The only track where Esprit could really win in NFS2 was the Mystic Peaks, heh. Esprit was probably the slowest car in the game and acceleration wasn't very good either (60mph in 4.8s while F1 made it in 3.2s) so it just didn't stand a chance against the other cars in the other tracks.
I'd like an updated NFS2 with the engine, graphics etc of the new NFS games, but the cars and tracks from NFS2. Could have few extra tracks of course. I don't know, maybe there is a game or mod like that already?
I'd like to see an NFS game with updated graphics that included all the cars, tracks, and music from TNFS SE, NFS II SE, NFS III Hot Pursuit, NFS High Stakes, and NFS Porsche Unleashed. With a few new tracks like you said. And maybe tweak the NFS II and NFS III tracks slightly to match the more realistic tracks on NFS I, NFS High Stakes, and NFS Porsche Unleashed, but not so much that it would change the way we remember the tracks. Now THAT is a game I would buy in a heartbeat!

Heck, I can win against other Class C cars in most difficult AI setting, like North Country (drools, thinking how beautiful German countryside is), Pacific Spirit, or even Mediterraneo.............WITHOUT car2car contact, wall2wall contact, and managed to avoid hitting walls and road signs, and NEVER WENT off-roaded. :D
Heh, I agree. Lotus was my favourite in NFS2, but Mystic Peaks was the only track where I could even win the mighty F1 and the others, but I could never beat the Ferrari F50's top record on that track, didn't even come close to that one. Did break the lap record a few times though, that wasn't so hard.
@Metallian But we still love the esprit V8. :) Need For Speed 2 is the essence of the series and my childhood of course. The bigest mistake ever when EA given the series from ea canada to blackbox. They just fucked up the series after 2000.
@Metallian well you could try nfs hot pursuit (2010) it looks really cool and it looks looks like ea went back to 90's style gaming with a modern twist
i remember playing this game as a child and unlocking the showcases....there is one major question anyone ccan please help me!!! it was 11 years ago and i havnt played this game in 11 years...was i hallucinating as a child or was there A MERCEDES CLK-GTR showcase as well....with very similar music to the NFS II intro theme and a male voice giving specs about the car???? if anyone has teh video please respond. thanks.

he also made tracks for nfs 3 calles cetus 808, aquila 303 or the menu-track from nfs 2. other guys are saki kaskas, he did most of the nfs 3 tracks. I have an own folder for 29 short and long tracks
The easiest fro me but McLaren's in this highest level of difficulty was a hell to win.
