is this the gun on the new LCS class

  • those are some big ass rounds!!

  • @s28400 Yeah, the golden coating inspired many italian women too!

  • whoooya

  • crazy Italians ??

  • damn smokey. FEAR FACTOR!

  • can i have one of the casings???

  • "stand by Ion control.....fire!!"

  • 0:48 - 0:59

    Did that thing just came!?

  • how does the loading work?

  • @IHIoMiCiDe Magico

  • Sounds like the headboard in the motel room next to me.

  • the sound is brutal!....

  • the sound is brutal!....

  • They need a gatling version of that.

  • @Bowyerma

    A 76mm gatling? mmmmh...

  • @Bowyerma hell yeah.

  • Me: Lets drink some wine and enjoy the view. Her: What's that loud noise? Me: Just the neighbor playing with his guns. Her: Why does he shoot so much? Me: I don't know. Drink!

  • Holly shit!!!!!!

  • it's awesome....

  • ma con i bossoli usati che cosa si fa?? Si mandano a far ricaricare? o si gettano via???? ciao

  • dios mio , que manera e disparar ....

  • Wow....some kind of liquid cooling in it... before the firing...some liquid came out... It really needs that ofc..within that fire rate...

  • i wanna see that shooting at a three foot thick galloen hull

  • I sure hope that brass can be reloaded.

  • That is incredible. Talk about rounds on target lol.

  • lol at the shells

  • Ah man, that place must have reeked of cordite :)

  • Best auto cannon video I've seen on the net. Thanks for posting.

  • Being ex military, I have seen and used some fairly serious weapons. That rapid fire 76mm is VERY serious. Even with the water cooled barrel, I would guess that barrel life is a little short!

  • the constant heating and cooling is probably what kills it

  • try this on the Somali Pirates...

    FWAAAP!

  • @jmjmartin they cant its considered inhumane

  • @shmilt (sigh) I know.

But c'mon; If pirates thought this baby was waiting for them....They'd find a different way to make money wouldn't they?

    Motto....

Tread softly, but carry a big stick!!!

  • Not really. The cost of outfitting a civilian cargo ship with a gun like this is several times higher than the potential ransom.

Apart from that it's a retardedly massive overkill - this gun is designed to bring down cruisers, pirate ships are small boats that can be easily defeated with small arms fire.

  • @aarrcchhoonntt - You try standing on the deck with a small arm when the ship is pitching and rolling, against pirates with RPG's and more manoeuvrable craft. Also, the average ransom has almost quadrupled in the least year, from $1M to about $3.5M, so more companies are looking into this kind of protection.

  • Its not about the gun, its the ammunition.

  • Sweeeeet!!!

  • i bet the outcoming rounds will kill u 2 :D

  • Thing to remember is that this is a three inch round each time it goes bang.

  • thatwould knock the crap out of anything :O

  • Ma dove li fanno sti test?

  • THAT IS SO RIDICULOUS

  • fucking right it is!

  • Oto Melara Super Rapido.....TAKE THIS !!

THIS IS THE MADE IN ITALY BABIES !

  • this video keeps me awake at night. Simply awesome

  • Oto Melara Super rapido: welcome to Italy

  • I wonder if they hit the rabbit?

  • Yee-Haa !!! that last burs would give the skinnys off Ethiopia a headache!

  • hahahahahaha

  • ohh, projectiles coming out of the barrel, the power, the smoke, the size of the barrel... this is all about sex. This is what every guy wants Viagra to do!

  • That might pierce some armor, lordy!

  • liquid cooled?

  • i was just about to bash the vid sayin no way 150 rounds a min then it fired faster

    0____o o

  • fckin awesome lol imagin just gettin hit with just the casing comin out xD lol

  • Those casings are huge dude, right on, get out of the way.

  • Hmmmmm.... a gun used to destroy ships and stuff, coupled with nature in its background.... Perfect Combination!!! it looks a lot more friendly now...

  • just plain awesome!!

incredible rate for such heavy shells. well somalian pirates, watch the f*** out, ur rpg's kalashnikov's and pkm's will certainly be totally outgunned facing a ship with multiple guntowers with this 76mm behemoth!!

  • Look not bad Italia ! But Italia is slave any ways!So weapons for what ,when you are cowards!

  • Unless your naval problem is an IOWA class battleship... Then it would be best to keep this cute little gun corked...

  • If my naval problem was an IOWA i would just send a kamikazee pilot, or a couple MK48's =) problem, effectivly SOLVED

  • You know little about the IOWAs, their armor and torpedo protection, history of battle damage and even less about the laws of physics. Detailed computer analysis estimates it would take 6 or 7 MK 48s hitting on the same side simultaneously to render an IOWA combat ineffective. And Kamikazes have a poor record of effectiveness against battleships. Including the IOWA class. Of course none of this even accounts for the tactical problem of getting close enough to an IOWA... THAT's the hard part...

  • The Japs did a good job in PH didn't they? I think they rendered much of the US navy combat ineffective and much of its personell at the base?

Also im pretty sure that detailed computer analysis would have concluded that one 650mm 65-73 torpedo would be the end all for an Iowa or a Nimitz, and its fleet for that matter. Unless they can steam submerged of course.

And an Iowa, with its inherent inability to counter submarines, would be easily approached and sunk by an Akula-II

  • Again. You have no clue what you're talking about... No understanding of the damage inflicted at PH nor subsequent salvage. No idea what the actual effects of a modern torpedo on different classes of ship. And your presumption that an AKULA class sub would have any chance against a BBBG or CVBG is absurd to say the least. Like most, if not all, Soviet naval units, the AKULA is plagued by inherent design flaws, poor training and maintenance. The same for its weapons...

  • The AKULA isnt even the sub im talking about, im talking about the AKULA II

It is commonly known in the naval community that the akula II's boats are equivalent if not superior to the improved los angeles class in terms of stealthiness

Have any relatives serving in the navy? Anyone ever told you how many times foreign submarines have surfaced near or even IN a carrier battlegroup? IE Chinese, Russian, British, even a Canadian sub scored a hit kill during an exercise with the navy.

  • FACT: The Russians continue to be plagued by horrific quality control across the board: air, land, sea systems are all in terrible shape. The so-called AKULA IIs are no exception. To even try to compare them to any US attack submarine is an ignorant; joke... And no. I don't believe sea stories or any reports that can't be corroborated by independent sources... Exercises are just that. Artificial constructions inside well-defined boundaries. Useful. Productive. Important. Not close to real war...

  • anything can be effectivly solved...come behnind the gun, place a tnt and...no gune any more :)))

    problem effectivly solved :)))

  • Meh. If it ain't German it probably sucks.

  • Americans make the best Artillery and cannons.

  • its actually bird hunting season and the millitary realy whants to win the hunting trophy this year... XD

  • @MrAcenan "I think we got the bird, sir."

"What bird? I don't see any bird."

  • LOL

  • Quello è impressionante. Buon video come avete ottenuto una stretta di quel metraggio?????

  • "The ion cannon will fire several shots to make sure that any enemy ships will be out of your flight path..."

    :P

  • Big deal!

  • That should solve the problem with this annoying noisy neighbor cat... yes, yes...

  • Wow.... it's set in Italy "tre due uno...fuoco".

  • useless against a torpedo :) but nice

  • Just a info for ribenababy from ancient times is famous that cannons don't shot to torpedoes or mines but they are used against surface or flying targets my best regards ..baby

  • I don't know about you but i know what I want for christmas.

  • Wow.

  • круто

  • Look at that, the barrel's water-cooled!

  • 2.50 visibility is a problem

  • Is this, in basic, a upscaled version of the 40mm?

  • I want one. Would keep those pesky kids out of my yard. Lol I must assume,, water cooled barrel??

  • Sweeeeettttt! Can I have one?

  • Yes special price for u ONLY 5 $ Made in ITALY

  • That gun took such a nice dump, lol

    Shell extraction is fuckin hilarious!

I can watch it all day long

  • Shell ejection by the look of things. :)

  • I'd like to see the destination of the projectiles, powerful sucker. The rounds looked little bigger than 76mm to me, but I guess the info is right.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • ever herd of smokeless gunpowder? u should use it.

  • compared to blackpowder this is smokeless...

  • OTO MELARA,MADE IN ITALY

  • those are italian guys!

  • nice!! where can i get one of those? ;)

  • The cartridges are pushed away all the same: good mechanics.

  • fuck, steam right, dumb question

  • whats the vapor?

  • i wanna see the effect when it hits the target

  • I'll bet that barrel was hot after that!

  • this is in Italy

  • the shells are 50 dollars a piece

  • Dude, they're alot more expensive than that. An inert round is about 200 dollars, a HEFRAG is about 1000 dollars....

I know coz I'm qualified to fire this type of gun with the 9LV200 firecontrol system...

  • Formidabile!!!

  • its chuck norris's derringer

  • yo quiero uno de estos para la navidad

  • could it be used as an anti air flak?

  • I'm pretty sure it can.

  • It is indeed demonstrating its capability in Anti-Air role in the movie clip

  • Easy... It then requires the fuze to be set to proximity... It has an effective range of approx. 6000 yds depending on the firecontrol..

  • go tuch the berrel hahha

  • getting hit by the casing will make u end up calling 4 the medics

  • There won't be anything left of you if you do get hit by one xD
