Let us lovers and appreciators of Madame Cooke's beautiful style of singing, and unique voice keep on requesting a CD OF all of her music -- don't hear this kind anymore these days!
@blackcougar48 ME, ME, ME, TOOOOOOO! JUST LOVE HER.... AND WHAT A TRAGEDY, in that she did not receive any major fame for such a MAJOR contribution she made in paving and carving gospel music! Madame Cooke even used phrases such as, "glory to God," "oh glory," and "praise God," long before these phrases caught on in gospel music, and in the church!!!! What an amazing lady Madame Edna was!!!
I don' t know if I think it was a TRAGEDY, that she did not receive major fame for her contribution. She was a warrior and she did what she wanted to do. Look at the wonderful gift she has given to all of us. Look at what fame has done to a lot of gifted artist. Think about it, we are still seeking for her music and enjoying her talents.
I would hardly agree: What an amazing Talent Madame Edna was!!!
Oh my Oh my, what singing. Old school give me more. Listening to these songs it takes me back when I first got saved. I wish the world today especially the church would go back and see what they are missing. Keep on keeping on. Love Sister D
She is one of my ALL-TIME favorites! I remember, as a child, thinking that she had such a unique, even peculiar voice when I would listen to "Angels, Angels, Angels" or "Nobody But You, Lord".
@DaSourcespr06 ....it doesn't take a whole lot of howling and screaming.....that is not what God gave her.....He gave her His word and she preached it and taught it better than any Howler or Screamer.....I agree, her voice is peculiar....she is the best!!!!
The wonderful background group is The Radio Four, whose lead Morgan Babb came up with the concept of Madame Cooke singing, moaning and preaching with a quartet chiming behind her.
its a good combo, the quartet really like moves the song along in a good direction..its like hearing one angel sing, with several others behind her! Madame Cooke is quickly becomming one of my favorite artist!!
I just love her and the original gospel style!!!!
