Yea, they really need to get the fast pass on that ride. Been three years in a row, and the only way we got on was by queing up at the studio gates, and when they opened, run to crush's coaster and waited until it opened...lol Great ride, worth the wait

My youngest went on this when she was 4and a half and loved it. (she is very tall and mature for her age). She didn't find it as scary as some of the other coasters as you can't see the drops in the dark. This is a real coaster however - don't be fooled by the pre-amble. Don't take a nervous child on this expecting another "Small World". Space mountain is gentler. Thunder Mesa is the best real coaster in Disney to start a novice child on.

It really depends on your child. It's a very smooth ride, but has several sharp drops and twists. Personally I'd a 7 year old should be just about okay though. :-)

Well actually, it was supposed to be a recreation. It's just that when I made this the real ride hadn't opened and I wasn't too sure what it was like. So there are some things which are similar and some things which are different.
