We must be born again. What does that mean....We were born once by the natural birth. and he clearly says we cannot return into our mothers womb. We must be born of the Spirit.

It is not by our works it is by his grace.

Acts 2:38, 8:12-16, 8:36-39, 9:18, 10:47-48,19:2-6, Romans 6:4, 1 Corinthians 1:13, and 1 Peter 3:20-21.

Please take time to read all scripture listed.

Also, 1 Peter 3:21 explains that none of this (meaning baptism) is by our own works b/c water baptism would be MEANINGLESS if Jesus did not die and resurrect. This is part of God's grace/gift in action.

@mestepb In the Greek, "born again" is to be delivered from by God, too. It's interesting, too, how being "apostolic" is no where near it's meaning. Apostle means "sent one". True apostolic ministries are ministries which train/equip people & send them out.  Whatever happened to the words of Jesus, Himself, "Go and preach the gospel to all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit"? I'll admit I don't know everything, but I see a lot of contradictions w/ scripture.

He told us in verse 6 that which is born of the flesh is flesh. He is talking about being born again.

If you let scripture inturpret scripture, It is clear that being born of the water is the fleshly birth. What happens when a baby is brought into the world. The water must break.

If being born of the water means physical birth, then why in the world would Jesus bring that part into the mix since every human being has been born that way? It don't make sense. Nicodemus couldn't fathom what Jesus meant by being born again. Jesus then said that to be born again, you must be born of the water and the Spirit. Then in Acts 2:38, Peter reveals the same concept. Baptism in Jesus' name and receiving the Holy Spirit = born again.

Speaking of baptism, did you know that Jesus baptized his own disciples and that John said that Jesus was baptizing and that John himself must decrease that Jesus must increase. Have ye not heard that the master of the vineyard must have first TASTE before the rest. So Jesus had to be the leader and shew the apostles how to baptize, teach, and so on. (John 3- John 4 verse 3 in that area to read) .

luztheloser, I agree with everything you said. But one thing I didn't think of it the same way as you do, about how Jesus breathed the Holy Spirit into His disciples. I believe He told them to receive it and He breathed on them, but I don't think they received it until the day of Pentecost. You may be right though, but that's just what I thought. Baptism in Jesus name was recorded 8 times in Acts 2:38,8:12-16,10:36-48,16:15/33­,18:8,19:1-6 @22:16. Jesus our example was baptized in Mark1:9,Math3:12-17. He was our perfect example. He commanded it in Mark16:16/Luke24:45-47. When Jesus came out of the water(h2o) the Holy Spirit in a form of a Dove ascended on him.If baptism does also now save us-1Pete3:21. now notice this 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. why is it called born again? why does Jesus use that phrase well if you look at Nicodemus's question you'll see he's "do we go back in the womb and come out again so that we are born again?" and Jesus simply states there's two kinds of birth water and spirit first you have to be "born" then you have to be "born again" first you must be born from water and flesh then you must be born again from spirit and spirit :)

Being born of the water means water baptism, and the Spirit is being baptized with the Holy Ghost and fire. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is the born again experience. See, why would Jesus say you must be born of the "water and flesh", when everyone already alive has done that? When Jesus said you must be born again, he was thinking being born from your mother's womb. Jesus then said to be born again, you must be born of the water and Spirit. Acts 2:38 tells you how to be born again.

Jesus says you must be born of the water and of the Spirit to even enter the kingdom of God. Those in the book of Acts that were filled with the Holy Spirit spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. Acts 2:38 says to be baptized in Jesus' name for the remission, or removal, of sins and you shall receive the Holy Ghost. See when I got the Holy Ghost, I too felt what you felt. But I knew to open my mouth and let God tame my tongue.

As for Jesus being baptized, He had no sin to be removed, nor need to repent, which was why John was baptizing people. Jesus did get baptized to set an example of what His followers would do.
