I think the guys got paid to be sparring partners and he used some hidden art that is not normally permitted to be seen outside private circles. Possibly CG but I'm leaning on it looks real to me. I would love to study this art.
When I was little I wanted to do karate because it was promoted heavily in the US. My dad, being from Hong Kong and a pupil of Wing Chun, instead put me in Ip Man's disciple's school. At first sifu thought my behavior was not mature enough. I began training at 15. I thought it was boring at first due to stance and structure work that never seemed to end. After a few months I was taught basic movements and punches. 11 years later I don't regret one bit of it.
@2Eugenex You would be interested o know that Donnie Yen only trained 9 months for the first film. No prior Wing Chun. He also trained while making parts of another movie. I think for 9 months he is Dam good and fast. He has of course done loads of other kung fu movies. The scene was possibly cut because from the camera angle it just looks like they are standing there taking it. Not that they could probably do much more.

Hitting people there in real life can result in death. It's a classed as a Ilegal blow if you attack someones collar bone in sporting fights.. Thats probaly the best place to hit someone though just dont get caught doing it haha
I remember as a teen being annoyed that scenes shown in the Hellraiser trailers (yes, I reveal my age) werent shown in the films but having a done a couple of independent films myself now you realise that sometimes even really cool shots, as here, or even whole scenes or even characters get dumped if they cant be made to fit into the narrative properly or if they distract from the plotline - this shot looks cool, but maybe the scene it goes towards making up was... well, shit? just a thought :)

I saw that particular deleted scene in the trailer of Ip Man 2. I was looking at that scene in the movie but it wasn't there so it means it has been deleted. Perhaps because it looks kinda brutal but Donnie Yen exert so much effort on that scene so for me it should not be deleted in the first place.

Luckily, I've found someone else who does train realistically and managed to take my friends with me :D

At an archeological digging site they've found images of people practising Martial Art for war. There was "jǐao dǐ" (角抵, horn butting), a form of wrestling with strikes and blows and joint locks already used in 2697BC according to legend.
@MCBosmans it was invented by hmong people.. idk if you know them or not, but they were the first to have a kingdom and settled in china before the chinese. the chinese then started to take over land by land, they came across hmong people and had a war with them, the hmong people won 9 out of 10 of the battles becuz of their stargety of close combat and they used kung fu, somehow they lost the 10 battle becuz there was a traitor, so the hmong were got captured were forced to teach chinese people

Yeah I always wondered why this part was cut from the film, because you can see it (from another camera, it's even better with no SFX and blur) in the documentary clips. It's a cool display of Yen's control.

Also, I didn't get the information from a fansite, I got it from Ip Ching's book Ip Man: Portrait of a Kung Fu master, as well as essays from his nephew Lo Man Kam titled "My Uncle Yip Man" and Ip Chun's essay "My father".

@Kherudjhuti Well good luck then ;-) I was also inspired to a demonstration lesson, two friends of mine also practiced, but after a year and a half of training, I've found that our (former) school was full of con-men and unrealistic stuff. Luckily, I've found someone else who does train realistically and managed to take my friends with me :D

@Uberbadassguy69 no your right man, i wondered the same thing especially since Ip Man (first one) had a couple of moments where he went all out full speed on someone he was against. and i have that same copy released by Well Go Usa -i actually have the collectors edition with additional material including deleted scenes but this is missing from all but where you mentioned- the guy who posted this didnt edit this go look up some trailers & this is in them, but not in the movie...

@PhajEjKiller Are you referring to Bodhidharma who introduced kung fu to the shaolin monks in the 6th century? Because there was other kung fu way before that. At an archeological digging site they've found images of people practising Martial Art for war. There was "jǐao dǐ" (角抵, horn butting), a form of wrestling with strikes and blows and joint locks already used in 2697BC according to legend.

@MCBosmans it was invented by hmong people.. idk if you know them or not, but they were the first to have a kingdom and settled in china before the chinese. the chinese then started to take over land by land, they came across hmong people and had a war with them, the hmong people won 9 out of 10 of the battles becuz of their stargety of close combat and they used kung fu, somehow they lost the 10 battle becuz there was a traitor, so the hmong were got captured were forced to teach chinese people

loved the movie ..China is a great country with a great history ..Bruce Lee, Samo Hung, Jackie Chan, Jet Lee, but i love Donnie Yen mostly...Yip Man was a great master but China is full of masters ..Kung Fu was borned in that great country ..nice peaple i went 2 times and i loved it i even went to some schools what a respect of how they treat peaple ..i guess the world should learn a bit from China ...your brother from Saudi Arabia and i hope we see IP Man 3 ..from Donnie Yin....

Yeah I always wondered why this part was cut from the film, because you can see it (from another camera, it's even better with no SFX and blur) in the documentary clips. It's a cool display of Yen's control.

@walla236 And yes. BASED on a true story. I happen to own his biography which covers both. 2nd film was on his life in Hong Kong. Do you really think he fought a boxer? Hell, when he moved too Hong Kong, his SONS, were in college and graduated to come fight with him. Ip Chun and Ip Ching were adults already by the time the 2nd film took place.

@walla236 First of all, the first took place in 1930-1939, and the second film took place in 1950. Also, I didn't get the information from a fansite, I got it from Ip Ching's book Ip Man: Portrait of a Kung Fu master, as well as essays from his nephew Lo Man Kam titled "My Uncle Yip Man" and Ip Chun's essay "My father".
