Let me see... if I were the Chinese govt, faced with the prospect of deaths of some protestors by preventing Democracy, OR have Democracy and deaths of millions due to civil war, famine and the country falling into the hands of foreigners, yet again, .... what would I do? Gee, it's a no brainer. I rather live in an economic powerhouse than have the western type of freedom (controled by lobbyists & hidden corruption) or dead. Who cares who's in power as long as I'm alive and I'm TCB!
